CHAPTER 144
Ruth wanted to follow Ryan but Nelly stopped her by holding her arm and shooking her head warning Ruth not to leave. Ruth decided to stay even if she did not understand the main reason why Nelly warned her not to leave.
" Let me explain to you then. Ryan is still angry with you and therefore needs sometime alone to be able to forget the fact that you tried to tease his culture. He does not want to show you his anger. Can we please go to the dining and gave our meal? I am very hungry" Said Nelly who left the room accompanied by Faith and Naomi.
Ruth stayed behind since she was still in a deep state of confusion. It seems that she had only started falling in love with Ryan but was not able to understand the true nature of his character. She decided to not think about all those but joined the others in the dining table.
Lawrence entered the house and went straight to the dining room after he heard the sweet aroma of the delicacies that Nelly and Ruth had prepared. He wondered why Ryan decided to leave this delicacy food since he passed by him at the date. He immediately sat on the dining table beside Nelly. Faith stood and wanted to serve Lawrence but Lawrence stopped him.
" You cannot serve my food. You are the main reason why my wife has goon to mambo cell and we have no idea when she will be able to accompany. That will be after the appointment of the new case manager. It might even take a month before a new case manager is ordained and made ready to take over the seat" shouted Lawrence at Faith angrily.
Faith silently sat back on her dining chair. She felt sad at how Lawrence blamed her for the mistake of Vivian.
" Lawrence! Can I serve you food then?" Asked Ruth in a pellucid voice.
" No! I will serve my own food by myself. This whole Ruth Faith family is a bad luck to me. I hope that this food was not also prepared by the both of you either. I am afraid that my food might be poisoned" said Lawrence who stood and started serving his food .
" I am afraid that you will not be able to eat this food after I tell you what I have to say. This food has been cooked by Faith and if you don't want eat the food then you can leave it" said Ruth who continued eating her food.
" Ruth is just lying to you to leave the food that I have cooked by myself just for my brothers. Let me serve you Lawrence" said Nelly who stood up and started serving Lawrence.
Nelly understood Lawrence. She knew that if Lawrence left the food then he would fall sick. Therefore felt that it was not bad to lie to her own family once in a while.
" Thank you sister. I hope you will be the one to cook for us from now on or we might as well buy food from the restaurant. How can I do that? I even forgot that Ruth banned both my wife and I from buying food in any restaurant and snacks from any vendor in our own town" said Lawrence who took his food as soon as Nelly finished serving her and began to eat.
Ruth watched him eat as she smiled. She did not want to cause a commotion by taliking against what Nelly had said. She knew that Nelly only lied in order to make her own brother eat.
As soon as Naomi finished eating, she left the dining room. Ruty decided to assist her go to her room since Naomi had not fully recovered too. Naomi was tired and decided to rest as soon as she entered her room.
" You can leave but you must remember this, don't ever tease somebody's culture. You are my wonderful daughter and I won't ever be able to bear it if you loose that prestigious relationship with Ryan. As a mother I do feel that Ryan will be a good husband to you" said Naomi smiling.
" Yes mama but please do not speak as if you are dying anytime soon. I will never make a mockery of anybody's life and culture ever again" said Ruth who left the room .
This was the first time out of so many years that Ruth's mother scolded her in such a serious tone. It was then that it dawned on Ruth that what she had done was not a good thing at all. She decided to go to the dining room to check if Ryan had returned and was eating but Ryan had not yet returned. She decided to sit at the living room and wait for Ryan to return since it was already in the evening.
Evening passed but there was still no presence of Ryan. Ruth still continued waiting for Ryan till she finally fell asleep. Everybody in the mansion fell asleep to akd nobody was able to go to the living room to wake up Ruth to go and sleep.
Ryan arrived at the mansion when it was almost midnight. He was astonished to see Ruth sleeping on the couch as soon as he switched on the light.
He went towards Ruth and tried to wake her up but Ruth was already deep asleep. Ryan decided to carry Ruth and take Ruth to her room but found that Ruth's bed was full of clothes which she was supposed to arrange them in the closet but had not arranged them yet as soon as he arrived.
Ryan decided to take Ruth to his room. He threw her on top of the bed which made Ruth to wake up.
" Ryan! Your room....my room...." Said Ruth but Ryan suddenly interrupted.
" Are you asking if this is your room? This is not your room my future wife. This is my room and you will sleep here tonight. Please sleep because it's already late" said Ryan in a pellucid voice smiling.
" Why are you not angry at me anymore? I doubt if you have taken any meal today. You might fall illl Ryan. Can we please go to the dining?" Said Ruth smiling.
Ruth felt that Ryan had not yet taken his meal even because she did not see Ryan arrive from the mansion. Ruth rose from the bed and went towards Ryan. She held Ryan's arm and led him to the dining table. Ruth therefore requested Ryan to sit on the dining chair and placed a napkin around his neck.
Ruth went to the kitchen and preheat the food then brought it to Ryan at the dining table.
" You will have to eat my lovely Ryan. I want to get angry to a husband whom holds more weight than I do. I understand that you are still angry with me Ryan but I am trying to do everything to make you forgive me. I am begging you to forgive me Ryan. Do it for the sake of our love please" said Ruth.
" Do I have to do this for the sake of our love? Why are you trying to put my love for you into test you silly lady?" Said Ryan as he caressed Ruth on his cheeks.
" Because it's midnight and it's only the two of us who are awake in this room. Can't you realize that that's the special thing between us? That is the main reason why our love has been put into a test. Please eat faster because I can't wait to sleep in between your sheets today and beside you. I have just realized that I love you so much Ryan. My love for you is an unconditional type of love" said Ruth.
Ryan moved towards Ruth and tried to kiss her but Ruth resisted. This made Ryan to be filled with lots of anger.
" Why? Why can't I be intimate with you? Don't we live each other? Don't you love me?" Asked Ryan angrily.
" I love you Ryan but we don't just have to get intimate. None of either ourboth cultures rites of marriage have already been done. I suggest that you give me more time. I am begging you Ryan. Please don't turn out to be like Martin. I hope that you will always understand me" said Ruth.
" I will understand you Ruth only when you suddenly get married to me at the case square. And this time I will be as happy as a lark because the marriage will be conducted by my own sister Nelly. Let's go and sleep please" said Ryan who stood and held Ruth's arm reading Ruth to his room.
As soon as they entered, Ryan decided to lock the room from the inside. He did not want anybody to disturb them the next morning since they had slept late. They both slept that night facing different sides on the bed. This truly proved to them that even if they managed to get married, then marriage was not a bed of roses. Sometimes they had to agree to disagree.
