CHAPTER 62

Naomi seemed terrified by the whole situation. 

She did not want to be involved in anything that consisted the closer gates. She saw the anger in Magdalene's eyes. She decided to maintain silence. 

" I know who tried kill her but for the sake of the family I will remain silent with it. Naomi! Don't try to be so high in this case. I am your mother and I know what's right for everyone" said Magdalene.

" Then in that case I will let you handle it. Ruth was right to tell me to go back home. I am leaving mama. I am going back to my family" said Naomi. 

She wanted to leave but Magdalene suddenly stopped her. She ordered her to sit down. 

" You listen to me Naomi. You are not leaving the closer gates. You are staying right here. You will not do the same thing you will did to me with the father of Ruth. Do not forget that you are the main reason among them why I went to the cell of hell" shouted Magdalene at Naomi. 

Lady Akeshia left looking dissapointed. Magdalene saw it but did not bother about her. 

" Mama no. You cannot do this to me mama I have spent most of my times trying to prove to you that I can have a family as well. You cannot deprive me of my rights to leave the closer gates. I am going and that's my final decision" said Naomi. 

" Not after I have ordered Haggai to let you go. You know what I am talking about. I am very soon taking the closer gates and you will have to be behind me in everything"

" Then my family will have no choice than to come back here. My family will stay wherever I stay. If you don't do this, then I will have no choice than to run away from the closer gates" said Naomi. 

Magdalene sat on the floor crying. Naomi looked at her astonished since she did not expect that. She went close to Magdalene and tried to calm her down. Magdalene grabbed her hand and made her to fall on the ground.

" This will be the last time I will sit on the floor be because you have dissapointed me. No matter how old you are, you must remember that you are my own daughter. My only daughter" said Magdalene.

Lady Akeshia who had come back and listened to their conversation slowly left crying. Unfortunately, she bumped into her annoying daughter Faith. She was already bored by her. Faith would not easily give her her space. 

" Mama! You almost fell here. Are you alright? " Asked Faith filled with lots of concerns.

" Leave me alone Faith. I have a lot of things to think about. You just don't have to follow me around the way you want because you are proud that I am your mother. Just leave me alone. Inform your brother Martin to come to my room. You can come a long with him if you want" said Lady Akeshia who entered her room and locked the door. 

Faith went straight to the study and informed Martin about what had happened and the fact that lady Akeshia wanted to have conversation with them. They went faster to her room and locked the door. 

" Martin forced me to stay at the closer gates without my wish. Faith would pamper me like a child yet I am his mother. If you both love me as your mother then you must do this one thing. You must do everything you can to let Naomi leave this closer gates" said Lady Akeshia. 

Ruth and Martin widened their eyes in disbelief. They found it hard to understand what exactly Lady Akeshia was saying.

" Ma....I think Ruth still wants to stay with her mother. It's been long since they saw each other and at this time it is important for Ruth that her mother should stay around. Naomi's songs usually cure her wounds pains" said Martin who seemed sure by his words. 

Lady Akeshia nodded her head in agreement. There was no way that she would convince Martin to do such a thing. Of course he wouldn't listen to her. He wouldn't agree on anything because he was used to make decisions on his own without involving anyone. 

" And why would you want that mama? I thought this was good for the family. I thought that it was good that Naomi would stay here to look after Ruth" said Faith filled with lots of curiosity. 

" Nothing! Because you both have no idea that Magdalene is planning to take over the closer gates today and rule it accompanied by her very own daughter Naomi. I am sure that Ruth has no idea about this" Said Lady Akeshia. 

" It okay mama. I know about that. I am the one who told her to do so. I want to live a peaceful life with my wife Ruth and my beloved daughter Purist. I am sure that it will be a good decision" said Martin. 

Lady Akeshia looked at Martin angrily. Lady Akeshia slapped Martin which astonished him. Lady Akeshia had never slapped Martin before. 

" How could you so silly to do that Martin? How could you be so silly to an extent that you went and told her to take over the closer gates? Do you both know how much I have sacrificed for this? To be away from my two children to an extent that my own son slapped me thinking I was one of the labourers. Fight for the power of the closer gates because it's yours. Magdalene is only a witch. She belongs to that cell of hell which she created. She does not belong in this kind of environment that old woman" said Lady Akeshia angrily.

" Mama! What is that you are not telling me and Faith? Which sacrifices did you make that pushed you away from us? I need to know the total whole truth. I need to know the main reason why you do not want Magdalene and Naomi to rule over the closer gates" asked Faith with lots of confidence. 

Faith had never felt that confident but she knew Lady Akeshia was her mother. 

" Because it is really true that Magdalene is a witch. She is the known as the greatest witch of the closer gates. Ruth is a witch too. She inherited it from her grandmother Magdalene and that is the main reason why she can see the past. That is the main reason why she knew from the very first moment that I was your mother" said Lady Akeshia hesitantly. 

She knew that she had lied about that. She knew that even her daughter faith had the power to see the future .

Did that make her a witch too?

No.

Since Faith was made to believe that when she saw the future was nothing more than a vision.

She grew up knowing that she could see Godly visions. 

" Then we will leave the closer gates. The power of a witch is much stronger than the power of human. And if we are going to leave, there is no way that I will be leaving my lovely Ruth behind" said Martin who left the room . 

Martin did not really want to discuss about the situation any longer. It was a high time that Martin would do what he longed for. He went straight to his matrimonial room and started parking his gowns in a suitcase. Ruth who was still sleeping walked up from the bed shocked. 

" Are you leaving Martin? Are you leaving the closer gates?" Asked Ruth filled with so much fear. 

" Yes! You and my family are leaving the closer gates. There is no way that I would leave you behind. There is no way that I would dare to do that. I am parking your gowns too but only the expensive ones. The cheaper ones will be sold to the labourers by their fellow labourers to earn profit . We shall leave the closer gates tonight" said Martin.

" No Martin. Have you asked me if this what I want? Do you think that I would live following your commands and doing everything that you say? What about my schooling? What about my family? I will not leave the closer gates without them. Infact I am not leaving this place" said Ruth who went back to sleep. 

Martin fell on the ground. He did not want to cry anymore. He needed a friend to talk but it was hard since Martin hardly kept any friends. 

He only associated with people of his social standards. And now all of them had left the closer gates and the city. Would he share his problems with one of his labourers?

Probably not Haggai since Haggai was the man who participated in the unfaithfulness of his ex wife. 

He had kept a lot of secrets. How could he fight for the power of the closer gates? 

He was just afraid of the truth that
