CHAPTER 37

After what happened , Ruth tried to apologise again but it was of no use. Martin forgave and forgave forgetfully. He led both his wife and Purist to the car. 

He drove off and this time he did not want to be accompanied by Haggai who as usual was his private security. He drove as fast as he could and stopped the car once he reached the abandoned highland which was near the closet gates. He got out of the car and sat in one of the rocks at the cliff. His mind seemed to be singing agape as he could not stop staring at his wife who was approaching him accompanied by his daughter. 

" Go back to the car Purist. Ruth and I will join you in a little while" Purist immediately went to the car. 

She could not understand what was really going on. She entered the car and laid herself to rest .

" What do the define as love? Is it the fact that I cannot respect my wife because she keeps certain secrets from me? Why am I not entitled to be loved and be treated like a husband? I came here so that you could tell me everything that I know. What happened to you at the cell of hell? " Martin kept asking numerous questions filled with lots of curiosity. 

" I don't know what happened to me at the cell of hell Martin. But I think I saw grandma Magdalene but it all happened as a vision I do not really remember anything. All I know is that I kept sleeping without waking up. At one point I really thought that I had died. It was when I saw a green flashlight then the cell of hell doors finally opened" said Ruth who seemed a bit tensed by the situation. 

She knew that she had lied and to her that was enough for the day. All she wanted was to go to the mall and buy all her new school uniforms. She was very much excited to go back to school and this time what excited her even more was that she was going to go to one of the national schools in town. She felt as happy as lark since she knew that the idea would make everyone around her to respect her especially those from her town. This was because not everyone was priviledged to get married and be able to go back to school. 

" I still want to know. If I am made to believe that my wife trusts me. You are concealing something from me. I will not allow you to do such things to me" said Martin as he held her arm tightly. 

He was astonished to see that Ruth had not been tensed by the situation. She instead smiled at him and kept nodding her head which meant no. She pushed him away but later on realized that it really hurt Purist. 

" You can never know what you want to know. Because I don't understand myself or remember anything. If I am to understand myself them I do believe the only way is to go back to the cell of hell. Would you allow me too? Please! Do it for the love that you have for me" said Ruth as she knelt but Martin did not allow her. 

" None of my family members will ever go back to the cell of hell. They will never. You will only live a comfortable life. You will just understand yourself soon.  I do believe in you and I know that you know the main reason why( Ruth nodded her head in disagreement) because you are my only wife and the only woman that I had ever loved" said Martin as he pecked her and led her to the car. 

" Let's go to the mall love. I can wait to try all those uniforms as I look for the one that will best fit me. It will all make me so happy. It is just what I have been waiting for and I am sure that things will be able to come out soon" said Ruth smiling. 

Martin was still silent. In a short while , Ruth finally realized that Martin was not taking the route to the mall. She felt a sudden anger filled in her face. 

" Why aren't you taking me to the mall? Was I dressed up like this to accompany you to all your errands and everything that you wished to do with me? Don't make things worse than they are. I have struggled enough to be where I am and I believe that someone like you willl not go ahead and use me the way he wants. Please take us to the mall" said Ruth a bit sad . 

" I know where Dad is going. He is going to the other mall which is outside town and outside closer gates. He used to go with mummy before mummy left us. It's our family mall mama" said Purist smiling. 

" Family mall! How comes I have never known anything about it? Because it is believed that the mall is owned by your grandmother and she said that she would never want her own blood to step into the mall" said Purist. 

Ruth was shocked by her reply. She wondered why then she had to go there if it was all not get grandmother's wish. It would have put her in a horrible position. She had to do something to prevent that. That was the problem with. She always had the heart to put everything into total consideration.

" We need to passg by the chemist love. I feel like am having chest pains and I really need some help. Or rather take me to the doctor before we leave town" Ruth said as she started groaning in pain. 

" What! What a sudden chest pain? Fine I will turn around and we will go see the doctor . After that, we will go to the shopping mall that is near the closer gates" said Martin. 

Ruth patted him at the back and smiled. 

He wondered at how weird Martin was and how he did the unexpected at unexpected time.
