Different Turns

"Mom, I think we got all that we need"

Mitchell said excitedly. I am not sure she realized that I was with some people. I stylishly looked at Ella, you won't believe what I saw. She had this huge surprise on her face with her mouth slightly opened. Lucas knew I had kids, he mentioned it to me at the office so I am not sure he would be surprised at all. Still, I looked at him and his expression was nothing but blank.

"Are you sure about that, my darling?" I asked, raising my brows at her.

She blinked a few times and then nodded her head.

"Of course I am sure! What else can I do but to say the truth? I got all I need but I am not sure Michael did"

She replied and I nodded.

"Well, Mitchell and Michael, meet an old friend and his family"

I said, pointing at Lucas and his wife and daughter.

  "Oh, hi"

Mitchell said blankly, Michael said nothing only to stare from one person to another. I began to think I raised a rude kid.

 "Michael"

I whispered to him but he ignored me totally.

"My brother behaves like he is always on his period, do don't take his actions to heart"

Mitchell apologized on Micheal's behalf. I did not see that coming and I was glad she did. Mitchell has to be the mature one between both of them though she behaves stubborn at times.

Ella forced a smile. By now she has got over her shock. I finally turned to face them fully.

"Seeing you, no one will believe you are a mother already, talk more of birthing two teenagers. Your husband must be very lucky to have a young wife and grown up kids"

Ella said with a forced smile. You know what they always say, how your enemy will bow at your success. This is what is happening now. It never occurred to her that I am a mother and now she found out, she will be swallowing those words she said to me.

"Things are not what they seem sometimes. I am a proud mother and yes, my husband is very lucky to have us"

I responded with a full smile. She nodded then stared at Lucas who would not stop staring at me. I can imagine what is going on in his mind

"I don't know how long you people will be in town but I would like my kids and I to hang out with you guys. It will be fun getting to know ourselves better. Lucas here is a friend, though life took different turns for us, I would like to maintain that friendship"

I smiled softly at them but my tone of voice was strict. They both nodded their heads.

I exchanged contact with Ella instead of Lucas and we left to pay for the dresses Mitch and Michael picked.

Without being told, I knew they kept looking at us until we were out of sight.

"Mom, I don't like that lady. There was a way she was glaring at you and the husband just kept staring at you. If he wasn't married, I would hook you both up. Too bad he is married"

Mitchell said quietly and I chuckled"I know my dear but don't let it bother you. Your mummy can handle anyone and for the husband, you saw wrong. Why would he look at me when he has a beautiful wife and cute kids?"

"I don't know mom"

She muttered more to herself and I chuckled again.

"Stop indirectly telling me you need a father. I am doing the best I can for you and Michael."

I said strictly and she nodded and we continued towards the counter.

I understand that she wants me to get hooked up with a man, probably end up marrying the man and giving them the father they never had but it's not right for them or me. They have a father, a living one and the worst thing I can do now is impose another person on them when their father is very much alive. I believe someday I will be able to take them to their father.

I made payments and we left the mall in a better mood than when we came, the only thing that didn't change is Micheal keeping mute.

I just hope he says something soon enough,if not he will be visiting a therapist.

We settled in the car and left afterwards. Our afternoon has been a bit successful.
