Chapter 17

She held the door knob and was about twisting it when she heard a slight whisper from behind 

"Help me"

Hattie turned around as she looked at Fay who was still laying on the bed. Fay looked kind of confused as she blinked rapidly trying to make out where she was. Hattie rushed towards her.

" Fay  you are awake, oh thank God you are awake"

"What....what..

am I doing here" Fay stammered 

"Fay you were found unconscious in the restaurant and was brought here, do you perhaps remember what happened last night?" 

Fay groaned in pain as she tried to get up from the hospital bed but Hattie stopped her, she was still too weak to get up after being unconscious.

"Don't try to get up, you are still very badly injured" 

"I can barely even talk" Fay replied with a raspy voice.

"I know you are still too weak but I need to ask you some questions"

"Like what?"

"Like what happened in the restaurant and how you became unconscious"

The memories of last night came flooding into Fay's head. She remembered everything that happened in details. She had been so scared, she even thought she was going to die. The intruder that came in there was bound on killing her. She was quite surprised that she even survived it at all.

"I can barely give enough information, the restaurant was too dark for me to see anything and this person was too fast" 

"The person that attacked you?"

"Yes he was very strong and also very fast, he was no match for me. No matter how hard I tried to fight him off, he always had the upper hand.

Now Hattie was sure that the person that attacked Fay was very similar to the person that attacked her.

"Do you remember me?"

"Kind of, but hardly"

"I came to your restaurant one day and we had a little chat. I asked for your name and I also told you mine. I'm Hattie by the way and I am a doctor here. 

"Oh I remember you now" Fay said with realization.

"I'm glad you do. Now let's talk about what happened, the person that attacked you, did the person feel human to you or rather Supernatural" 

Hattie always had a feeling that the person that attacked her wasn't a human at all but she did not know how crazy it would sound if she told Javier and Bella that. She wanted to be sure if fay experienced the same thing or it was just her. But her Instincts were never wrong in this kind of things. She just needed to hear another person's opinion before jumping into conclusion. 

"You kind of have a point about the person that attacked me, I don't think it was a human at all because he could clearly see very well in the dark and I was really struggling to make out who he was" 

"And?"

"With the way coldness surrounded me anytime he came close and how strong he was, I don't think he was a human at all"

Now Hattie surely knew she wasn't going crazy after all. That was definitely the logical explanation for all of this. All her life she never believed in Supernatural beings but now she was starting to believe, after everything that had happened.

" did you perhaps recognise any detail from this person?" 

"No I already told you the restaurant was too dark for me to even see anything"

"Like, did you recognise anything from him like his scent or perhaps the way his body felt. Was it masculine or just plain?"

"Are you a doctor or a detective?" Fay signed 

"I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions but the same thing happened to me and I wanted to be sure if the case was quite similar and it really looks similar to me"

"I have already told you what I know. Right now, I can't seem to stop the ache in my head, It feels like a mouse is feasting on my brain"

"I know you feel terrible, I also felt the same way, I hope you get well soon. I will be coming back to check on you later"

"Thanks a lot for your help, at least I know that someone cares after all" Fay said 

"It's ok, just remember that I will always be there when you need me. You are still too young to be experiencing all this anyway"

"Thanks a lot doctor Hattie" Fay said with a weak smile printed on her cheek.

"You are always more than welcome. The police would be here very soon, please ensure you give them every detail of this information so they could be able to catch the culprit"

"I bet they wouldn't be able to catch the person that attacked me. I'm sure that even five policemen will be no match for him" Fay said and Hattie couldn't help but agree more. She was still baffled on how Javier managed to fight the person that attacked her and safe her. Oh and speaking of Javier she hadn't seen him since today. She would call him later on today.

"I'm afraid you are right. What scares me is that that person might never be caught"

"I doubt"

"It's okay just try resting, I'll inform the doctor about your consciousness on my way out. I am so happy that you are awake"

"I am happy too, I thought I was going to die. Who brought me here?"

"Your boss did"

" oh " Fay said wit realization

"I will be going now" Hattie said as she walked towards the door, she paused as she turned to look at Fay "I'll be back to check on you later " she said and Fay nodded.

Hattie walked out of the ward as she made her way to doctor Martin's office which was not too far from the ward. She knocked twice on his door and walked in without waiting for a response. Doctor Martin's Who was sitting behind his desk looked up to Hattie who was now in his office

"Your patient is awake" she blurted out.

"Really? He stood up quickly as he grabbed the stethoscope on the table and wrapped it around his neck. He walked past Hattie and headed to the ward. He turned to look at Hattie.

"How long has she been awake?" 

"Not too long actually"

"OK" Dr Martins nodded as he exited the room with Hattie trailing from behind.

Hattie exited the hospital as she stood in middle of the road. She rummaged her back in search of a phone when she found it she brought it out and dialled Javier's number. She held the phone to our ears but he wasn't answering. She thought of going to his house to check on him and how he was doing. But she realised that that would  be too clingy, they weren't even dating.

Hattie knew if she goes back to Bella's house, she won't be able to come out again all because her life was in danger. She wanted to use this opportunity to explore once and for all. she decided that she would go to Daphne's house. She had not seen Daphne for over a week now it wouldn't hurt to go to her house. 

Hattie flagged down a cab.

