CHAPTER 11

Ruth decided to guide her mother all round the closed gates. As usual, he was escorted by Haggai whom they say he was meant to be her protector. 

" They call this cell if hell. Once someone has done any mistake in this closed gates community, they are thrown here for judgement. It's a guarantee if one comes out of here alive or dead mother" said Ruth.

" Then it was really this place. It was really this place that they took my mother and she never came out alive. I often heard her mention this place but I did not really understand it" said Naomi crying. 

Ruth hugged her with mixed emotions. Ruth found it hard to stop herself from crying as well. 

" I am deeply sorry mother. Then that means that my either my husband or his father was evil. Martin must not see you like this mother. Grandma Magdalene was a very good person. Was that the main reason why she never told us where she worked? Was that the main reason she also never told us where she lived? I see people live here with their families but why was it really different with us" 

" This all happened while you were still young. After my mother's death, we decided to move out of the closed gates. That was how I started my tomato business. It should have been a lot easier but it wasn't. This place still creates a lot of memories to me. A lot of bad memories . I have to go since I cannot do this anymore" said Naomi who left accompanied by Haggai. 

Haggai opened for her the gate and she left. Ruth kept crying till she saw the cell of hell door open again. She looked around to see who had been sent there by Martin but no one was there. She made a decision to enter and find out what had really happened to her mother. But before she could enter, the cell of hell closed. 

She went back to the mansion as tears welled down her eyes. Martin was still soul-searching at the study. She went to Martin as she needed to confront him a few things regarding her grandmother Magdalene. She opened the door and found Martin lying on the floor. 

" Help! Somebody help me! Lady Akeshia! Lady Akeshia! Haggai ! Help! Help me!" Ruth kept shouting all over the house. 

Unluckily, nobody heard her as everybody were out of the mansion. They normally went to the servant quarters after every meal. Ruth helped carry him upstairs but unluckily she missed one step and they both fell on the stairs.

" Help me!" Those were the last words that Ruth uttered from her mouth before her heart went in vain due to panicking. 

Lady Akeshia who had forgotten to switch on the main lights suddenly came back to the mansion. There were black outs all over. She unknowingly stepped on Ruth and tried to feel her. She switched on the light on her phone. She was surprised to see that it was Ruth and Martin. She ran out of the house and called on Haggai. 

" The mistress and the boss are both in trouble. We need to call the doctor right away. I am afraid it something serious" said Lady Akeshia. 

Haggai ran to the study and telephoned a doctor to help them out. The doctor arrived in a jiffy. All the servants assisted in carrying them to their matrimonial. 

" Can someone tell me what exactly happened? How did the both of them end up fallen? Lady Akeshia tell us what exactly happened" Dr. Joseph asked Lady Akeshia. 

She was the most respected servant at the closed gates. She kept the most intimate secrets of the closed gates and dare to never tell anyone. 

" I had forgotten to switch off the lights here at the mansion. It was I stepped on Ruth unknowingly. I decided to switch on the light on my phone. That was how I saw the both of them lying on the floor and decided and called out for help" said Lady Akeshia hesitantly. 

Lady Akeshia did not really know what else to say. She was in a moment of shock and the only thing that she could see was smoke of bad luck.

" Alright! I would advice all of you to wait outside as I really need to examine them. I will give you both the feedback once I am done" All the servants moved outside. 

It was when Martin suddenly woke up. He still did not have the strength to sit on top of the bed. 

" What is happening to my wife? " Said Martin in a worried and hoarse voice.

" I am still examining her. I need to examine you too. Such kind of a thing has never happened to you before. Look , you a wounded. What really happened to you? You don't seem alright Martin. Your wounds need to heal first before you busy yourself up with work here at the closed gates. Your wife suffers from shock after falling down together with you from the staircase" said Dr. Joseph. 

" After falling with me from the staircase. But I have been in the study all this while. The only thing that I did was to take a lot of time soul searching. I have often wondered how you knewi was sick . Which servant called you? That servant must severely punished. He knows that we do not accept doctors from outside the closer gates. I am sorry doctor, but once someone enters this gate, they never leave easily unless they get permission from me. That is the rules here in closer gates and since you are professional doctor, you will not leave here till my wife and I gets well"

" But Sir, what about my....."

" I have decided and no one disobeys my laws. You better understand this as soon as possible. This is for the betterment of everyone" Commanded Martin. 

Was he turning crazy?

What did he just say to the doctor?

What bad luck.
