"You mean Carol Wechuli was in the taxi? I am perplexed because she used to say that she will never use a taxi or a public transport no matter the situation she might found herself in," Ivana said.
"Why should she use them when she can buy any model of the car that she wants?. I can support her idea Ivana, even me I won't use them if I was in her position or your position," Mish said.
"In my position again? Mish have I ever refused to use a taxi?" Ivana asked.
"No I didn't mean like that but my point is if one day I own different models of car like you. I Will never use public transport or a taxi," Mish said proudly.
Ivana just chuckled softly then focused on driving. She wanted to arrive at the police station as early as possible, finish up with what her uncle is involved in. Then return back at home,as she is already Missing her boys.
Within fifteen minutes of driving at a crazy speed. Ivana pulled over at the gate of Central police station, she parked it outside the gate.
She didn't enter with her car in the station because she didn't want any person to feel intimidated. Or to be treated differently because of the model of the car she is driving. They all opened the car door at the same time as the rushed to the station.
They walked to the O. B desk and that's when they spotted Mr Mukhongo's fingerprint being taken. They told the officer that they were there for Steve Mukhongo who was their dad and uncle respectively.
When the process of taking fingerprint was done, they allowed Mr Mukhongo to talk to them.
"Dad why is your fingerprint being taken, what kind of crime are you involved in?" Mish asked worriedly.
"What are you doing here? Mish I told you to take care of the house and yourself before I come back," he said.
"Why dad?, are you scared that I will find out the crime that you are involved in?,"She asked. "I thought that you should be happy because I am here to offer emotional support!"
"Mish I am innocent and you should not listen to all crap that they are going to tell you. Trust me I am your father that I am innocent okay?," He said.
"Hey uncle are you okay? What did the police officer tell you before taking you here?" Ivana asked politely.
Mr Mukhongo scratched his head as he said, "It's nothing, it's just some sort of misunderstanding, you should leave. I am finishing with them then follow you behind."
"No dad I can't leave you alone, I know how brutal the police can be," Mish said.
Mr Mukhongo smiled to her but his smile didn't reach the eyes as he was forcing it.
"Have you called your lawyer uncle? You should not have talked to them without your lawyer," Ivana said.
Mr Mukhongo was leaning on the wall with his head bowed. He was scared of his daughter finding out that he was the one who killed her mother. He just didn't know how to tell them to leave the station before he is taken to the jail. He knows for sure that their is no escape route for this one.
Something else he didn't have the cash to hire the lawyer. He had speed all the money that he had on women and alcohol. A big percentage of the money that he got from selling the cars that Mish and him inherited from Mr Bombwe,he gave it to Mrs Wechuli. He helped Mrs Wechuli in putting the company back to operating again.
"Dad did you hear what Ivana said, where is your lawyer?," Mish asked.
"Huh!? It's nothing stressing Mish it's just a misunderstanding that's why I don't need a lawyer. I have defended myself so you should leave dear," Mr Mukhongo said as he avoided Mish's eye contact.
"If you have defended yourself already, then what are we waiting for? Let's go back home," She said.
"We can't leave right now, I am waiting for the results before we can leave. If you are in a hurry why can't you leave then I will come after everything is settled?"
"Results? What results dad?"Mish asked.
"Forget it Mish and leave before...
"Mr Steve Mukhongo you are going to spend your night here in jail for the result matches. Your finger print matches that on the gun,"the officer in charge said.
"Which gun?" Mish enquired from the police officer.
The police officer looked at Mr Mukhongo who was looking at him with 'dont tell her eyes'.
The officer then left without answering Mish.
"Hey dad which gun is the police officer talking about?,"
"Mish I told you to go back home you didn't listen to me. I didn't want you to know this, am sorry Mish that I can't hide it any more. It was an accident I didn't want to kill her. I really love your mother I do, and I still do love her despite the fact she is long dead now," Mr Mukhongo said..
Both Ivana and Mish looked at him surprised, they were not understanding what Mr Mukhongo was saying neither why he was appologising to Mish.
"Hey dad, I don't understand what are you saying. What gun and why is my mother being dragged in... holy moly!Dad you?! Mish exlaimed as she looked at her father then took two steps behind.
"I now understand dad! You are the one who killed my mother! The gun the police is talking about is the same gun you used to kill her? I knew it that my mother was not suicidal. I knew that all the explanation you were giving me, how mum killed herself didn't add up. I was naive and a novice in Investigation matters that's why I couldn't proof it.,"
"Mish my daughter you are...Mr Mukhongo said as he stepped forward to hold Mish's hand.
