Chapter 49

"Can't we just send him over" Javier sighed, turning to Anne who sat on a couch opposite where he was standing.

"I already told You, I want the two of you to get along, so picking him up won't hurt a bit" Anne said smillin g sheepishly at Javier who scrowled at her

"I don't like this idea. I should be at work now" Javier said scrowiling at her

"We both know that you weren't planing on going to the office today so, why the stress?"

"Whatever you say" Javier said im defeat. He really hated the idea of bringing felix over. He was a grown man and Javier didn't see the need for their bonding. He was dating his mother not him so why should he have to worry about it. He just had a realm visit. He should really be finding a way to calm his nerves down rather than going after his mother's boyfriend

"You are all set, I think you should be going now" Anne said with the smile not leaving her face.

"Of course" Javier said sarcastically, shaking his head in a manner to show that he was being forced to do this. The thought of being in a plane, two times in a roll made his stomach churn and his skin tingle in fustration. This was really not necessary. Going over to pick up felix when he could easily come down here on his own.

"That's my boy" she remarked, making Javier scrowl at her as a result of the of statement. His reaction made her erupt in laughter

"No matter how much you must have grown. You will always be my son" she said playfully batting her eyelash, staring at Javier who had a numb reaction and Anne knew that he was definitely thinking about something

"I have called him, So he is expecting you soon. Now get going before you miss your flight"

"I have to wait for Bella to get here, she is the one that would be dropping me in the airport" he said slouching down on the couch, nearest to him after adjusting his body hug t-shirt

"Oh right, when will she be here?"

"Anytime from now"

"Ok goody" she said and Javier could see the excitement in her face. He really wondered what that boy had done to her. It had to be magic. Truth be told, Javier really owed Felix an appreciation for getting his mother back on her feet. He remembered how depressed his mother was after the death of his father. It hit her so hard that Javier even thought that she might choose to meet up with her husband. So, he took it upon himself to put a close eye on her in case she tried anything stupid. She wasn't mentally stable at that time and Javier really feared the worst. She remained like that for years until she finally met Felix. She became her bubbly and agile self again.

Javier was now most definetly sure that he could now go on fully with his life without having to worry about what she might or might not do. He had. Scrap that. He still has a slight disapproval for his mother being with Felix.  He was way younger than her. She was about 68 and Felix  was in his age range. It was kind of absurd for his mother to date somebody in his age range and he had not come to accept it no matter how hard, he tried or no matter how hard Bella tried to talk him to it.

Speaking of Bella. She walked into the sitting room where Javier and Anne stayed. She had a little smile on her face as she stood by the door, adjusting her hair.

"You are finally here" Javier asked not taking his eyes off his phone.

"Bell how was the drive?" Anne said, giving off a warning smile to Bella.

"It was just 5 minutes, mum" Bella said rolling her eyes playfully

"Anyways, Javier is ready to go"

"Awwn that is so sweet" Bella said in a slight mocking tone, addressing Javier.

"Don't make it more awkward than it already is" Javier said still not taking his eyes from his phone.

"Are you ready?" She asked

"I guess so" Javier sighed, looking up to her.

"Then let's get this thing done with"

"Sure" Javier got up and headed for the door with Bella trailing from behind. He walked to her car and got in. Bella was such a crazy driver, even more reckless than he could ever be. He once asked why she was so reckless on the road and her reply was "I don't mind leaving this earth. If a road accident is the only means for me to end this constant torture then, I will continue driving like this until the very end"

She said it plainly and she even had a little smile on her face but Javier knew that there was more to that statement.

If one should ask a lashedta what their greatest wish was, they would probably choose a way to have a normal life or some might even choose to end everything. If Javier was given a choice like that, years back, he would have most definitely ended everything. But now, with Hattie creeping into his heart, ending his life would be worst thing ever because he wouldn't spend any time with Hattie, telling her daily, how much he loves her. He just wished that he could give her a life that she wanted, that he wasn't the monster that the devil made him to be.

"I would put that seat belt on, if i were you" Bella stated, noticing the way Javier sat totally ignoring the seat belt.

"You don't need to tell me, You are a killer driver and I mean that literally"

"You know me well, bro" Bella said shutting her own door.

"Mum really has a way of getting you" Bella said amidst laughter, looking at the tensed Javier.

"I still don't understand why I fucking have to pick him up. Anne would never see reasons with me" Javier groaned in fustration "That would be a waste of cash. Come to think that I even thought that mum was the conservative one"

"We both know that money isn't a problem for you. You don't just want to go. Your disdain for that boy is questionable"

"I dont hate him" javier shrugged

"Of course" Bella said sarcastically,

"I just think he should be with someone his age" Javier stated honestly

"Whatever, let's go" Bella said, igniting the engine as she drove off

The drive was quiet and Javier had the time to think since he was finally free from his nagging mother. He had not had the time to think since he got back from his visit with mephistopheles. His thought were the same, circulating round the same scenario.

