Leaving Home

While I watched both of them eat, mom was dishing mine out for me. Something clicked in my brain and gasped. I had not really made time to understand who they look like. Looking at them,I  figured out that Mitchell looks just like mom, exactly and Michael, Dad. Why would they choose to look like their grandparents?

I was confused, not that it doesn't happen but the resemblance is much. I am not sure you believe I am their mother because I don't look like any of my parents. It's only Susan who took after mom which automatically, Mitchell looks like her.

It was nothing so I stopped worrying. I can't do anything about it. It gives me the edge Zain, he will never see them anyway and associates them to himself.

"Here you go"

Mom's voice broughtw back to my present. I took the bowl from her hands and smiled.

  "Thanks momma"

She nodded and sat down too. Miss Celine was done with hers and she was waiting on Michael and Mitchell. Mom gestured for me to start eating and I did. She started eating as well.

Apart from gigglings from the kids, no other sound was heard.

It went on like that until Mitchell decided to break it,

  "Auntie, is it tru.."

"Not auntie, say mama"

The words came out before I could stop myself. Both of them looked at themselves, confused. I know they are just two but they are super smart. Most of the time I wonder if they are really two years old.

"That's right, you have go to call her mom"

Miss Celine interfered and they started laughing. Mom and I were speechless by the reaction we were receiving from them.

  "What's funny, you both?"

Miss Celine asked gently.

  "Noth…ing"

They dragged the nothing and went mute. I sighed. It will take time before they adjust. I am glad it is when there are two. If not, it will be really difficult for me to correct them.

I wanted to ask Mitchell what she was about saying before but I continued eating instead.

I was putting the last of my box inside the booth. Mitchell and Michael were seated in the car. I had told mom about the car and how it came about. She said I needed it so it was really okay if I accepted it. Miss Celine stood by the side looking all teary up.

The twins weren't going to ask questions because they had always loved me and I had always taken them out..Miss Celine has explained to them that they really need to go with me because I will take good care of them and she had made them promise to behave, which they promised.

"Drive safely alright and don't forget to keep in touch with us"

Mom said after I closed the booth. She hugged me and kisses my forehead"bless you, my darling"

"Thanks mummy"

Miss Celine hugged me after her "Be safe, dear Jenny"

"I will"

I replied, she nodded and pulled away.

  "Bye Michael and Mitchell"

Mom and Miss Celine said at the same time. The kids waved and got back to their pad, the one I got for them on their two years birthday.

Looking around, I saw nothing left, I got into the car and started the engine. I will find a hotel and sleep tonight, then tomorrow, we will continue the journey.

I don't know when I will be back here but it will take a long time.

I waved at mom and drove off for good after making sure the twins were with their seatbelts.

I did not plan for this but it is what it is.

Writer's point of view…

After they could no longer see the car, Miss Celine and Mrs Thompson walked inside sadly.

At the corner of the street, stood the man with the mask, Wills, the one who had been in charge of the kidnapping sequence.

He had been there for over an hour, monitoring the movement around the Thompson's residence.

"Sir, she left with the kids but not sure of the location she is heading to yet"

He said through the intercom.

"Right, make sure of that and see that they arrived wherever safely"

Harrison's voice came through and the connection broke.

  "On it boss"

He said and started walking away.