"Mason Street" she said to the taxi drive as she proceeded in opening the car door. Her phone beeped in her bag. She opened her bag and brought it out. It was Bella. She groaned in frustration why was Javier and Bella so protective about her, she wasn't a kid anymore and she had every right to go where she wanted. If not for this mishap, she wouldn't have even been staying in Bella's house in the first place. She put the phone into her bag as she let it ring on. She kept her eyes on the road ignoring the constant vibration in her bag.

After about 15 minutes the cab pulled up in Mason Street. She came down from the cab and handed the taxi drive some change. She walked down the street, Daphne's house was not too far from where she was standing. She did not want to call Daphne she wanted it to be a surprise. She walked down the street with one bag in her right arm. She felt the vibration in her bag again she knew that Bella was calling. Her Instincts told her to pick the phone up but another part of her frowned against it. She was not a kid anyway.

 She walked down the street as she stopped at Daphne's house, she stretched her hands towards the doorbell as she pushed it continuously so as to get Daphne's attention. The door opened to Daphne standing with a messy hair and red eyes. She looked like she just woke up from sleep. Daphne rubbed her eyes with the back of her palm as she looked at hearty who was standing in front of her.

"Why did I have a feeling that you'll still be sleeping, lazy bones" Hattie said amidst laughter which made Daphne roll her eyes.

"I'm guessing you are much better that's why you have the energy to tease me"

"Of course if I didn't, who would" 

"Typical Hattie" Daphne smiled as she stepped back, giving way for Hattie to enter. Hattie walked in and sat on the sofa.

"So now that you are finally well, can you please explain to me what you were talking about. How were you involved in this accident?" Daphne asked pointing at Hattie. 

"Can you at least let me breathe fresh air before you start bombarding me with all these questions?"

"You do not realise how worried I was about you and who was this your friend you were speaking of and why were you at his house. I tried asking Peter if he knew any of your friend but he replied no."

"I told you, he was just a friend why the cause of the alarm."

"You don't just seem like the social type so I was quite confused when you told me you were in a friend's house"

"Well now you know" Hattie said folding and hands under her breast in a dramatic way.

"And for how long have you known this guy?"

"Long enough"

"Are you guys kind of like a thing?"

"Oh come on Daphne, if I was dating anybody, you would be the first person I will inform. Trust me, there is nothing going on between the both of us"

"Then why did you go there, rather than staying in your own house" Daphne asked 

"Daphne, I don't know how I would put this, to make it sound less worrisome but I think my life is in danger" 

"What do you mean by that?" Daphne asked with confusion written all over her face.

"I mean that somebody is after my life and I'm currently staying with his sister for safety"

"Whoa whoa whoa whoa, slow down. All this is so confusing. What do you mean by someone is after your life, who and what makes you think that"

"I was attacked when I was getting back from your salon and I tell you, it wasn't a good thing at all, I thought I was going to die"

"What do you mean, was it an armed robber they attacked you?"

"I wish it was even an armed robber. I won't be this scared but I tell you the person that attacked me wasn't even human"

"How do you mean?" 

"With the power the person possessed, he could definitely not be a normal human being" 

"Are you perhaps going crazy Hattie?"

"I know it might sound crazy but just yesterday, a girl was attacked and she had the same experience just like me and she also believed that the person wasn't human at all. It was all so confusing to me but after hearing her side of the story I concluded"

"So you are saying that your life is in danger and someone is after your life and the person isn't human? This is just so confusing" 

"It is to me too and I think Javier is huddling a lot of information from me and I'm going to find out all about it and put an end to this"

"If this person isn't a human being then how the hell are you going to put an end to it and how is Bella and Javier going to protect you from this person?"

"Javier claims that it's only him and his sister that can protect me"

"I don't know much but this Javier person sounds really strange"

"Yes and he is hiding a lot of things from me"

"Do you perhaps trust him?"

"He might act weird and strange sometimes, but a part of me believes he can protect me from this person"

"Wow this is huge and who was the girl that was attacked again?"

"An employee that works in a restaurant just opposite the hospital that I work:

"And you believe this person that attacked her was the same person that attacked you?"

"Definitely"

"Did the girl see who attacked her?"

"No, she said it was too dark to make out anything" 

"And did you perhaps see anything?" 

"No, but I felt a presence"

"Are you sure this is not all in your imagination, it could be the after effect of a totally different accident"

"Come on you are not funny. You know I won't just make up such things if I'm not sure of it. I am hundred percent sure that I was attacked"

"But why is this person after you?"

"That is the question I keep asking myself. Why is this person unto me when there are thousands of people living in this world? My life has always been so messed up her" she said shakily 

"Don't worry everything will be fine" 

"But for how long will I continue to live in fear?"

"If Javier said he's able to protect you then I guess you should trust him, and where did you say you met him again?"

"He came to my office for counseling and we were about becoming a thing when he suddenly called everything off. It's really broke my heart, I was already moving on when I bumped into him again"

"And why didn't you tell me all this?"

"You never asked and I always felt that, not talking about some certain things would make you forget it easily and that is what I did but it was Barely working anyway" 

"You would have at least told me. So you are currently staying at his sister's house?"

"Apparently, I have no choice but to stay there For my safety"

"Well if that's what you want, I can't stop you But try and be careful, Even coming here is quite dangerous, I wouldn't want you to be hurt"

"I know I was just going to visit Fay at the hospital for a while so I decided to stop by and see how you are doing and also for you not to worry much"
