Chapter 51

“The gods knew I was about to fall to my death, that was why you were delayed”, I would rather not think of what would have happened to me if my dad was not around to aid my fall.

Who knows how this morning will be if my body was found smashed to pieces on the floor?

I shiver at the thoughts.

The rumour and gossip bearers will carry the take of a cursed king and his descendants.

A king who was cursed for his wrong deeds (my father is a just ruler, the only thing I fault him is his pompousness, he's as proud as a peacock but without the feathers), how he maltreated the peasants and made do with their resources.

Others will say he was the one who killed me and mom, thinking that I realized my father will be in serious trouble if I had died.

The five kingdoms would have separated and each on its own, they will be like sheep without a shepherd.

Ugali wouldn't be as peaceful as it was, it will become filled with power-hungry individuals (not that we don't have them now, the only reason they haven't made an appearance is due to my presence and that of my father's.

It will take another king's death to become a king.

A king isn't crowned when the reigning monarch is still alive.

A king can't be coronated in another king's presence.

one has to die for the others to achieve their dreams.

In this world anything one wants is in the hands of another.

A person needs to die for another to achieve his potential, one thing has to give.

“Thank the gods for that”, father gave me a sceptical look, “why do I have the feeling you're trying to change the subject? No, I can recall all the times you expertly changed subjects, especially when you weren't comfortable about it." He pursed his lips as he tried to repress his mirth.

“ Maybe that's one of my hidden talents, expertly changing topics”, I winked.

Dad laughed (although it wasn't the same as the one he has before, but it's a laugh all the same), a sound I didn't hope thought of hearing again from my father's mouth.

“ That might be true, I haven't seen anyone as expertise as you in topic changing. You're the best among the rest”,

“ glad you support”, I looked at the door in unrepressed longing, I wasn't to rush to bed and resume from where I stopped when I started free-falling(since no one took money from me while I was falling, then it's free-falling. A free-fall).

“I will support anything my son does, you're the only person I have left, if I don't support you who will I?”, he smiled albeit a forced one," you're stuck with am overprotective Father, you better get used to the ideas. I will support you, and support the Okumu out of you”.

I smiled, although my heart and mind weren't in his words, I rather have a minute sleep than stand here on aching legs with my father.
