CHAPTER 68

Ruth was amazed by the fact that her life was going to change. 

It had reached evening but her family had not yet arrived. Ruth was beginning to have a lot of worries. She could hardly sleep. It was also odd that her mother had left to buy her french fries and since then she had not heard from her mother.

Ruth decided to go to look for them but she unfortunately cake across Martin as soon as she left her room. 

" You let me go Martin , I have to find my mother. Since she left I have not heard anything from her and my father and sister too. You have no say in this because it's my family Martin and the only thing that I should do is to go and get them" said Ruth. 

Martin widened his eyes in disbelief. For the first time since their marriage , Ruth had spoken to her with such a bad tone. He tried to force Ruth to go back to the room but she resisted. 

" What do you think Martin? I have said I am not going back to the room without my family" said Ruth. 

Before Ruth could move any further, she saw Naomi approaching them. She wiped her tears and suddenly began to smile. She went ahead and hugged her mother tightly till Naomi almost fell. 

" Mama! Don't be long again. Besides, I feel a bit well and I keep wondering why the doctors cannot discharge me. It's a pain in me mama . I am tired of staying in this hospital where only the two of us love each other" said Ruth as she looked at Martin who just left. 

It was not what exactly Ruth had wanted to say. She just felt she needed to say it in order to remove the possessiveness of Martin. She was already tired if it. The only she could not yet believe was that Martin was dead. 

Naomi escorted her to the room and handed over the french fries to her . It seemed she had not eaten the whole day just waiting for them.

Martin entered the room unexpectedly. He suggested that he should have a private talk with Ruth.

Since he suggested in a good manner, Naomi had no choice than to let them have a proper conversation. 

" What's wrong Ru.....?" Asked Martin but Ruth suddenly interrupted by signaling him to be silent.

" There is nothing wrong . As soon as your sister comes out of comma, I will sue her and send her to jail. What she has done to me together with your mother is unbelievable. Do you know what hurts the most? Is that you do not do anything since they are your family and you deeply love them. What about your wife? What about how I feel Martin? Anyway, I should be hurting since I am going back to my hometown to continue with my studies. I feel that is the best thing for me" said Ruth . 

" You say I don't care about you. Why are you being unfair? Who saved you from the evilness of Rodgers? Who wanted to take her own sister to the beggars corner? You have no means to say thank you. So this is the kind of thank you you give me. I should have known that I made a mistake marrying a minor like you" said Martin who left the room. 

Ruth was shocked . She knew Martin wouldn't do anything to hurt. Why did she have to tell him all this? 

Martin was already frustruated .What had he not done for her? He risked his own life just to marry a minor when he knew he would be sent to prison. 

What a horrible nightmare had his marriage become. 

Martin went to the waiting room. He held Akeshia's arm and led her outside. Ruth could see them from the window where she was seated on the infirmary bed at the third floor . She could sense that they were quarreling. 

" Look now Akeshia. I have lost my wife because of you. You have no idea how much I love that little girl. I have spent most of my life trying to make her happy but all you do is push her away from me. Now she will go back to her hometown and forget about me. I will be lonely again" Martin shouted at Akeshia.

" Lonely! You will be lonely again. How will you be lonely when Faith and I will be with you for the rest of your life? Does that mean you love her than your own blood? You must be mistaken. You must remember that you should dedicate everything to your family and love them unconditionally above everything else" said Akeshia who went back to the infirmary. 

She did not want to talk anymore about that matter. It was a matter which had already bored her. Anyway, she didn't feel bad after what she had spoken.

She had to make Martin understand that family was family. 

Ruth immediately went back to sleep as soon as Magdalene entered the room. She did not want to have a conversation with Magdalene. She was already irritated by the fact that Magdalene was not taking any action towards Faith. Magdalene tried to wake her up but Ruth pretended to be deep asleep. 

" I know you are deep asleep. You only need to get well soon then we will go back to the closer gates and continue with my mission. I love you so much Ruth. You might think I don't want to take any action on Faith but my revenge towards her is still waiting. It will be a tough and weird revenge that she won't be able to forget for the rest of her life. That's why it is a must that she must wake up from comma" said Magdalene. 

On hearing this, Ruth suddenly opened her eyes. She hugged Magdalene filled with lots of excitement. 

" Thank you so much grandma. Do you know what? I will be going back to my hometown to continue with my education. I will make sure that I become the teacher I have always dreamt to be. Then I will come back to the closer gates and look after my grandma when she is aged more and can no longer climb stairs cases with get two legs" said Ruth smiling. 

Ruth's smile suddenly turned to sadness. She noticed that Magdalene was not happy with whatever she had said. How could say she would go back to her hometown? 

' How comes she does not know that I wanted the closer gates back for the sake of her? How could I let Martin control her to such an extent? No! I will do everything to make sure that she does not leave the closer gates' Magdalene thought about all this. 

She faked her smile but Ruth could still feel that she faked it. Magdalene immediately laid her to sleep and left the room. She went straight to the waiting room and say beside Naomi. 

" You won't take my granddaughter anywhere. Ruth belongs to the closer gates only. You can go back to our hometown alone" Magdalene whispered at Naomi. 

Naomi stood up and went to the other chair. She did not want to listen to Ruth anymore. A lot of things had happened which made her to fear. 

At that instance, Lady Ruby arrived with suitcase full of clothes. She was poor in listening to instructions. She had been told to bring Faith's and Ruth's clothes but she instead brought everyone's clothes. She had been told to cone a long with one servant but she instead came alone. 

Lady Ruby was chased away from the hospital. She had indeed dissapointed everyone. Magdalene promised her that she would rip her off her job once she came back to the closer gates. 

Martin ordered them to go back home. He promised to take care of both Ruth and Faith. 

He knew that all the women were tired and they all needed to rest. Naomi had disagreed with him but Magdalene managed to convince her to go back to the closer gates. 

They arrived at the closer gates and we're surprised to find everyone standing outside the mansion praying. They were holding a picture that contained both Ruth and Faith. The picture was taken when they started bonding with each other. That was before Faith kidnapped Ruth and led her to Rodgers.

Magdalene tried to dismiss them bit nobody dared to leave. They said that they would only leave once they saw both Faith and Ruth at the mansion and most especially Ruth. 

They had grown to love her. She had often helped a lot of people at the closer gates. This was one virtue that Martin lacked since he never cared about other people. 

He had grown up getting everything in life and this he felt that that was the only thing that he needed. Only power and fame was the main motto. 

Maybe Martin was only greedy .
