For a week or so, I've being avoiding my mates. They're still adamant on not having a bonding ceremony before I give birth, but am hearing none of it.

I want to have a bonding ceremony before I give birth, that way my baby will be safe from any complication that comes from giving birth to babies without observing a ceremony.

I don't want anything to happen to my baby all in the name of my mates protecting me from the burden of a ceremony.

"You have to listen to your mates Buch. They alone knows what's right for you." Kwofo placed a hand on my shoulders. "Having a long quarrel with them won't solve anything at all."

I angrily shrugged his hand off my shoulders. "If you have nothing important to talk of, the door is wide open for you to leave." I frown at him.

If anyone else should disagree with my words, Kwofo is the last person that should do so.

"You have to listen to the voice of reasoning. Having a ceremony might be good for your baby, but have you thought on the danger it poses? Have you thought far ahead to what might happen to your baby if you end up not surviving the birth?"

I've thought on all he asked. I've thought on the advantages and disadvantages of having a bonding ceremony before giving birth. The advantage quite over rules the disadvantages.

"Are you trying to insinuate I'll die should I go ahead with the ceremony? Is that what you're trying to tell me?" I raised a brow at him.

"That's not what I meant Buch. Am trying to get you to think on both the advantages and disadvantages of going through with what you planned. I want you to be sure you know what you're up against if you insist more on the ceremony."

"I know all that Kwofo. I know the advantages and disadvantages of going through with it. I know I might not survive it."

A bonding ceremony isn't like the normal wedding ceremony we have. It's more about a mating ceremony.

Unlike the wedding ceremony, the mating ceremony is done behind closed doors, at a bamboo house built solely for that purpose.

i know surviving it is in the hands of the gods but I have to try. If not for anything, but for the sake of my unborn baby.

"You know the disadvantages, and yet you want to try it?" Kwofo asked. An unbelieving look on his face.

I guess he's thinking on how he got to have a prince like I. A prince who doesn't deeply think about things.

I have to try this despite anything. I can't risk having a premature baby, or giving birth to an incomplete baby."
