Chapter 34

"Hello mum. You finally remembered your only daughter after almost a year" Bella said

"It is not as though I forgot you. I've just been busy lately"

"Of course. How is things going with Felix" Bella said addressing her man friend. They had been together for a good number years. A 'no marriage plans' relationship. Felix took most of her time. She rarely called to even check on Bella and Javier. But Bella was happy though, she was happy that her mother had finally found love after all this year's of loneliness.  Anne felt more fulfilled and happy with Felix and Bella had to be happy for her.

"Felix is doing great"

"I have been trying to reach Javier for over 2 days now and he is not responding so I was worried"

"He probably must have been busy with work or whetever he does. Javier rarely has time for himself. So am not surprised."

"Yes I know he is busy at the firm but he never rejects my call when I call and it gave me cause to worry"

"That's because you hardly calls and when you call, it's always once in a while so we tend to Cherish the moment"

"Oh don't sound like I am a bad person"

"I'm not saying that. I just wish you could show more concern"

"I am trying Bella, don't you see"

"There you go again" Bella said rolling her eyes.

"Do you want me to come over?" Anne asked.

"No I don't want you to" Bella said.

 It would be a really bad idea if her mother should show up with all this that was happening. Bella needed her to stay as far as possible. The Cartels were almost everywhere and her mother being here would be the worst decision ever made. She would never forgive herself if anything happens to her.

"I still can't figure out why you and Javier are always against me coming over to Chicago" she asked 

"anyways, help me check on Javier and tell him to call me as soon as possible"

"Ok Mum" Bella slurred like a high school girl who was being scolded into doing what she didn't want to do by her mum.

"I will call him immediately we get off from this call"

"Ok"

"Bye Mum"

Bella held the phone in front of her trying to locate Javier's phone number. She placed the phone on ear after dialing Javier's number, swaying her hair to the other side trying to get rid of the excess hair that was in the way. Javier answered on the 6th ring

"Hello" Javier slurred

"Javier, mum has been trying to reach you for over 2 days and you weren't picking up. she says to confirm if you are still alive" Bella said playfully. There was Dead Silence at the other end for over 30 seconds.

"Javier?" she called out in order to get his attention.

"Yes I'm still here, languishing in my worthless life" he slurred

"What has come over you?" Bella couldn't help but chuckle.

"A lot"

"Javier are you drunk?. You know what, give the phone to Hattie. I'll pass the message on to her. She would deliver it to you when you are much sober".

"The only person that i can pass the phone to, is myself" he sighed 

"She left" he added

"Who left?" Bella asked  still unsure of what she had heard

"I didn't mean to cause her so much pain. I thought I was helping her. Westin was not good for her. He was the monster, not me"

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"You are right, she had an effect on me but I was too blind to see it. She should have just ignored and we would have moved on like it was nothing"

"Javier i think the alcohol is starting to have an effect on you and your reasoning. You know what, I will call her and talk to her myself, you are really confusing me"

"I messed up...." Javier tried saying but Bella had already end the call.

Whatever he was saying made Bella confused and she asking him what the problem was, would lead to a more confusing reply. Calling Hattie would be better than speaking to a drunk Javier. she searched for Hattie's number and dialed . The first call wasn't returned so Bella had to call her again and this time she picked on the second ring.

"Hello" the words came out of Hattie's mouth  from the other end. It sounded less vibrant. Unlike Hattie who was the opposite of that.

"I tried calling Javier but he is drunk as fuck, can you help me deliver this message to him when he is more sober?"

 "I'm no longer at Javier's house, I'm at my house"

"For good?:

"Yes I am done with this  lashedta and hyrans nonsense. You guys have already cost a lot to me and I want my former life back"

"What are you talking about?" Bella ask still unsure if she had heard Hattie properly. How did she know about the lashedtas and the hyrans. That was top secret so how the hell did Hattie know about it. Or else of course if Javier had told her.

"There is no need to put up that act, Bella. I know what you are and what you people did to my mother"

"Javier told you?"

"He told me everything. He actually told me more than enough, I never knew I was living with a beast itself. That's how you all are and I want to cut off ties with all of you, hopefully my life can get back to being normal. If I could get Fay out of that witch's hand, you and Javier would never set eyes on me again"

"Hattie what do......" it was too late the call had  already ended. Bella stood transfixed at a point with astonishment. What was Hattie talking about.  She hated Javier  because he was a lashedta? or there was more to this than what she thought. Being lashedta was enough for Hattie to leave him. Bella knew that there was more to what Hattie had said. Come to think of it, Javier told Hattie about being a lashedta. What wae he thinking?. Bringing a human into the underworld matter was a no do affair.

"You guys are no longer together?" Daphne asked in astonishment

"We were never together, I was just staying at his house for protection that's all"

"What exactly happened" Daphne asked ignoring the statement made by  Hattie.

"It's Complicated"

"Get ready to break it down for me"

"I just don't want to talk about it"

"Is it that bad?"

"He is a bloody psychopath"

"Well that was harsh, you will regret what you said when you get back with him"

"No, that can never happen I will just try to move past what he did to me. He has taking a lot from me already and I wished I had found out soon enough"

"Are you seriously going to keep me in the dark and prevent me from knowing all of this?"

"It's just not easy to say"

"So you are done with him, for good?"

"Yes I am" Hattie breathed out shakily.

"You look so malnourished and pale, I wonder how you must be feeling. Have you been eating lately?" Daphne couldn't help but ask at how she was looking so unhealthy. Her eyes appeared too large for her face, her cheekbones were too defined, her face looked smaller, giving off a cancerous look.

