CHAPTER 63

He was just afraid of the truth that Magdalene was a witch. 

Martin left to his study. He needed sometime to think and make a decision.

After all, he wouldn't force Ruth to leave the closer. There was no way that Magdalene was going to allow him to rule a long side them. 

Lady Akeshia followed Martin to the study. She still felt to convince Martin to fight for what she had sacrificed for all the years.  She entered the study and locked the door. 

" Martin ! I am truly begging you to stay behind and fight for us. Fight for one thing that your father and I sacrificed the most. Do not let us leave the closer gates without putting on a fight. If you truly respect me as your mother, then you will do this one thing that I truly wish for" said Lady Akeshia. 

Martin nodded his head in agreement. He leaned on Lady Akeshia's thighs for a while as he sympathized with himself.

In a jiffy, the strong bell of the closer gates rang twice. Martin knew that it meant that Magdalene was pushing on with the plans to take the closer gates away from him. Martin went to the parlour and found Magdalene seated at the power couch accompanied by Naomi.

" It's not happening again. I am not handling the powers of the close gates to you grandma. This power belongs to me and only I can give you the header to rule of which I do not know where it is. You better stop you claims to rule. I will dismiss the crowd and inform them that it was a big mistake .The ringing of the two bells meant exactly something else" said Martin. 

Ruth who had already arrived was shocked by the whole news. Martin had no idea that Ruth had heard everything he had said. Be thought that Ruth was still in her room resting. 

" Martin! You told me you would do the right thing. You told you will return the closer gates to it's rightful owner. What changed your mind? We do quarrel at times, but this.....I am sorry about this simple mistake but I won't forgive you till you do the right thing. I won't forgive you till you ensure that the closer is back to Magdalene my grandma" said Ruth who meant she was clear by her words.

Martin looked at Ruth it as if he signalled her to leave but she instead helped herself to push her wheelchair and went close to Naomi and Magdalene. She held Magdalene's and Naomi's hand tightly. 

She felt it was time to protect family. It was time for her to do what she thought was right for her family. Friends would have hurted her and made her feel the worst but family was everything for they would never forsake anyone.

" If you decide to stay the ruler of the closer gates, then I will our matrimonial room and go to the guest room or ether grandma or mama in their room. It's time for you to return to my family what's rightfully theirs" Ruth added which astonished Martin.

Martin kept running his hair. Anybody would think that he was turning crazy. 

Whom would he choose? 

His loving wife or his perfect father? 

It was a question with no sudden reply.

Everybody was astonished by everything that they heard. They felt a certain pain in them. Martin went upstairs and came back with the header, he surrendered it to Magdalene and gave her the permission to finally go and face the people. 

" Listen to me young man . This header is fake. Where is the real header? " asked Magdalene angrily.

Martin widened his eyes in disbelief. It was the header that he had often used since he became the ruler of the closer gates. 

" I am sure that this is the header that I have always used all this year. How comes the header is fake? You don't know what you are saying grandma Mag......" Said Martin but Magdalene suddenly interrupted. 

" I know exactly what I am saying. I know the fact that this header is a fake . In this case, we have to dismiss the crowd till we find the individual who has the real hearder. I believe you can do that Lady Akeshia" said Magdalene. 

Lady Akeshia angrily went to dismiss the crowd. 

" Grandma! I spoke with Tere some few hours before you decided to take the power of the closer gates. Do you think she could have done it? I believe that she could because she still had hopes that her marriage would go back to the way it was before" said Ruth . 

Martin looked outside the window. He accidentally saw Tere having a conversation with Haggai. He wasn't sure. He might had been hallucinating since Ruth mentioned her. 

" Can I have a private conversation with my wife Ruth?" Everybody nodded their head in agreement.

Martin assisted Ruth to go upstairs. They both went to their matrimonial room upstairs. 

" Why are you supporting them Ruth? I thought they were on my side. When exactly did you have a conversation with Tere?" Asked Martin filled with lots of confusion and anger.

" Now it's time for you to hear the whole truth. It was Tere who helped me to go to the hospital that day. She saved my life but she would do anything just to be close to you. She would do anything to make you feel fortunate and happy . You give that header to my grandma. She deserves it since she is it's true that the closer gates beling to her"

" Don't you want that ruling anymore? "

" No! Not at the expense of my own grandma. Besides, you promised to hand it over to her. What changed your mind?" Asked Ruth filled with lots of curiosity.

She had numerous questions to answer and yet knew that not all of them would be answered . Martin had already made up his mind. 

But yet according to her, family mattered a lot and it was time to make family smile.
