CHAPTER 227
" This is not the right time to speak about what the doctor has done or has not done. We should be thinking about how we are going to take Nelly home " said Ruth in a commanding voice who left the ward.
Ruth knew that she needed help and the only person who was in a position to help her was none other than Ryan but Ryan who was already angry with her after Ruth had told her that she needed to go and tried to end the relationship with him.
Ruth had no idea of what she was going to do. Everybody at that instant was waiting for her next lead. Ruth decided to go to the hospital waiting room and sat there for a while wondering what she was going to do. She felt she was at her wits end. Martin on the other hand had formed the habit of siding with Evelyn and Akeshia. There was no way that he was going to help her.
Ruth therefore made a decision to go to the doctor's office with another plan in mind. As soon as she arrived at the doctor's office, she found him seated on his office chair swinging on his chair.
" Doctor! I am here to speak with you" said Ruth as she went and sat on the guest chair.
" What else do you want to speak to me about? Can't you see that I am tired of you witches coming to my office now and then?" Said the doctor who seemed exhausted.
" You have not been exhausted yet. A big challenge is coming your way. Your response will determine what is gonna happen to you. You wanted to send a doctor and two nurses, right?" Asked Ruth smiling at the doctor.
" What about that? I thought you said that you no longer want my help. Do you know that I have already asked the doctors and nurses to go back home?" Asked the doctor.
" Yes but then you are here and there are so many nurses working in your hospital. Oh! I had forgotten for a while that this is governmental hospital. I am afraid that this maybe your last day here doctor because you are coming with us. I have choosen up to be private doctor. Very soon you will receive emails of acceptance to my plea telling you to quit your doctorate career and follow me to my house to take care of my younger sister Nelly" said Ruth smiling who finally folded her arms and decided to look at the doctor's dissapoinred face.
" How dare you do this to me Ruth? Did you even ask for my opinion before making such a decision? I might be a governmental doctor which means I am a doctor for everyone. In other terms, I am a public doctor but at least I could have made that decision. Is it not too much for me? Why are you doing this to me despite me apologizing and telling you that I regret what I have done to your mother. Is it too hard to forgive?" Asked the doctor who stood from his office chair and went towards the window.
This made Ruth to feel a little bit sad. She hadn't plan to hurt anyone so far but she promised herself that she would whenever she felt that her family or a member of her family was hurt by someone.
" It's not too hard to forgive doctor but it's too hard to forget. I don't even understand you. Why do you even insist that you need to see your family? Don't you see them everyday when you get back home?" Ruth asked the doctor a bit curious.
" That's simply because I am not from this town. I am from town one and the leader of my town leader is none other than Mr. One. As one of Town one greatest lawyers, I am only allowed to see my daughter twice a week and by that, my daughter and the mother of my daughters are the ones who usually comes to visit me " said the doctor.
Ruth nodded her head in disbelief. She had known the fact that the doctor had hurt her so much by locking her mother in the washroom but yet had no idea that the doctor was suffering from his own problems as well.
" Look here doctor of town one. I am not an inhuman person but at this point you are the only one I trust to take care of my sister. Won't you at least try and understand me?" Asked the doctor.
" I understand you deeply well doctor Wilson. What about my sister? How about we play a game?" Asked Ruth.
" As long as it not a game of death then I will take part in playing it" said the doctor.
" Fulfill the desires of my heart and in return,I will fulfill the desires of my heart " said Ruth smiling.
" What do you mean by that Madam?" Asked the doctor a bit surprised by Ruth statement. The doctor immediately sat upright inorder to prepare to listen to what Ruth had to say.
" Come with me to my house to take care of my sister and hire two nurses from your hospital. Protect my sister when I am not there and ensure that no harm befalls her then I will unite you with your family. I will make sure that you do not see them twice a month but everyday of your life when you get back home. Do we have a deal?" Asked Ruth as she raised her arm toeards the doctor.
The doctor looked at Ruth's hand and shook his head. He could see the sincerity of what Ruth was saying in her eyes by was scared of the consequences. Mr. One was not a person to deal with. After loosing his mistress Akeshia and daughter Faith, hd becsme wild. He killed without Mercy and even gave worse verdicts with no regrets and that is what happened to the doctor. He had an operation to perform but Mr. One was very sick and wanted to be treated. He sent for this humble doctor to go and treat him but the doctor was already in the operation room performing a surgery. If he could leave at that time that Mr. One had called for, then the patient would have died.
The doctor decided to perform the surgery and left afterwards tp go and treat Mr. One who refused tobe treated by him anymore. Mr. One instead made a verdict that he should be considered as an outcast and only allowed to see his family twice in a month.
That became the worst day of his life. When the town One soldiers threw him out of his own homeland and refused got his wife and daughter to live with him. He was traumatized by the whole situation. He wept for so many days but as soon as he realized that all his tears were for no reason, he came to Olam town and decided to search for work as a public doctor. This was why he was worried alot by the fact that Ruth might not fulfill her promise. Yet he felt that he should give her a benefit of doubt.
" I accept to play your game Ruth. I will do my part and expect you not to fail in your part. You must play this game to the end" said the doctor.
" I will play this game to the end as long as you help me take my sister home and start treating her from home. It will make me more than happy doctor" said Ruth as she suddenly shook hands with the doctor.
" Well then. Let me do the preparations for taking her home and finding two professional nurses who will help me treat her" said the doctor smiling.
" Thank you so much doctor. Let me go and inform my family" said Ruth who suddenly left to Nelly's ward.
Ruth was as happy as a lark that Nelly was finally going to get well soon and the only option that she had really worked. It indeed really worked.
As soon as she arrived at Nelly's war, Ruth found that everybody was dull and knew that this was not good for Nelly.
" Come on people. Start preparing yourself because we are leaving for home including Nelly. I gave found a professional doctor who is already calling an ambulance. The ambulance will arrive in a short while. We are finally going to take my Nelly hone. It is better for her to be treated at home rather than this hospital which is way too dangerous " said Ruth smiling.
Purist immediately ran towards her and embraced her. She was indeed tired of staying in the hospital and hated the hospital so much. This was because each time she was in the hospital, she always remebered the fact that it was where her relationship with Ruth broke, when she was forced to believe that Ruth had poisoned her and chose Tere over Ruth.
