CHAPTER 9

Ruth silently went to Martin's study. She really wanted to appreciate him for the greater sacrifice that he had made. She opened the study but was surprised to see no one there. Luckily , she saw Lady Nana passing by carrying dry towels in her arm which she knew belonged to her and Martin. 

" Where is my husband?" Asked Ruth out of curiosity.

" He is at the cell of hell. He said that he would go there in the place of Lady Ruby. That is the kind of protocals that goes on here at the closer gates. Boss Martin does not like to go against the protocals" said Lady Nana who left to continue with her house chores.

Ruth was astonished. She rushed as fast as she could to the cell of hell but Haggai stopped her as she wanted to call out Martin's name. 

" The boss does not want to be disturbed. He wants to suffer his punishment severely without any disturbance. He says that he has no problem with being there since he knows that you will take care of Purist" said Haggai who help Ruth's arm tightly.

" I want to go in his place. I cannot really take care of Purist. She will keep asking me about her father's whereabouts. I ' d rather do the punishment since I know that no one will come to look for me " said Ruth who was really worried not for Martin but rather for Purist.

The lights in the cell of hell suddenly turned to green. The cell of hell gates opened. Martin came out which astonished both Haggai and Ruth. He had wounds all over his body. He suddenly fell on the floor. Haggai and Ruth assisted him to his room. Ruth helped to nurse his wounds till there were no traces of blood. She did not want Purist to realize that his father had spent a few hours at the cell of hell. 

" Who did this to you love? It's all my fault. But then I wonder why the lights at the cell of hell suddenly turned to green" said Ruth out of curiosity.

" The court ruled in my favour. They were able to understand that I did not do anything wrong" said Martin smiling. 

" The courts! What's this cell of hell? It has courts too. Someone gets judged there. Now I understand why some people never come out alive. There is still one thing that I do not understand. If they proved that you were not guilty, why then did they whip you? Don't you think that that was something out of the ordinary too. They should not have done that to you" said Ruth a bit worried. 

" Anyone who enters the cell of hell does not come out the sane whether guilty or not guilty. That usually happens after I have passed out my judgement for the person to go to the cell of hell. It's not usually my fault but the fact that there are some rules that are often needed to be followed" said Martin. 

He turned on the other side of the bed and slept. He did not want any disturbance. Ruth decided to go to the study since she needed sometime by herself. 

" Anything else you need ma" Asked Lady Akeshia who saw Ruth entering the study and decided to approach her. 

" Nothing that I can think of Lady Akeshia. I need to be left alone and do not even allow my husband to enter the study. That is what I want you to do. Rather you can still watch over him since I do not really want him out of bed" said Ruth as she entered the study and locked the study from the inside. 

She took her phone and started checking through her messages. She saw Rodgers message which astonished her. 

'Why did you agree to marry that old fool? Do you have any idea of who that man really is? You are a minor Ruth and I will do everything in my power to make sure that that man understands that' said Rodgers in a message. 

'Just leave me alone Rodgers. I have chose my path and I know that you chose your path too. It was my decision to marry this old man. So let me be and enjoy my married life. There can't be anything between us' replied Ruth in her message. 

She deleted Rodger's number and ensured that she had blocked him at that instant. She did not want any trouble like the one she had experienced with Martin before because of Rodgers. She took out the simcard and knew that she would plead Martin to buy her another. She cut the sim card into pieces and threw them outside the window. 

Rodgers tried to call her so many times but all his calls were blocked out. He decided to leave town and finally focus in his studies and live his kind of life. He left town really heartbroken. 

RUTH'S POV

I just hope that you will find true happiness Rodgers. I know it is hard to find but I know that you will find someday. You just need to forget about me and I hope that I will forget about you too. All I just need to do is to take care of my new family now . I only need to take care of my husband. I also have a daughter as well. I just cannot believe that my life changes in just a little while. 

Ruth thought as she decided to unlock the door. She was astonished to see Lady Akeshia and Martin both standing outside. It was as if they knew what had really transpired. She rushed and hugged Lady Akeshia passionately. This astonished Martin because she was expecting that Ruth could hug him. That meant that she really missed her mother and needed someone to talk and Martin was not really the right person. He secretly messaged Ruth's mother to come and visit her. He claimed that Ruth thouroughly needed her. He therefore told Lady Akeshia to dress Ruth up with fine clothes with actually no specific reason why. 

This was just a sweet little life.
