CHAPTER 212:LABOUR.

Ivana and Mish continued living in the Alika apartment while the workers lived in the mansion. Mish had no choice but to learn how to cook, although she was not perfect in cooking as Ivana was but atleast the food she cooked were eadible. That made both Ivana and her very happy,atleast the fear she used to have had started to vanish.

So one day Ivana was bored in the house alone, she was tired of watching television and tired of sleeping. She decided to take a walk to town, she didn't want to take a taxi or call Charo to come and take her to her shop. She was just stretching her legs, she had no idea that she was due to give birth. 

She almost at arriving at the mall when she started to have some mild pain. She ignored the pain and continued walking, thinking that it's normal.

'Doctorasika said when the pain become persistent I will have to go and see him in the afternoon,'She thought as she walked.

When She was almost walking to the gate of the mall, she felt something warm flowing out. She stood and waited to see what it was, and before she knew it, the water poured down between her legs. 

"Oh my God, don't tell me that my water broke!" She talked to herself as she spotted herself on the gate of the mall. The security officer noticed and run to her.

"Ma'am are you okay?" He asked worriedly trying to support her. "You are having a baby, your water already broke! Help! Help!" He shouted signaling others to come to where Ivana was.

Fortunately the car pulled over at the gate, and a man run out of the car. The security officer approached him faster as he said.

"Sir, help her, she is having a baby she needs to go to the hospital! Her water already broke!" He said worriedly.

"Ivana?" The man called, surprising the security officer.

The contraction was becoming painful so Ivana's eyes were have closed as she was trying so hard not to cry.

"Help me carry her to the car please," Sammy said to the security officer.

They Carried her to the car and Sammy drove to the nearest hospital. Her water already broke so any time she was going to have to deliver. She needed to be in the hospital because it was her first time having the baby. 

"Ivana are you okay?" Sammy asked her as he drove to the hospital.

"No,it's painful sammy,it's painf.....please take me to county hospital." She said.

"Hold on babygirl,you are going to be fine." Sammy said as he accelerated the car."Can you call your husband or your mother in-law or anyone you want to be there when you give birth" 

"Just drive faster, will you?" Ivana said as she tried controlling the pain she was trying so much to not expose or cry.

"At long last they arrived in the hospital and Sammy alighted the car faster to call for help from the nurse. They helped her get into the labour room and her obstetrician was called into the labour room even Sammy was also there.

"Just relax Miss Bombwe okay,I know it's your first time," Dr Masika said as he measured the dilation and the contraction of the cervix.

"In the next one minute I will need you to push,Okay?" Ivana nodded. "Now take in enough breathe so that when I say you push,you do what I will ask you to." Doctor Masika said.

He turned and looked at Sammy who was worried and small balls of sweat were visible on his forehead.

"Sir I need your help here, now that your wife is in labour, You are going to hold this one leg," Doctor Masika said as he pulled Sammy towards the one leg of Ivana without giving him time to refute what he had said. "And nurse you are going to hold the other leg,Miss Bombwe start pushing now." 

Ivana breathed in before she started to push, nothing happened.

"I will count one to three,then you push okay?let's go, one , two, push....

"Mmmmhmmmh, Mhhhhh,Mhhh......

"One last time Ivana, I am seeing the baby head,Push....

The doctor counted one two three,then Ivana pushed with her might and the first baby came out. She didn't celebrate yet because, she knew that she was going to have twins. The first baby cried, doctor Masika cut the amblical cord then handed it to the nurse who went to clean it.

"Ivana you have to push again okay, you know that you were carrying twins. This won't be hard as the first one okay, you just have to push once," Doctor Masika said.

The pain that she was feeling can't be explained, but she had to go through that because of her babies. She breathed in again and pushed as much as she can with the strength that had remained in her. 

When the baby came out Ivana passed out. Sammy was so worried as he trembled looking at her. The doctor adviced him not worry because she was going to be fine. She lost much strength that's the reason she passed out.

So doctor Masika put Ivana on the water drip as they waited for her to regain her counciousness. She transferred her to another room or ward,then came back to check on the babies. The moment nurse saw him, he told him the sudden news.

"Doctor the second baby is dead!" the nurse said.

"What? What do you mean he is dead?" Sammy asked surprised.

Doctor Masika, didn't utter sword as he walked to the room where new borns are taken,not a baby nursery though. He went to examine the baby to know the cause of it's death. After five minutes he came back with the results.

"Sir the second baby had jaundice and his brain was not full developed. He also had a heart problem, I am so sorry, but the first baby is fine. Congratulations you are a dad to a healthy bouncing baby boy,excuse me." Dr Masika said then left.

"I wish I was," he murmured to himself then walked to the room Ivana was taken after passing out. 'Why is the doctor thinking that I am her husband? Does that mean that Ivana's husband was not present throughout her pregnancy journey?' he thought.
