Everyone gasped at the declaration of the girls, their mouth was agape in shock.
"The.... the great priestess?" the eldest council member who was the one reading out our crimes asked. His old face looked really ashen.
"Her disciples we are. We're sent to protect prince Buchim. " Ije stood in front of the other girls. Her long sword stretched out in front of her. "Anyone who goes against us, goes against the great priestess."
Looking at the girls who are standing protectively in front of me made me weakly smile. The tightness of my smile made me grimace at the pain I felt from my split mouth.
"I can't go against the great priestess." The elder bowed. The book in his hand trembled a little. "The high prince should be let go. His crimes can't be that much." He slowly walked back to his chair, and sat down.
His words made some of the elders nod in consent while some like Elder Okwuonu frowned.
"We can't just allow him go just because of words from these girls." Okwuonu stood up in anger. " Elder Magrin is only saying those words because he's human. Saving his prince is his first priority."
" The priestess haven't lied before. Those girls can't lie."
They debated among themselves, the matter rising top notch.
"Don't forget, he broke one of the greatest laws of Makoha by having mates of different species." Elder Okwuonu said.
"Abomination! This is something frowned upon by the gods." A vampire elder stood up in anger.
" Are you okay?" Elit ran towards me, and with the help of her sword, she cut the bands holding us to the pillar.
I swayed a little when I was finally released. All the blood rushing to my head.
" I've got you." Kwofo held on to me. His hold warm and familiar.
"Thank you." I managed a smile. One that wasn't able to split my lips open.
"Take him out of here." I heard Reddy command them.
"Am not leaving."
Gods forbid I leave my mates at the mercy of whatever is happening here.
The council members might be arguing now, but when it's over things are going to get really heated.
"Take. Him. Out." Reddy emphasized on those words.
"Yes my sovereign prince, " Kwofo tried to take me out, but I stopped him. My eyes now open as I took in the scene around me.
"Take me to That pillar." I point at a pillar that's not too far from where am standing. The pillar itself is enough to hide me from praying eyes.
"But your mate...."
"Will never know."
I look at Reddy whose stance doesn't look like that of a person who was tortured. If anything, his stance looked like that of a person ready to take on the world at any time.
Standing next to him is Happy, Fern and Blondie. The girls stood in a protective circle round them, each having their swords drawn in preparation of the war to come. A war that have being brewing for a very long time.
