Chapter 53

Javier tapped his hand on the desk, patiently  looking at doctor Charles in front of him. He was tired of convincing him and Javier was on the verge of using his powers.

"I already told You, I don't want to have anything to do with this" doctor Charles said as he returned to scribbling on a paper on his desk

"What is your reason? If I may ask?" Javier asked, trying his possible best to hide the anger that he felt inwards

"You asked me to treat this same girl, a while ago. I complied because you told me that she was involved in an accident but here you are again with that same request. It is strange to me how she keeps on getting hurt and I feel like I am doing an illegal job. No matter how much you may offer, I'm afraid, I can't treat her" he said and Javier knew that the man in front of him will not give it a second thought as a result of how determined he was about not helping Hattie 

"What if I increase the pay?" Javier asked to see if he would change his mind

"No I won't compromise, you don't want to take her to the hospital and that brings about a lot of suspicions" doctor Charles said

"Are you sure about that, charles?" he said in a whisper, looking intently at doctor Charles, not breaking eye contact with him

"It's... it" doctor Charles stammered, blinking rapidly and Javier knew that he finally had a hold on him

"I only need you to do one thing for me and you will comply because you have no other reflex" Javier said and watched doctor Charles nodding rapidly

"When do I start?" he asked giving off a warming smile

"Tomorrow and you can't keep me waiting" Javier said, also getting up from his seat in the process

"I'll be at your house tomorow" he said to Javier who was already shutting the door 

Javier stepped out of the hospital and made his way to his car. He finally had Hattie but he couldn't help the anger that he felt inside of him. He knew he would continue to feel that anger until he finally kills Andrew. 

Javier entered into his car, igniting the engine  and finally drove off.

Hattie winced as she tried to turn to the other side. She had forgotten how badly her leg hurt, that she turned around quickly, in the process, causing a sharp pain on her injured leg. 

She squeezed her eyes tightly shut, trying her best to bear the pain but the pain she felt was almost unbearable. She would most definetly thin twice before making a sharp turn like that.

The door opened on her still struggling with the harrowing pain in her leg. She opened her eyes and it was Javier. Javier noticed how much she was struggling and rushed to her.  By now beads of sweat had already gathered on her forehead as a result of her little combat with pain

"Are you alright?" he sat beside her, holding her hands in his

"Am fine.... ahhh" she winced as she felt the pain again, she swayed her head to the side, gritting her teeth and shutting her eyes tightly in a bid to tone down the pain that didn't seem like going away

"It's okay" he stood up and proceeded in patting her hair, slowly, in a bid to assist her through the pain "breath in.... breath out" he instructed and she complied and it really worked like magic

When the pain had finally disappeared, she looked at him and different emotions clouded her mind. She remembered everything that happened and her eyes became glassy again. She blinked rapidly to prevent the tears from falling, glaring at him at the same time

He noticed her reaction and his heart tore into pieces. He never wanted to hurt her. That wasn't his intention but she would never get that part

"Do you wanna sit up?" Javier asked in order to get rid of the awkward atmosphere.

"Don't touch me" she said faintly, withdrawing her hand from his as if finally remembering that her hands was under his. She looked away from him, swallowing hard. The tears were threatening to fall and it wouldn't take long before she won't be able to hold them back 

"I made breakfast" Javier announced 

"Am not hungry" she said weakly still not turning to him "Can you tell Daphne to come over and pick me up?"

"No I can't" Javier said and he meant it. Letting her go was what got them into this mess in the first place. He wasn't going to make the same mistake twice 

"And what is that suppose to mean?" she shot at him, avoiding eyes contact with him. She feared that if she looked at him, she would feel vulnerable. She needed to be angry at him and that was what she was doing 

"You are not leaving my sight" Javier said firmly.

"We have no business with each other." 

"And why is that?"

"You killed my boyfriend" she said straining her already strained voice 

"I did it for you Hattie"

"And did i ask for your help. My life was doing just fine until you came and messed it up"

"You don't mean that"

"I do, I loved him and he loved me too and you took him away from me"

"You don't even know what love is. You have never been loved sincerely, that's why you mistook violence for love" 

"It didn't matter to me" 

"Well it did to me"Javier snapped

"What do you know about love?" Hattie's voice came out rather shaky as a result of the tears she kept on fighting.

"You thought me everything I needed to know about love" Javier said calmly and he meant ever word that proceeded out of his mouth

"You don't know what you just said" 

"Is that your coping mechanism? Hiding away from the truth?" Javier said and Hattie couldn't help but agree more. 

