CHAPTER 38

Martin retrieved his car to the opposite direction although he doubted the fact that Ruth was ill. 

But why?

What Purist told her was nothing but assumptions of the past which she could not have believed in yet she chose to. 

" Take us home instead Papa. If mama has chest pains, I do believe that she has to rest for a while" said Purist as she rested on her back. 

She seemed to have been already tired of the journey. 

" I think she is right love. Your daughter seems to be a little bit intelligent. I am super proud to have her in my life" said Ruth smiling. 

What was she even saying?

Martin drove as fast as he could to the closer gates. He was silent throughout the journey which astonished Ruth. She had never seen him so silent before. It was like the very first time when she annoyed him. 

" Take her to her room Lady Akeshia. Make sure that you nurse her using the bitter herbs. She is having chest pains" Martin ordered who left the room as soon as they arrived. 

" Is he angry with me? He was silent thought the journey. I feel so much worse and I cannot bear the fact that he can leave me in such a state" I said a bit devastated. 

" You are not sick ma. Your husband clearly knows that and that is the main reason why he decides to avoid you. I told you not to do anything to make him angry"

" What about the ways you told me to appease him?"

" It won't be possible ma. This is a different state, he does want to share into your lies and that is why he has left. I thought I already taught you on how to understand how your husband makes his decisions. He must be in the study. All you need to do is follow him and make things correct inorder to ensure that he is not angry anymore" said Lady Akeshia who signalled to Ruth to leave. 

As soon as she arrived , she realized that the study had been locked. She used her own spare key to open the door but was surprised as she smelt the Martin's perfume from her back. She still opened the door but did not see him in the study. She turned towards her back and was surprised to see Martin. 

" I thought I told Lady Akeshia to heal you with bitter herbs. What are you doing here? Are you healed? I knew lady Akeshia is still the same old herbalist that I knew. It's in the blood. And yet it is something that can never be erased" said Martin as he carried her back to the matrimonial room. 

Lady Akeshia was still seated on the room's couch Incase Ruth would return for treatment. But as soon as the couple arrived , she silently left the room. Martin rested Ruth on the bed. 

" I knew you are not sick that is the main reason why I decided not to be party to your lie. Today I want you to cook for me my luncheon. The maidens will not help you except for Purist whom you will have a chance to teach her your cooking techniques. I already informed Lady Ruby about it. She will inform you once she has finished preparing all the ingredients needed for my meal. Remember the fact that I like sweet and delicious meal with no salt" said Martin as he caressed Ruth on her cheeks. 

" No salt! You like taking foods with no salt. But I thought you loved salt"

" Only when the food is cooked by the maidens. My wife is only allowed to cook food with no salt. This is simply because salt favours the delicacy of the food yet I only want my wife to be delicious. It's with proper mind that I only want her to be delicious. Although I have never heard a taste if your salt" said Martin as he tried to kiss her but were interrupted by a knock at the door. 

" The ingredients are ready Sir. Your wife and daughter can finally come and prepare the meal. I only did not put salt since I know that you like your food with no salt especially when it's cooked by your wife" said Lady Ruby smiling. 

Martin did notsmile back at her even for a single moment. 

" I do not want my food too spicy. My wife and child will be there in a short while. We are still trying to solve a few issues which I do believe will be solved within no time. You can now go to the servant quarters. My wife will gladly take care if the kitchen" said Martin as he locked the door. 

He did not want anything anymore to do with Lady Ruby. He was still angry with her by the fact that she used his wife to get her permission to go and see her child. 

" Are you still harsh on her? I thought that you had already forgiven her all this while. But I do understand how you feel. To having stayed at the cell of hell for a sin that you never committed and being lashed out was one of the most horrible affairs. But it's in the past love. It is educative to forgive and leave the past behind" said Ruth smiling. 

She stood and made her hair ready to go to the kitchen but Martin stopped her. 

" I must taste one delicious thing before taking another bitter thing. I know you understand what I am saying"said Martin as he tried to undress her. 

" But I am as delicious as the meald I will cook today. That is the main reason why you have to let me go and cook so that you can taste me. Purist might had already been tired of waiting for me.  I do not want her to feel no more. Let me go" said Ruth as she passed Martin and opened the door. 

She waved at him and left. Martin slept on his bed angrily and regretful.
