Chapter 80

We were all at the cafeteria at the time. We took a seat at a table in the cafeteria's corner. "Don't forget," Josh murmured softly, "there's going to be a match today."

"Don't tell me you forgot something," Jack added. "No one will forget tonight's match," Lora guaranteed. "Will you just finish your meal and then talk?" I interjected myself into their conversation.

Everyone came out laughing. "Yo, seriously, when did you start using proper eating etiquette?" Lydia enquired. "I'm astonished as well," Elizabeth remarked, laughing.

"It doesn’t mean when I started practicing eating manners, you guys should just stop talking and let me eat in peace," I bemoaned. "I think you'll have to excuse us from the table," Josh remarked.

Ellie said, "You guys should calm down." Okay, we've de-escalated "I continued to eat my lunch while they resumed their conversation. " "From what I've heard, the school we're playing against is pretty good," Jack confessed. Lora added, "I also heard they haven't lost any of their last ten bouts."

I rose from my seat and began walking out of the café. I was walking down the hallway, headed back to the classroom, when I heard a female voice calling my name from behind me.

I turned slowly to see who it was. It turned out to be a pretty girl I don’t think I've spoken with before. She was almost my height and had red hair.

I was almost carried away with her beauty before I was lucky to come back to my senses and asked, "Who are you please?"

"I know you don’t know me," she replied, and turned to walk away. "You will know me soon though," she added.

I was lost, wondering why someone that I didn’t know would call me to tell me that I would know her soon. Isn’t that ridiculous? I turned to keep walking to my classroom and bumped into the school team coach.

"Hey Adam," he said, calling me.

I stopped replying, "Hey coach,"

"Come with me to my office," he said, heading to his office. I followed him from behind to his office.

When we got to his office, he told me to take a seat, which I did. I was wondering what he had to tell me. He dropped a book he was holding in his hand on the table, and sat down at the edge of the table.

"Would you like to join the school team back?" he asked softly, "Don’t worry, I’m going to understand if you don’t want to join, but know that the school team will always welcome you back anytime," he added.

I didn’t know how to reply to all that he had said. "I will give you my reply later in the day coach," I said softly, standing up from the seat. I’m sure he understood how I felt.

"Okay, no problem. I will be waiting for your answer," he replied.

"Okay coach," I said, heading towards the entrance. I stretched my right hand to the doorknob to open the door. I walked out of the office, closing the door from behind.
