I walked into the training ground, heading towards the coach. I was in my school team track suit, with a bag across my chest that contained my boots, towel and so on.
But it feels great to be back on the team. I came to a halt in front of the coach, who jokingly said, "Look who is here," and the other teammates stopped what they were doing and stared at me.
I said softly, "I'm here to give you an answer to the question you asked, and I assumed you already know what the answer is."
"Yes, I think I do. You’re welcome to the team once again, Adam," he replied.
He extended his right hand towards me for a handshake. I also extended my hand to receive the handshake, smiling. I was happy to be back in the team after overcoming what happened in the past, and the team had also forgiven me, so now they wanted me back because they believed in me.
"I’m happy to be back," I said calmly.
"We are also happy to have you back," a guy said from behind.
I separated our hands. I turned to face him. The team members had surrounded me already.
"Reunite with the team," the coach said, placing his hand on my shoulder and moving closer.
I turned to look at him and smiled softly, which he reciprocated. I faced forward and walked slowly to them, shaking them one after the other. "Nice to have you back," most of them said, to which I replied, "Thanks." I also had to give some a hug.
Lastly, I got to Josh. He was the captain of the team. He was banded with the captain's band after I left the team. He had a big smile on his face. He also looked surprised to see me join the team without telling him about my return.
We extended our hands at each other for a handshake and dragged each other closer to hugging. We gave each other a tight hug, placing a hand on each other’s back.
He was really happy that I was back on the team. "I’m glad you are back in the team," he said, while we separated from the tight hug.
I replied, "I'm also glad I was welcomed back into the team."
"Guys, don’t you think we should welcome back Adam to the team?" he yelled.
"Sure," they replied, together.
"Yeah, I think he deserves a party," Stephen said softly.
"So tonight, we would get on that pitch and make Adam proud by winning," he yelled.
"Yo boys, like get back to training," yelled the coach, "so we can round up and rest against them tonight."
They all dismissed themselves and went back to their training while I walked to a branch and dropped my bag. I took a seat beside it, then opened the bag to get my soccer boots out of it.
"Adam!" exclaimed the coach.
"Yes," I replied, shouting,
"Get your boots on fast, and get over here so you can join the training,"
Okay, I’m on my way, "I replied. So
I had to speed up to get my boots on so I could attend the training.
