CHAPTER 78

Ruth widened her eyes in disbelief. She could not believe that it was happening all over again. 

She had never been so scared. Tere drove the car at a very high speed and this brought all the bad memories that Ruth had encountered before. Ruth remembered how she lost her long term friend Rodgers due to over speeding. 

" Drive slowly Tere or else we might get into an accident. I hope you have not forgotten what happened to Rodgers, Faith and I sometime back" said Ruth crying.

" I remember very well how Rodgers died in that tragic accident because of the love he had for you. It was a great joy that my beloved Rodgers died for love he had for you but I am not like him. I always focus on the road" said Tere laughing annoyingly. 

Tere entered through the woods and drove quickly into an abandoned house.  Ruth remembered the house very well. It was where Rodgers and Ruth had held their first anniversary since they started their relationship which did not last more than a year. 

Ruth got out of the car and entered the house. It was fully decorated as if there was going to be a memorable party. 

" Surprised! Of course there will be a party for me once you are dead" shouted Tere pointing at Ruth. 

Ruth kept surveying the house. She went to the backyard and remembered how she used to fry fish for Rodgers since fish was Rodgers's favourite. She then saw a big dish which was kept on top of the table. She tried to go and open it but Tere stopped her. 

" Listen to me Ruth. You will open this dish once you win the fight and stab me but before you manage to do that , then I would have beat you up and stabbed you to death" said Tere. 

" I am not going to join you in this fight. Murderers like you and Faith are the ones who deserve to fight with each other and not me" said Ruth who wanted to leave but Tere stopped her. 

Tere took her to one of the backyard windows. Ruth saw Naomi tied up all over her body and there was somebody standing beside her who was ready to push down the stool so that Naomi would hang to death. 

" Listen to me. If you do not participate with me in this fight then I will tell her to push that stool and your mother will die all because of you" said Tere. 

" Alright! Let's do this and I swear I will cut you into tiny pieces and feed you to the dogs you vagabond" said Ruth crying. 

They began to fight but Ruth was not an experienced fighter since she never grew up on the closer gates like Tere who were taught how to fight in their daily lives. Within a few minutes , Tere had managed to kick Ruth down . She therefore dashed for the knife and tried to stab Ruth but Ruth resisted by holding the knife between her arms. She did this as long as she could until her strength and breath was no more and she finally stopped resisted. This gave Tere a chance to stab Ruth.

But before Tere could Stab Ruth, Tere felt a strong blow on her head and fell on the ground. Ruth finally opened her eyes filled with lots of fear. 

" Do not worry. You don't deserve all the wrong things happening in your life" said the voice of the lady. 

The lady helped Ruth to stand up and they therefore rashed to the room where Naomi was and untied her. They therefore ran away from there and took Tere's car with them but on the highway, the lady insisted that they should boarder another taxi and leave her with the car. 

" Yes we will but I just want to know who you are that saved my life" said Ruth filled with lots of curiosity. 

Of course! Ruth could not have recognized the woman since the woman had hidden her face. She decided to reveal her face. Naomi and Ruth were astonished to find out that it was Faith.

" Faith! You saved my life today " said Ruth crying. 

" It's nothing Ruth. It's all I could have done for all the mess I have made in your life. I need to go back before my boss notices that I have left" said Faith crying. 

" Faith! You are my sister and even though I do not know where you are going right now, you will always be in my heart. I love you so much Faith" said Ruth who left the car accompanied by Naomi. 

They both boardered a taxi and left to the closer gates. They arrived during at the wee hours of the nights. They switched on the mansion lights and surprisingly saw Magdalene swinging on her chair while taking a cup of coffee. 

" Where have you both been? Were you planning to celebrate Ruth's birthday without me? Have you forgotten that tomorrow is school Ruth?" Asked Magdalene angrily. 

" What are you talking about Mama? Ruth and I were involved in some kind of trouble. Go and rest Ruth. I will definetly speak to your grandma" said Naomi as Ruth nodded her head in agreement. 

" Then explain to me what I need to know" said Magdalene filled with lots of curiosity. 

She wouldn't dare sleep without being told what exactly had happened even though she knew that curiosity killed the cat. 

" I was on my way here like I promised in the morning when I met with Tere. She invited me for a coffee drink and the next thing is that I found myself in an abandoned house. After so many hours, I saw Ruth. Tere threatened Ruth to get into a fight with her or else she would kill me. Ruth lost the fight and Tere tried to kill her but luck was on our side since somebody came to our aid" said Naomi. 

" And who is this person who came to your aid?" 

" No mama, we promised that person not to mention her name. We do believe that you will come to know her someday for she is a good person" said Naomi smiling. 

" You know I wouldn't sleep till you tell me who that person who came to your aid was"

" Mama! Let this be between us and Ruth shouldn't know that you have an idea about it" Naomi whispered on Ruth's ear. " The person who helped us is Faith and she is back in town and does not want anyone to have an idea about it" 

Naomi did not want Magdalene to ask her numerous questions any longer since Magdalene was known for being inquisitive. She quickly assisted Magdalene upstairs and requested her to rest beside Ruth who still slept on Magdalene's room. She therefore covered Magdalene and Ruth with a duvet. 

Naomi therefore went to the garden. She did not want to sleep as she felt she needed sometime alone. She stayed there till she heard someone trying to grab her hand from her back. She looked behind her and was astonished to see that it was Tere. 

" What do you want? Have you not got what you wanted? Leave me alone and go back to your room and sleep" said Naomi in a pellucid voice since Naomi did want to argue with Tere. 

" Yes  I know, but I did not get whatever I wanted. I did not get to kill Ruth on her birthday which was the very day which she was born. I had a lot of plans for you since I never wanted to kill you but someone outshined me. Someone came and fought for the both of you. Who could have that person been?" Asked Tere filled with lots of curiosity.

" I do not know who the person is and I do not think we will ever know  the person since we are both blind. Excuse me! I want to go to my room and sleep since tomorrow I have to wake up my dear Ruth and prepare her to go to school" said Naomi who left. 

Tere could not stop wondering who the person was. She had never seen such a weird thing happen before. She also felt it useless to remain in the garden thinking about the matter by herself. She went into her matrimonial room and slept. 

She kept smiling as she looked at Martin. Tere felt as if her dreams had became a reality. There was no single day that she was ever going to give Martin back to Ruth. She would rather kill them than watch them get back together. 

She finally turned on the left side of her bed and slept. Yet it was a horrible night since Tere had a lot of nightmares. She had a night mare that she had lost Martin and Purist and everyone at the closer gates stoned her to death. 

Tere woke up and sat in the corner of the room crying. None of her dreams had never come go a reality.

She regretted being ruthless and inhuman to Ruth . She felt she should go and apologize to Ruth and surrender everything back to her before it was too late.