"Javier stop" she shunned, she didn't want to hear another word. Her fears were already coming forth. He was breaking through the walls that she had built around her heart and that was what she was avoiding

"Why?" he asked almost losing his temper

"Because you have no right to do that" she breathed in "You have no right to tell me that you love me. You are just going to manipulate me for your own selfish desires, that's what you lashedtas are good at" the tears she had been fighting since the beginning of the conversation, came flowing down her cheeks  as she sobbed continuously. Javier hardened face, soften at the sight of her tears

"Hattie no" Javier said, addressing her tears "please "

"Is this not want you want. seeing me like this"

"Why will I, I want to make you happy, I want to put a smile on this saddened face. If you would let me" Javier said calmly 

"You chances ran out the day I found out that you killed Westin"

"We can start all over and forget about all this"

"Don't you get it Javier, there is no WE in this. You and I are not compatible.  Get that"

"It's okay" Javier said in defeat, she was still grieving so reasoning with him would be the last thing she wanted to do. The best remedy at that moment was to give her space to think

"I don't understand why you are this moody, you should be happy. You finally have her" Bella said confused by the look on Javier's face

"I don't even know how to feel" Javier said, racking his hair with his hands "she is still angry at me"

"Of course she will be. Do you expect her to just forget about everything and move on?" 

"I know but it's. How would you ever understand" Javier said hopelessly 

"Yeah you are right, I don't believe in love bullshit" Bella said plainly 

"Of course you don't, that exactly what I thought too. Love just didn't make sense to me but now, everything is just so different from what I planned"

"Good for you" Bella snickered "how is she"

"She is in really bad shape. I assigned a doctor for her and he has already began treatment. I had to move mother and Felix to the

 other house not to arouse any suspicion"

"Andrew really went far this time" 

"This is the farthest be can go because I will kill him before he even thinks of pushing further"

"Have you thought of a way to get Fay? Hattie's sister"

"I have been thinking about it lately and I plan on going to get her"

"How will you know where she is, you are not connected to her so it could be hard"

"I will find a way" Javier assured her

"And the Cartels?" Bella asked 

"They wouldn't be a problem" 

"And why is that?"

"I seeked for there destruction from mephistopheles so they will die one by one. Well apart from Andrew because i will kill him myself"

"That was really smart, but speaking of that, you never told me what your deal with mephistopheles was" Bella squinted her eyes out of curiosity 

"We haven't talked about it"

"Hm thats strange. But anyways, let's see how it goes" bella said, crossing her legs, looking intently at Javier who had an uncomfortable look on his face

Andrew glared at Lawson as he watched him laugh with reckless abandon. He was boiling from within and Lawson's reaction made him more angry

"I don't see what is so funny" Andrew snapped

"Come to think you even though of getting married to her " Lawson said trying his best to suppress another laughter that seemed to be building up

"That Javier" Andrew snapped, running his hands through his hair in frustration, messing it up but he didn't care. "How was he even able to find her?"

"Are you seriously asking me that question. Javier thinks in a very different way and i had  feeling he was going to find her, no matter how hard you tried to hide her"

"This has nothing to do with thinking. He must have have done something and I can't seem to find out what he did"

"So What do you plan on doing next?"

"Get Hattie back" Andrew blurted. He wasn't going to give up. That was not in his vocabulary

"You never get tired, do you?"

"You know me"

"You are lucky that you got away, next time, Javier would most definetly kill you" Lawson warned

"He doesn't scare me"

"He is as corny as you and he will use your method in killing you"

"I would like to see him try"

"So stubborn. Typical Andrew. I don't even know why you are bound on getting this girl.  You and I know that you don't love her"

"You are right I don't. It just feels good to own Javier's property"

"You are playing with fire and you know what happens when one plays with fire"

"Not when I quench the source of the fire. Javier is my prey and not the other way round"

"We'll see about that. But as a brother, I advise you to stay clear from Javier, the outcome might not be as funny as you think"

"I don't need that advise" Andrew snickered

"Hmmm Pathetic" Lawson remarked, amidst laughter

"Do you think that Javier could have gone to mephistopheles?" Andrew asked as realization hit him

"He could have. I don't really care though" Lawson shrugged 

"Well that pretty much explains the situation. He must have seeked him in order to find a way to connect back to Hattie after I disconnected the both of them"

"You went that far?" Lawson gave Andrew a questioning look

"Why do you think Javier had not rescued Hattie a long time ago. What baffles me is how desperate he was to the extent of seeking mephistopheles"

"That's on him anyway. He probably made a deal and you and I know that making a deal with mephistopheles is not a funny experience. I must say, he truly loves that girl"

"And that is why I wanna take her away from him"

"Goodluck" Lawson said, raising his glass up in the air
