It was as if it knows am alone.
Taking the book I came to take, I made to return back to where Happy's waiting for me, but the noise coming from the dark swirling mist made me stop dead on my tracks.
The most was now dancing as it swirls, the dance as hypnotic as any I've watched.
Not knowing what I was doing, I walked closer to the book. The more closer I walk, the more the most swirls. It's like the mist's calling me to itself.
"What's with you?", I asked the mist as I walked towards its inviting hypnotic dance.
The mist danced the more as I approached it. "Touch me",
I swear I heard the book mutter those words. Blinking I watched the hypnotizing book.
"Touch me", I heard those beckoning words again.
"Why will I have to loose if I touch the book?", I shrug, I have nothing to loose.
The moment I touched the book, a zap of electricity from the book made me remove my hands faster than I placed it.
Without turning to look at the strange book, I turned and ran out the room, colliding with Happy.
"Why in the god's name are you running?", Happy doesn't look as happy a his name.
" It was nothing", I said as I dusted my clothes ( we fell on impact during the collision).
"Nothing? and you're running like all of Okumu is after you", he gives me a skeptical look, " am sure you didn't peek on your assignment?", he gives me a doubtful look.
" Assignments?", that's something far from my thoughts at the moment, "why should I peek?", I looked up at him in confusion.
He must have seen a look on my face because he just nodded and walked out the class with me hot on his heels.
My encounter with the book is still making me feel spooky.
"You look like a person who saw a ghost and lived to tell the tale", Kwofo joked as he walked towards me.
"See you tomorrow Bu", Happy waves as he joins his friends who're waiting for him as Kwofo is.
"Am okay Kwofo", I held the book I took from there tightly on my chest as if it will safe me from the other creepy book with the black swirl.
This book have three bright colours of blue, red and violet( which is my favorite colors friends), a sharp contrast to the black of the other book.
"You don't look okay", he says as he lifts my face up with his hands, "you look too pale to be considered normal", he examined my face.
" Am okay Kwofo, there's nothing wrong with me", I look down afraid he might see what I did in my face.
He nods, but he still looks doubtful of my words, "let's go for dinner?",
"yeah, let's hit it off", I smiled although my heart isn't in it. I'd rather go home and think of the strange book than eat dinner with others as if all's well.