"hardly, It's a struggle to even swallow up the food in the first place"

"Are you in I love you with him?"

"I was" Hattie corrected. 

"And I still do but sadly he doesn't have a heart to love"

"I'm so sorry for what you might be feeling right now"

"Did you find Fay?" Daphne asked

"Fay was kidnapped"

"What the.." Daphne exclaimed in astonishment.

"And you didn't deem it fit to tell me?" Daphne's asked, still shook by the news

"I was just as surprised as you when I heard about it. I was going to tell you but a lot has been on my mind lately"

 'And I just found out, Fay is my fucking sister'  Hattie added inwardly

"How do we go about it, let's call the police and inform them"

"The police won't do anything about it they won't be able to find Fay"

"I know you find the police incompetence after the way they abandoned your mother's case but we can't just leave that poor girl in the hands of a kidnapper. Did they demand for a ransom and how much is it?"

"No, they did not demand for a ransom. this whole thing is so complicated, how do I explain this to you?. You don't have to worry about it though I have something up my sleeve that might help to get Fay out"

The only plan she had was to consult Stephanie into getting Fay out in an exchange for the pendant. She couldn't bear the thought of Fay being in pain so she knew she had to do something.

"Hattie are you nuts?. so you are telling me that you're not going to inform the police about a clear case of kidnap?. What if she is already dead by the time we find her and what do you think we can do if we eventually find her?. Am not that tough to fight off the culprits"

"Calm down Daphne I should be the one being all tensed up. I just need to clear my head and think straight for a moment"

"What do you suppose we do then?"

"Just leave it to me I will try my best in getting Fay out, even if I die trying" Hattie said and she noticed how Daphne was shook by the statement she made. Daphne knew that Hattie was never the 'touchy feeling' type. So her saying this, it meant that Fay meant a lot to her 

"So you are telling me that the kidnappers never asked for a ransom, so what the hell do they bloody want?"

"I don't know" Hattie lied

"You look so tensed up I feel for you, you really need to calm down and take things slowly" Daphne consoled

"Do I look that bad?" She asked. she wanted to make sure if Javier had a great effect on her that it even affected her outer look

"You look sick Hattie. And you are most definitely not your well cheerful and bubbly self. That good for nothing Javier has to be taught a lesson for making you like this"

"I will cope" hattie said giving up a reassuring smile.

"Do you want to go out for a while. Just to get some fresh air and breathe?"

"I would love that. That would be a perfect way to set my mind off The troubles and the thinking that I have been doing lately"

"Alright get dressed, let's go"

"I can go like this" she said, addressing her baggy jeans along side her crumpled t-shirt

"No, you cannot put that on. I still can't figure out what the hell Javier did to you. What happened to the elegant, joyful and bubbly Hattie, the girl that was always all over the place. what happened to her?"

"She's still in here somewhere, but she has been scared" hattie replied and it was hundred percent true. Javier made her retaliate from the fun of life she was no longer the same way she was. Everything just felt like it was in black and white. Life no longer felt fun to her. It felt boring and useless without Javier but she knew that deep down she would never ever date him. He was a murderer and is capable of doing many things that she had little knowledge of.

"Hattie is no longer with Javier" Andrew smirked

"So fast I didn't even believe she would actually believe what you will ever say to her"

"There's no way she wouldn't believe after seeing the proof. She is already out of Javier's house out of devastation, so we can get her"

"Wow you went that far?"

"Yes I did and the moment I lay my eyes on her I will make her pay for the trouble that she had cost me"

"Take it easy"

"Has Lagatha found the pendant yet?" Lawson asked

 "No she has not"

"And the girl?"

"Fay?"

 "yes that one, is she still alive?"

"I don't know, the last time I saw her, she was in pretty bad shape"

 "Speaking of that, why did you murder that girl?"

"Rita?" Andrew snapped. He already knew what he was talking about, the moment the question was asked.

"I don't know her name just answer my question"

"She felt so annoyed to me, that's why I did it"

"Do you realise how absurd that sound? you killed somebody because the person sounded annoying to you?"

"It could be fun sometimes"

"Killing people is fun to you?:

"Oh please, don't make me sound like a bad person you certainly have done worse"

"I have killed but not for unreasonable reasons like the one you just gave me right now. you can't just go around, killing people because you can, that's abuse of power"

"And you can't tell me what to do. I am your elder brother remember?"

"Then act like it and quit acting like a lunatic"

"I could slit your throat right now and there is nothing no one can do about it, including mother"

"Trust me Andrew you can't. You know what, let's just drop this discussion. The more we talk about it, the more angry I get"

"You're the one that brought it up anyways I don't know why you enjoy prying into my private life"

"Your private life is messed up big time"

"It's still fun in a way though"

"How do we get Hattie?" Lawson  asked in a bid to change the topic that was already annoying.

"Simple I'll go to her  house and adopt her. Javier isn't going to be there to protect her anymore so she is as fragile as glass. This is the right time to get her before they think of coming back together"

"You think they will come back together after the discovery that hattie just found about?"

"There is a probability but who knows, I just want to get her before that happens and hopefully kill her and kill Javier too"

"When do we start I personally want to make her pay for what her mother did to us" Lawson said

"You were here preaching about me killing and you knew you could be worse" Andrew smirked at Lawson. Reaching his hands to the table and grabbing the glass of drink that stood there

"I kill when it is necessary"

"Give me a day and Hattie would be in my hands" Andrew said taking a sip from the drink in his hands with a smile on his face
