CHAPTER 170

As soon as they arrived at Mambo town,  they went to the nearest boutique whereby Tere chose for Ruth the dress of her choice. Although Ruth seemed not to like the dress, she still bought the dress in order to make Tere happy.

Choosing for Ruth a dress did not take a long time. Ruth decided to wear the dress since she was already late to the engagement party and yet she did not want to dissapoint Ryan. 

They therefore left to the mansion and found out that everybody had already gathered there. There were traditional songs and lots of drumists who were perforning according to the likes and beliefs of Olam town. 

Ruth ensured that Tere and Martin had found somewhere to sit and were comfortable before she left to look for Ryan. She knew that Ryan might had been very dissapointed by then. Since Ryan was not anywhere around the engagemebt party, Ruth decided to search for him in his own room.

As soon as Ruth arrived at Ryan's room, she found Ryan seated on top of the bed crying and was being comforted by Faith and Nelly.

" Ryan! Ryan!" shouted Ruth as she went towards Ryan.

Ryan immediately stood and was astonished to find out that it was Ruth. He immediately went towards her and hugged her tightly in such a way that Ruth found it hard to breather but was trying to squeeze herself in order to get some fresh air.

" I thought that you had dumped me and decided to stay with Martin after the threats that Haggai had subjected you. I was just trying to consult myself with tears even though I knew that it is not good for a man to cry here at Mambo town. Thank you, thank you for keeping your promise and coming to the engagement party. It would have been a shame to me if you did not really come. I love you so much Ruth" said Ryan as he hugged Ruth more tightly.

" I love you too Ryan. You thought what? I am goung to pinch you in your nose right now. I can't believe that you thought I wouldn't even come. After all the troubles that we have gone through together? It would be so heartless of me" said Ruth as he pinched Ryan on the nose smiling. 

" You are so beautiful this evening. I love the dress abs everything in you right now" said Ryan as he pecked Ruth on her cheeks. 

" You are glowing too Ryan and I really love it. I love your pruple white suit. Oh my God! Please go to the party already before Faith and Nelly become jealous of us and want to stop this wedding. I will go to mama in her room. She will be the one to escort me to the engagement party and hand me over to you as per the traditions of Olam town" said Ruth smiling.

" Alright my Ruth. Please don't take long because I can't one more minute without seeing your beautiful face" said Ryan who left the room as Nelly and Faith followed him closely. 

Ruth immediately left the room too and went to Naomi rooms. She found her mother standing next to the window filled with lots of sadness. Ruth immediately went towards her and hugged her from behind. 

" Mama! You know I cannot be happy this day if you are not happy. Could you please turn around towards me and put a smile on your face? You are the only one who can escort to rhis engagement party. If you won't, theb I believe I wouldn't go since you don't approve Ryan as the love of my life" said Ruth a bit sad too.

Naomi immediately turned towards Ruth and hugged Ruth so tightly which shocked Ruth. Ruth had never seen Naomi as emotional like that before. It made Ruth to become emotional too since the blood ties were penetrating through their veins.

" How can I not approve Ryan as the love of your life? I am the one who planned about the engagement party without asking you about your opinion. I really thought you wre not going to come since you do not approve Magdalene as my choice of a man for you. Thank you my darling daughter for not dissapinting your Mami. You are my precious one. Let's go the engagement party. We can't afford to keep the curious party crashers for so long" said Naomi as she held Ruth's arm and left her room accompanied by Ruth.

Both Ruth and Naomi walked slowly till they arrived at the engagement party. As soon as they arrived, a light song was put for them as Ruth walked slowky as the bride to be towards Ryan accompanied by her mother Naomi. 

As soon as they arrived, Naomi handed over Ruth to Ryan smiling. 

" Please take good care of my daughter. Don't you ever make her cry because that is one thing I never did ever since she became mine. Yes I know I did use to punish her at times yet I did that to teach to become the woman that she is right now. As soon as you marry her, she will become your property as well. Make sure you never raise a hand at her because you can never be her mother. If that happens, I will not hesitate to take my daughter away from you" Naomi whispered to both Ruth and Ryan which made Ruth to smile. 

She had never hard Naomi speak like that before. This truly meant that Naomi was happy and would do anything to protect her especially from a man who dared to raise a hand at her. Naomi immediately left and went to sit on her reserved seat just like other guests. The only difference was that her sit had a tag written ' the guest of honour'.

 " My distinguished guests, my mom to be abd family good evening. I want to take this chance to appreciate all of you for attending my engagement party. Only my heart can understand how much I have waited for this day and how much I an happy to have such kind of a woman in my arms. I am so lucky as a man to be joined with such kind of a family. So, today I want to take this chance to put a ring on my wife's finger bit before I do that, I will welcome my mom to be and sister who has always been like a mother to me to give their last words before we officially become a couple" said Ryan as he held Ruth's arm and led her to sit at the site which were reserved for them.

" Good evening everyone. My name is Nelly and I am Ryan's younger sister. Actually, I know that I am not the one supposed to speak here right now according to the traditions of the land but yet I will speak since I truly have a lot to say. Ever since I was a little girl, Ryan and I watched each other grow both physically and emotionally and it was after our parent's death when we believed we both had only each other but things changed when  Ruth came into our life. My brother's love for her overcame everything. She changed this entire house abd even made us do things that we did not use to do before. She taught me how to write be a good woman by teaching me that cooking in the kitchen were good values of a woman. You know what? I have a lot of ways in which I wsnt to describe Ruth but I really feel that this is not the right time to speak my heart out. So let me give this chance to our mama Naomi to say her speech" said Nelly as she went back to her sit.

Naomi immediately stood and waved at everyone. She did not really want to say anything since she was indeed overexcited. She had the right to be. She had waited for so long for her Ruth to get married who decided to put her career as a lawyer as her first priority. 

" I am just happy for the engagement, thank you" said Naomi who immediately sat back on her reserved chair. 

Ryan stood at that instant and demanded for his ring to be brought to him which was on pocession of Faith who was seated beside Akeshia. Faith immediately stood and went towards them to hand over the rings to them. It was then that Ryan realized that one if the rings were broken. According to him, it was a sign of bad omen. It meant that even if they got married, there would still be some things and people which will separate them. 

Ryan immediately took the ring and put it on Ruth's finger as everybody clapped for them. Ruth decided to put the broken ring on Ryan's finger. 

' Bad omens were there and would always be. The only thing is what one believes in, whether bad omens brought negative or positive reports' Ruth thought as she looked at Ryan smiling.
