CHAPTER 126

Tere was still the heartless Tere that people knew. It seemed that she was not going to change no matter what. She finally rang the bell for one last time to confirm if everyone was there. She clapped for everyone as soon as she realized that there was no one left behind.

" Good! You are still the obidient people of the closer gates that I know. Why are you all looking at me like that? Am I a ghost? If I could be a ghost then I would have been haunting all of you in your dreams. Anyway, I have called this meeting to explain to all of you about the unconditional love that I have for Martin. Why are you all going to fight for a woman who does not even care about the people of the closer gates?" Asked Tere laughing annoyingly since she thought that she could be able to pursuade people not to participate in the war.

" Why should he not to be with Ruth? Were you not the one who went ahead and got married to Haggai? You even went to a point that you sent your ex-husband to the cell of hell and jail as well. Why do you want us to listen to you? Our joy is if Ruth comes back to the closer gates accompanied by Purist and get married to Martin. We loved that kind of family and not the one that you want to initiate. Do you understand us? " Said one of the men from the multitude. 

Tere shook her head in disbelief. This truly proved that people of the closer gates were no longer afraid of her and her rules. 

" She has no right to talk against two lovely couples like that. This woman choose her path by herself and ended up killing her own daughter Vela in that wrong path. That poor girl did not deserve a mother like you and the kind of death that she suffered. That only does not give you the right to address us in any way" said one of the women among the multitude.

" Arrest that man and that woman at once. No one dares to speak against my wish. I still hold a part of the closer gates" Tere commanded the warriors who were standing by the closer gates bell.

Martin who was not pleased by Tere immediately left the balcony and went to the meeting square. He went towards Tere and slapped Tere which astonished everyone. This was simply because it was long before Martin dared to slap a woman unless he was triggered to do so. 

" Nobody is going to be arrested today. The closer gates gives everyone the right to express their own opinions. Just because we have agreed to be partner and I have given you half of the closer gates does not really mean that you can harass everybody over here. Can you all go back to your homes? Ignore everything that Tere has told all of you today" Shouted Martin at Tere who signalled everyone to leave the meeting square.

Everyone left except for Tere , Martin and the warriors. Tere looked at Martin as tears welled down her eyes. Martin did not bother to comfort her but left. He felt that she was wrong on controlling the people of closer gates in such a manner. Akeshia who saw everything that happened approached Tere and comforted her which made Tere to have lots of doubts. She wiped her tears and moved away from Akeshia.

" Your behavior is very strange Akeshia. You were fond of Ruth a few days ago but now you are suddenly fond of me? That brings a lot of questions in my heart and soul. I can't bring myself to trust you so much Akeshia. No! I cannot really do that" said Tere. 

" Alright! It's fine if you want me to go ahead and support Martin and Ruth. I wish you would understand where I am coming from. I know that I wanted her to come back to the closer gates even after she disrespected me but I came to think about it and resoulted that it's not what I wanted. You have been by Martin's side all this while and I think that all Martin deserves is you. He doesn't deserve to go to this wretched war" said Akeshia as tears welled down her eyes.

Tere went towards Akeshia and wiped her tears. She felt that Akeshia was sincere and that there was no need to doubt her. 

" Then together we will make him understand that Ruth is not right for him even if he wins the case. Are you going to help me in this mama?" Asked Tere in mixed emotions.

" Yes my daughter but you have to do one more thing before we help each other in this. You will have to divorce Haggai and send him out of the closer gates for good or the cell of hell. The exact way you sent my son for so many years to the cell of hell then to jail. Will you also do that for me?" Asked Akeshia smiling.

" I am going to do that Mama. I am so happy that my mama is on my side once again. It makes me happy to feel this. It's a feeling of hapiness and joy. I love you so much mama" said Tere as she hugged Akeshia who left. 

Tere knew that she needed to figure out how she could send Haggai to the cell of hell without Haggai noticing. She went to Haggai's room and found out that he was already sleeping which seemed unusual. He went on top of Haggai's drawer and was astonished to find out that there were divorce papers on top of it. Tere looked at the divorce papers which astonished her as soon as she saw that it was her divorce papers. 

Tere widened her eyes in disbelief. She knew that it was the work of Akeshia. She understood that it was a test of her loyalty. She immediately took the divorce papers and looked for a pen inside one of the drawers and signed the divorce papers. Tere therefore placed the divorce papers on top of the drawer and wanted to leave but was astonished when Haggai held her arm tightly. 

" Why Tere? Why divorce me and want nothing more to do with me? I just love you too much" said Haggai. 

" There always comes a time where things end. Our marriage has just come to an end that way. All you need to do is to sign the divorce papers then I will have nothing else to do with you. Do that if you really love me the way you have always claimed you did" said Tere feeling a little bit sad.

" I am sorry but I cannot do this Tere. I have always loved you above anything else in this world. How then will I be able to get rid of you? No! You either shine your way into my bed or consider Martin and Purist dead. You have controlled me too much in this marriage but not any longer. There must always be a limit" said Haggai angrily. 

" I am giving you three days to sign those divorce papers. I hope you don't expect me to shine my way into your bed as if I were some dead meat ready to be fed to the dogs. Just divorce me" said Tere in a calm voice and left. 

She immediately ran to her room as tears welled down her eyes. She felt that she had wronged Haggai. Tere took water and wanted to drink but the water glass fell due to a lot of tension. She tried to pick the pieces of glasses but was astonished as Akeshia held her arm and assisted her to get up. 

" I am glad that you have signed the divorce papers. I know this might be hard for you but it was the right thing to do. Haggai did not deserve you as a woman. The only thing that he did was to keep on hurting you and my son" Said Akeshia.

" Mama! We are in this together. I will marry your son once again and make him forget about Ruth for good. Thank you for trusting me in this chance to marry Ryan especially now that I own half of the closer gates" said Tere as she hugged Akeshia.

Haggai on the hand took the divorce papers and burnt them. He knew that once he burnt the papers then his marriage to Tere would never be considered null and void. As soon as the papers finished getting burnt, Haggai was astonished as he saw a document fell on his feet. He looked at the document and was astonished to find out that it was another divorce paper already signed by Tere. He angrily took the papers and officially signed them then threw them outside the window which fell on Martin who was busy arranging the weapons. 

Martin picked the document and was astonished to find out that it was Tere's and Haggai's divorce papers which were already signed. He placed the divorce papers on his heart and smiled.
