CHAPTER 214

Ruth and Naomi arrived at Magdalene's home after so many hours since the house was a bit far away from home. They highlighted the taxi and therefore put their luggages inside the house. They then decided to go to Magdalene's grave but they were saddened that they had forgotten to carry flowers along with them that they would give to her. 

" Mama! Where are you? Your daughter and I need you and we need to hear the many secrets you've always hidden from us like Evelyn. Did you Akeshia's mother was your best friend yet you never bothered to tell us? How do I even call myself your daughter mama? What should I do? We have been interested in the closet gates but losing closer gates will make us loose our respect mama. Why can't you come back just like your dead friend?" Shouted Naomi who was standing beside Magdalene's grave a bit astonished by everything that Naomi was saying.

" Mama ...you...." Said Ruth but Naomi suddenly interrupted.

" What should you say Ruth? Can't you see that our lives are complicated? We've never lived in peace because everyday there are people who want to make sure that we fall and never rise. What about my daughter? She knows how to do nothing than care alot for people whom even does not know and have not seen before" shouted Naomi.

" But none of us chose to be family mama. I didn't choose you to be my mama yet you carried me in your womb nine months. If I am like this, it's because maybe you were like this when you were my age. I just got everything from you because you are my mother. And why are we even saying this things to each other? The two of us are the only people left of our family mama" said Ruth in a pellucid voice.

" Shut up! Don't pretend to be too wise than your own mother because I know that you can never be" shouted Naomi at Ruth. 

" Yes! That is all you care about mama. That I am too wise. When have you ever made a decision about my life? You should have done that along time ago by not allowing me to get married to Martin at the age of sixteen. That was when I came to know that I lived for other people and not for me" shouted Ruth at Naomi.

" It was your father's decision but not mine. You are the one who agreed to it so that that you had made that decision by yourself. What did you expect me to do then?" Asked Naomi.

" Escape with me and my siblings. I agree that Papa was a dictator but you had the right to protect me as your daughter and my siblings as your children. That is why in our lives we shouldn't choose who is right and who is wrong mama" shouted Ruth at Naomi.

That moment of tension continued beside Magdalene's grave till they suddenly saw alot of sand gathering together in Magdalene's grave. It really seemed that Magdalene's spirit was filled with lots of anger.

" Enough! Why don't you kill each other then and join me in my grave? " Shouted Magdalene's spirit which suddenly appeared and disappeared.

Naomi and Ruth stood for a while looking at each other each feeling regretful to what they had said to one another. 

" Mama! I am sorry........." Said Ruth in a pellucid voice but Naomi suddenly interrupted.

" I need sometime alone please" said Naomi who left. 

Ruth decided not to folllow Naomi. She knew that Naomi needed sometime to rest and think things over. Ruth made the decision to prepare some meal for both her and Naomi. 

Ryan on the other hand was trying to recover fully. He knew that that was the only way to remove Vivian and Lawrence from power and save her sister Nelly from their wrath. He wasn't sure that Ruth was ever going to come back to Mambo town like she had promised. 

This left him a little bit depressed since he had loved Ruth unconditionally. The only thing that Ryan did in her depression state was to sit on the four corners of the wall and crying. This made Nelly to sneak from the house and Mambo town to in order to go to Olam town to search for Ruth. The only thing she knew was that Ruth could be at the closer gates but yet she wasn't sure. She just needed to find out by herself. On her arrival at the closer gates, Nelly was astonished to find out that there were so many guards she had to deal with in order to enter the closer gates.

Nelly decided to approach one of them but had no idea if the bodyguard was going to help her. 

" Ex.....excuse me sir. Can I get inside the closer gates? I need to have a conversation with my friend Ruth" said Nelly to one of the bodyguards.

" You want to have a conversation with Ruth my love? Well I guess that you are too late unless you have an idea of where he grandmother's house is. Ruth left the closer gates a while ago accompanied by her mother with all her luggages.

" Who is here at the closer gates then? Can I have a conversation with him or her?" Asked Nelly a little bit tensed. 

" Martin and her step sister Nelly. Their mother Akeshia, grandmother Evelyn and Martin's daughter Purist. Those are the only people who have been left here at the closer gates" said the guard who kept making advances at Nelly who out of frustuation slapped the guard which made the guard to be filled with lots of anger.

" How dare you slap me? Do you know who I am? Do you even know where I come from? I am going to teach you a lesson before you even find your darling Ruth. What's with her anyway? How can you be looking for a looser such as her and her mother" asked the guard.

" You are the only looser here because you have no idea of what you are speaking about. You don't know who Ruth is. People who know Ruth better can never speak I'll of her. They will do so by seeing the goodness in her heart. Infact, I already remember where she told me once her grandmother lives. Let me leave immediately instead of standing here being made advances go by someone like you ejo knows nothing than to guard people at their houses. I wish you were a bitch enough to search for a more paying job than this if you really wanted to be making advances at ladies like me who are too expensive" shouted Nelly at the guard while she laughed annoyingly. 

The guard looked at Nelly filled with lots of anger who had already boarded a taxi. She ordered the taxi driver to take her to Magdalene's hours which was a few hours away. 

As soon as she arrived, she knocked on the door but was astonished to find out that no one was answering. She had no idea that she had come at the wrong time. Ruth was busy preparing good on the kitchen and couldn't here the house door bell ring as she had kept a loud music at the kitchen whereas Naomi on the other hand was in her room. She had kept thinking a lot till she finally fell asleep. 

Nelly decided to open the gate by herself. She was lucky that Ruth and Naomi had forgotten to lock the gate when they came in. She therefore locked the gate as soon as she entered and went towards the house door but before she could arrive, she noticed there was a house at the backyard as she looked around the house which seemed like a graveyard house. On top of it was written Magdalene's name. 

Nelly decided to go and pay her respects to Magdalene. She had also grew fond of Magdalene and loved Magdalene unconditionally. 

That was when Ruth saw her as she was perling the vegetables in the kitchen. She decided to go there to find out what Nelly was doing there. 

" Grandma Magdalene! I am really sorry by the fact that my own blood brother is the one who had planned for your death. How could he do this? He knew nothing about you at all? You didn't deserve to doe like this grandma and I understand that you do not want to see my face right now because of what brother has done to you" said Nelly as tears welled down her eyes.

" She's not angry at you Nelly. She's only angry at Ryan and the only thing she wants in her peaceful grave is justice for her death. So don't be so pale because of that" said Ruth as soon as she arrived at Magdalene's grave.

Nelly did not bother to utter any other word. She immediately ran towards Ruth and hugged her.
