CHAPTER 180

Ruth decided to go back to the kitchen inorder to help Faith finish the kitchen chores but was astonished to hear Tere calling out her name ten minutes later. Ruth immediately went to the living room accompanied by Faith. Everybody had already converged there wondering what was really going on.

" Haven't I kept my promise? I have brought my daughter Purist to you. I already accepted along time ago that I would never be her mother. You can both live happily now. Not even her marriage to that old man will be an obstacle because I have destroyed" said Tere but Ruth looked at Tere not convinced by her words since she did not see Purist anywhere around the living room.

This made Ruth to go towards Tere and slap her since she felt that that was an act of mockery.

" What are you talking about? Have you never stopped running insane? Where is my daughter?" Asked Ruth filled with lots of anger.

" I am here mama" said Purist as she entered the living room carrying her suitcase.

As soon as she saw Ruth, Purist dropped her suitcase on the floor and immediately ran towards her to hug her. Everybody looked at them filled with lots of smiles on their faces. The enthusiasm of the reunion between a mother and a daughter msfe everyone including Lawrence and Vivian to forget the unsettled scores that they had with Ruth.

All this hapiness was ruined when Tere started clapping her hands as tears welled down her eyes. Even the walls of the house remained silent just to listen to her.

" I have done my part Ruth. Now it is time for you to do your part just like you promised me" said Tere smiling.

" No! My daughter is not going to do the ancestral spell. Stop lying to her Tere. You are more experienced than her and you know very well that such an ancestral spell would even lead to her death" said Naomi who entered the living room.

She was the only one who had not yet converged at the living room as she had not yet finished her prayers. That was when she had a vision of Ruth dying on the spot as she tried to do that ancestral spell.

" This is not about Ruth not going. A deal is a deal and it does not matter if the deal had to cause another person's death. Ruth must perform that spell for me. She must and will have to do it whether she likes it or not. My whole life depends on it" said Tere.

" I am sorry Tere. I would love to complete my part of the deal but not when my mother is against it .You have to make my mother accept me to perform that spell" said Ruth who held Purist's arm tightly.

" Fine! Why would you not allow her to perform the spell Aunt Naomi? " Asked Tere.

" Because that is the same thing which killed her grandfather many years ago. I cannot loose my daughter in such an easy manner. I cannot be left alone in this world. I wouldn't even be able to raise Purist" said Naomi in a pellucid voice.

" Why are you all like that?" Asked Tere as tears welled down her eyes.

Tere knew that by not performing the spell then she was going to loose everything. She would be thrown out of the closer gates and a rejection spell done on her. This would mean that she would suffer for the rest of her life.

" There is only one way out. The spell must be performed by three beautiful ladies. The one who broke the ancestral vase of flower, the one who is powerful enough to mend it and the one who believes that she can do it without a fear in her heart. Are you ready to do this Tere? Where are you going to  find the third party?" Asked Naomi.

" The third party is right here Aunt Naomi" said Tere pointing at Faith.

This made Faith to shook her head in disagreement. She grew up most part of her life far away from the closer gates which made her not to be experienced in oerforning spells.

" I won't do it Tere. I will not perform that spell with you" said Faith.

" Why not? I thought you have always wanted to know how to perform spells" said Tere who wiped her tears and began to smile.

" I have always wanted to know how perform spells but not in such kind of a way. I cannot really do it" said Faith.

" I will do it mama" said Purist as Ruth widened her eyes in disbelief.

" You? You are not going to do it"  said Ruth.

" Why not? Are we not of the same origin? Mama! I know the whole truth and I know the fact that people who live at the closer gates are witches. For how long will the truth always be hidden from them. Can't you see that the whole situation is really hurting me? It hurts me that my own mama cannot believe in me. Mama! Please understand that I am not like the rest of the people at the closer gates. I am Purist Bora from Bora mansion and I can do it. I can perform that spell" said Purist.

" Alright Purist. You will perform that spell under one condition. You will have to live with me as your mama and nobody else now that your marriage has been destroyed. You will go back to school and be the doctor that you have always wanted to be" said Ruth smiling.

" How can I not live with you mama? Of course mama. I will live with you and I will surely go back to school. Although my dreams are not to be a doctor anynmore, I will still work hard to get higher grades because I want to be a lawyer like you. I want to fight for the rights of the people especially young children who get married at the age sixteen. My legacy will be your legacy" said Purist smiling.

" Fine! It is now settled that Purist, Tere and I are going to perform that spell. Come Tere. We need to leave while holding arms together then separate our arms afterwards" said Ruth as the three of them left.

The rest of the family stood aghast for a while exveot for Faith and Naomi who left to their respectives room. They knew that they had numerous questions which were heard to answer. It was then that it truly dawned on Ryan that rumours about there being a witches in Olam town especially the closer gates was always true. The only thing that he had no idea about was that the witches were good witches whose purpose was to create good but not to harm anybody.

Purist, Tere and Ruth boardered a taxi to the closer gates in the same motion of holding hands together. As soon as they arrived at the closer gates, they dropped the money at the back seat of the car and left in the same motion of holding hands together.

They therefore entered the mansion and went straight to the point where the ancestral vase of flowers were lying on the ground. As soon as the arrived, Tere was astonished to find out that the ancestral vase of flowers had already been mended and returned to it's rightful position. This meant that no spell was going to be performed as the way they had planned.

" You have done well my abled daughter-in-law. Now you can successfully go back to your matrimonial room and be happy with the man you love. I am so proud of you" said Akeshia as she went towards Tere and hugged her.

" Mama! I am not the one...." Said Tere but Akeshia suddenly interrupted.

" Spare me your lies. Today you have proved to be the right woman who will take care of this household till my death. I am very proud of you my daughter-in-law. May you fulfill the desires of your heart" said Akeshia smiling who signalled to Tere to leave.

Tere immediately left to her matrimonial room in deep state of confusion. She could not stop wondering how the spell had been performed yet she had not yet arrived in order to perform it by the help of Purist and Ruth. She felt bad for leaving Ruth abd Purist with Akeshia but there was nothing she could do about it. She had to if she wanted to stay with Martin as husband and wife.

" I want you both to listen to me. You made your choices when you considered us as no longer part of your lives. I beg you both to leave without looking back. As you can see, we are happy without your presence" said Akeshia filled with lots of anger.

" But Aunt Ake...." Said Ruth but Akeshia suddenly interrupted.

" Elders don't repeat their statements twice" said Akeshia.

Purist and Ruth immediately left as they did not want a sudden curse to befall them if Akeshia repeated herself twice. Although they did not understand what had transpired that made the ancestral spell not to be performed, they knew that the mystery was set to unveil itself soon.

MARRIED AT SIXTEEN.
