CHAPTER 8

Lady Akeshia and Lady Ruby decided to go to the study and were surprised to see Martin filled with a lot of fury as soon as they entered. Lady Ruby hesitantly wanted to leave since she was already filled with fear.

She knew that something had gone wrong and she was going to be blamed for everything. 

" You seeked our presence Sir" said Lady Akeshia out of curiosity. 

Lady Akeshia never liked spending a lot of time at Martin's study. A lot of things brought back bad memories to her which no one ever understood the main reason why. 

" Why did you decide to approach my wife Lady Ruby? Couldn't you have waited for my arrival? You know very well what happens when someone fails to obey my orders and practices the art of unfaithfulness. You will have to go to the cell of hell. You will stay there till the day your leave is over. Lady Akeshia will accompany you there so as not to create any suscpisions about you going to the closer gates. And no one should have an idea about this, if anyone will have an idea then I will have no choice than to allow Lady Akeshia to join you peacefully" said Martin angrily. 

Lady Ruby left the study without a word. She neither cried nor smile at anyone. She was silent till they reached the cell of hell. 

" I will take care of your son Lady Ruby. I apologise for this inconvenience. You should have waited for Boss Martin. Now your life is in danger. Let's pray that you will come out alive from the cell of hell. If I get an opportunity, then I will definetly bring to you some food and water. Good bye for now Lady Ruby" Lady Akeshia said who left the place with lots of sadness.

Lady Akeshia silently went back to her block. She put a smile on her face when she saw Ruth passing by being guided by Haggai who was showing her all the places in the closer gates. 

Unluckily, they reached at the cell of hell. 

" This is where most people receive their punishments. The lucky ones come out alive but the unlucky ones end up dead. When it lights red then it definetly means that someone is in there" said Haggai as they saw Lady Ruby approaching the gates of the cell of hell. 

" Lady Ruby! What are you doing here? Who put you in there? You must tell me everything that happened to you. How is your child? Has he suddenly recovered? " Asked Ruth who was astonished and curious at the same time.

Lady Ruby was silent which astonished Ruth. Ruth left the place full of anger. She went straight to Martin's study. She remembered that Martin told her that he would be there for a little while. She entered and immediately caressed him on the cheeks smiling.

" Did you give Lady Ruby the permission that I asked you too. I understand her pain since I am going to be a mother someday too. That was the main reason why I felt it wiser to ask for your permission instead of her. It is not something that she pursuaded me to do. It was something that I decided to ask in her behalf myself .I wanted to really know if you really loved me. But now....." Ruth said as Martin suddenly interrupted her. 

" Now she is in the cell of hell. You have no idea about that and I do not need you to ask me any of your curious questions. How was your journey around the closer gates and the precious company of Haggai. Did you like his company?" Asked Martin. 

Ruth silently left the study without replying any of Martin's questions. She was indeed furious with him and did not want anything to do with him. She went to her room and locked it up. She kept blaming herself for everything that was happening to Lady Ruby. Martin knew that she was in their matrimonial room and therefore decided to follow her but when he arrived, he was surprised to find out that the door was locked. 

" Open the door Ruth. There is something very important that I indeed need to explain to you. Lady Ruby......" Martin wanted to explain but Ruth suddenly interrupted him by opening the door.

" Lady Ruby is just a mere servant. Is that all that you want to tell me? Do you want to tell me that she defied your orders just for seeking permission from me? I can't bear all of this anymore Martin. I prefer that you return me back to my parent's house. I can't stay here as your wife and watch a lot of people suffer" shouted Ruth at Martin filled with lots of furry.

" You have to....." Said Martin but Ruth suddenly interrupted. 

"Listen to you and follow each of your instructions like a blind woman. I cannot do that. I equally deserve my respect and dignity to be maintained . If you think that is what I will do then you must be mistaken. Take me back to my parents. I might as well put an end to this marriage and ensure that you spend the rest of your life in jail for marrying a minor" said Ruth as Martin left angrily. 

He seemed very heartbroken. He went into his study and locked it up. All this while Ruth remained silent and seated on top of her matrimonial bed. She wondered what exactly was going on. She had never seen Martin that angry before. She knew that Martin would let her go and therefore decided to pack her clothes. Although Martin had already given her the spare keys to the study, she did not want to bother him.

" Anything that I can do for you Ma" Asked Lady Akeshia who entered the room. 

" Yes! Help me pack my clothes in the suitcase. I really need to leave before nightfall .I have not yet informed my mother that I will be coming therefore it is very important for me to leave before nightfall" said Ruth who was crying helplessly..

In a jiffy , Lady Ruby entered the room. She seemed happier than before. 

" I want to thank you for this opportunity. I will always remember this day and be greatful to you" said Lady Ruby. 

Ruth sat silent for a while. 

What was she really doing?

Packing her clothes!

It was a really hasty decision.