Whichever way the deal was going to go, his joy was that he was finally going to get Hattie in a week. Words couldn't explain how much he missed her. He missed her from the minute she walked away from him but he didn't have it in him to admit it.

Now that he was sure that mephistopheles knew about his bond with Hattie, he really wondered what mephistopheles will do about it. He had a feeling that what mephistopheles will demand might be almost impossible but he didn't care. He was ready to dance to the music of his actions. There was nothing that mephistopheles would want that he couldn't offer so he was ready for anything. Curse Andrew for making him go through all of this.

He just wished he could wake up one morning and find out that all his problem was gone. Including the lashedtas, hyrans and mephistopheles bullshit. He really felt exhausted about the whole situation and there was nothing he could do to change who he was and the calamity that surrounded being a lashedta.

"Are you okay?" Bella asked noticing how quiet her brother was. Javier also noticed how calmly she drove which was almost unbelievable.

"Someone has been taking drivers lessons" he said totally ignoring the question she first threw at him.

"You looked sick so I was worried that you might get worse if I drove at my normal pace"

"I do?" Javier asked not knowing that his inner thoughts had an effect on his physical look

"What is it?" Bella asked glancing at him from time to time.

"Nothing much. Keep driving" he shoed her in a bid to stop her from asking too many questions. He just wasn't in the mood to answer any of her question as it will only make him more tensed that he already was

"You just have to tell me" Bella said standing her ground to know what was really in his mind. Yes, she was that nosey and it really pissed Javier up, sometimes

"I just don't want to talk about it" Javier said plainly.

"Is it about Hattie?" she stared at him.

"Could you at least keep your eyes on the road before you kill us both" Javier said, pointing his index finger on the road

"So it is about Hattie" Bella concluded with the way he diverted the question.

"And it is not your business" scrowled at her, resulting in silence in the car.

Javier looked at the window and resumed his thinking. His eyes caught hold of little kids playing in a little field. It was almost winter so almost all schools had gone for vacation. A lot of kids were around this season, waiting patiently and happily for Christmas.

Javier looked at how happy they looked. He used to be like that. A child with no worry but his childhood lasted for a very short period of time before darkness chose him. He watched the little boy laughing at the slightly older girl who appeared to be his sister, chasing him. Javier really wished that he could smile like that, smile from deep within the dark pits of his heart.

"We will find her" Bella finally said after the long period of silence

**

"You must be Javier right" he stretched forth his hand, smiling sheepishly at Javier.

Javier couldn't hide his emotions, staring at him with a numb face. He took the time to access him. Javier hadn't really spoken to him before. He just had a short glimpse of him one time and that was it

The tatoo on the right side of his neck was quite visible and Javier could bet that every part of his body also had tatoos hidden under it. He also had an ear piercing accompanied with a nose piercing. To cut the whole description short, he looked like a bandit in Javier's opinion

Felix noticed the hesitation coming from Javier side and proceeded in wiggling his hanging hand, signalling Javier that he was still waiting from

 a hand shake

Javier looked down at felix's hands, sighed and forcefully returned the handshake

"Yes I am. I am sure that you haven't exactly met me before?"

"No I haven't" felix stated

"Ok then, where are your luggages?" Javier asked looking around the busy airport.

"I didn't bring any. I could get some clothes right there in Chicago and I don't plan on staying long. I just plan on spending a few days with my baby and I'm off"

"Your what?" Javier asked to be sure he had heard correctly

"My b..."

"You know what, it's fine" Javier cut him off because if felix had said that triggering word one more time, he would have ended up throwing fists. That was the last thing to do in an airport  "let's go" he stated walking with Felix trailing behind him

"Did i really need to pick you up?" Javier asked turning sharply towards felix

"Not really, it was my shawty's idea" he said, smirking with a chew gum going back and forth in his mouth. He definitely said that line to piece Javier off and javier knew it.

How bad Javier wanted to smack that chew gum right out of his mouth so that he could at least get his thinking straight.

"Good for you" Javier turned around and resumed walking

"Did i perhaps do something wrong?" He asked walking in a fast pace to meet up to Javier.

"Did you?" Javier snapped his head toward him, still not lagging in his pace

"I asked?"

"And I asked too" Javier shot back

"You don't like me very much do You?"

"Am glad you noticed" Javier admitted "anyways, I suppose that you already booked a flight?"

"Yes I have" Felix said waving his ticket

"Then let's get this thing over with" Javier said and he meant every word that proceeded from his mouth.
