New Found Friend

Claire snorted,

"Oh yeah right".

She was still not convinced though but she'll give him a chance.

"I wonder why you want to be my friend anyway, not that I care to know why"

Noah chuckled at his own end. He was happy and Claire could tell.

"I might drop by later in the day to say hello to my new found friend"

Noah said

"Whatever. Be careful and take care" Claire stated and hung up.

She dropped the phone by her side then closed her eyes slowly. She had no idea what to expect in the coming days. What is going to happen? And this Noah thing, he wanting to be friends with her? Is he being genuine or he wants to take advantage that he is aware she likes him and plot some sort of revenge against her. Who knows? It could be what he is up to. Who would truly wants to be friends with a girl that made him being suspended from school? It's not adding up and she promised herself she will be careful and if he tries anything, she will kick his butt. There is no doubt about that.

Claire opened her eyes and checked the dashboard clock.

1 o'clock. Time flies and suddenly it has become one pm. They were near home and the fear that left her momentarily, returned with full force.

"I don't know you are friends with Noah Ford"

The driver's voice brought her out of her thoughts.

Claire blinked a couple of times. It was a relief that the driver had to speak up when he did.

"It started today, the boy is a jerk"

She replied without mincing words. The driver nodded and continued to watch the road.

"Boys of his age are like that. If they are being mean to you, it simply shows that they like you. It's their way of drawing your attention."

Claire smiled at that comment.

"Yeah, you're right. My uncle said the same thing"

She turned around in her seat and stared out the window. Looking ahead, she realized that they are near home.

"I bet he did, he is mischievous himself. Pardon me for saying that against your beloved uncle"

The driver joked with his deep husky voice causing Claire to chuckle.

Her eyes met his and she could see the teasing glint in them.

"No offence taken. I know that already but I love him like that"

she responded, laughing a little.

They fell into an awkward silence again until the driver spoke again:

"We will be home soon enough." He announced as he put the car above the speed limit. He is a fantastic driver so he can handle any speed limit.

  "Look at what I found"

Mitchell looked up from her bed to see Michael leaning against her door holding that same file their mom had ask to see if they wanted to find anything about their father.

 "And what's that?"

She asked dryly and went back to the comic book she was reading earlier.

"Hey, don't give me that attitude, it's not my fault that such truth was hidden from us and instead of holding grudges, we should actually see the good in it and make something out of it"

Mitchell sighed and closed the comic book,"And what good can this do to us other than feeling betrayed by the one we trusted most. Why must mummy do this to us?"

 She exclaimed, frustrated.

Michael didn't reply, he just stared silently looking at her, then walked over to her bed and sat beside her, taking the comic book out of her hands and replacing it with his own.

"That's more reason we should find out why mom lied to us all these years. Could she be hiding anything else and why is she suddenly getting married. Have you thought about it?"

Mitchell narrowed her eyes following what Michael said. There is some truth in what he said.

"What I am saying is this. We never knew mom has a friend who suddenly showed up yesterday morning and the next thing, mom was going on a date with him and today she is getting married. I feel there is more. We know mom very well and she loves us a lot. She can't be getting married and just tell us today, if it's not that sudden. Why did she tell us what she never wanted to tell us and why do I feel she is doing all these because she wants to protect us?"

Mitchell remained quiet, thinking hard.

"You may have a point and I still feel there more to our mum than what is here in this paper"

"I agree. We need to find out why she is getting married and why doing it, and find out who our father is. I strongly believe the poor man doesn't know we exist and maybe if we do find him, Mom might not need to get married again."

Michael says, agreeing with what his sister said earlier.

"That's right, she might be getting married to that man because she doesn't have a choice or has some secrets to protect. That man might be blackmailing her"

Michael suggested in a serious manner and Mitchell agreed with him.
