I put the last item which is the bowl of fruits and settled down beside Zain. I wasn't sure I was supposed to call others for breakfast.
I stood up and went to the entrance of the dining.
"Breakfast is ready everybody"
I yelled making sure my voice was loud enough for everyone to hear it.
I turned around and walked back to my seat.
The moment I sat down, silence fell upon the room. I glanced at Zain, he was deep in thought so I left him. He has a right to private moments.
Since I could do nothing but to wait for others, I stared at the wall.
"Slowly, a figured manifested it's on the wall. The image turned out to be Susan and she smiled lovely at me. I tried saying something but it looked like I was in a haze.
She walked to where I am and stared at down me,
"I love you little sis, I have always loved you. I was never aware you had something with Zain. If I had known, I would not have agreed to marry him."
She paused and ran her finger on my cheek.
"Our marriage just happened and after everything, we realized we were not meant for each other. I appreciate you for me having in your heart all these while even when it was obvious I was married to the love of your life. I realized long time ago Zain was in love with someone else but I could not figure out who. And now I know you are that lady, I give you my blessings. Stop being sad about my death. I am right here with you and mummy always."
She took a pause and continue,
"You are the purest soul I have seen in my life and I entrust Zain in your hands. It's your duty to protect him no matter what. Life is not rosy same thing with marriages and relationships, the is always a trying time.
I am not sure if you will see me again but I want you to know one thing, Claire is in safe hands. Goodbye, Little sis"
Whatever that was holding me left the moment she disappeared and I looked around to see everyone seated staring at me including Zain. Mom and Zain has worried expression in their faces, Tasha's expression was neutral and Lizzy had nothing but a blank look on her face.
A sighed and tried smiling,
"I am okay"
They said nothing and each starting dishing out their meal.
I looked at the wall where Susan appeared to see if she could still be there but I met the plain wall.
A tear dropped, followed by another one and when I could shed them fully, the door bell rang and I stood up quickly to go see who.
I did not want them to see me crying, so getting the door was to get away.
I pulled the door and met the smiling face of June but the moment she saw my face, her expression turned worried.
"Jenny, are you okay. what's the ....?"
"Keep your voice down"
I cut her short. I had to do that not to draw the attention of those at the dining room.
"Sorry but are you okay?"
I nodded and she hugged me,
"It's okay not to be okay. We understand. I brought you something"
She pulled away and handed a water pack to me. I stared at it before taking it.
"What's this?"
"It's from Thomas, he said he could have delivered it to you himself but he had something to do so early so he asked me to get across to you. He said he prepared this for you. It's a soul soothing tea. You know my brother is gifted"
I smiled, nodded then thanked her.
"Alright, I have got something to do. Bye."
She left almost immediately after kissing my cheeks. I closed the door and went back to the others.
I was expecting them to at least have gone half with their breakfast but I met them looking at their meal as if it was something to watch.
"I really don't know why we have to wait for her to come back before we eat. I am famished here. I am the being who is pregnant yet she gets the queen treatment"
Lizzy muttered.
