Chapter 42

The walk to the principal's office is surprisingly uplifting to me, as I find myself whistling more than once, even if I do it horribly each time.

Clay looks at me with the hint of a smile in his eyes and something else, something that makes me go red involuntarily, and so I just go on whistling hoping it'll seem I'm getting red from the effort I'm so fevrently putting in to make it sound horrible.

The teacher snaps her head back to me and I can see the faint smile playing on her lips "First time in the principal's office, is it miss Daniels?" I find myself smiling more enthusiastically than I'd wanted to, and my voice comes out a little bit excited "You can call me Arya ma'am, and Is everyone this excited when it's thier first time?" She laughs at my statement and I can see Bryce shooting daggers at me from the corner of my eyes.

The teacher, Miss Donna as she later introduces herself to be, makes me feel relaxed and calm in her presence. She's about the youngest teacher I've seen so far and I'm guessing it's her looks that endear her to her students.

It might have sounded unfair of me to say, until I found out she taught Applied Physics. I can't seem to know why, it's always the pretty ladies with the glasses that surprisingly study the principles I consider impossible.

This lady dosen't even look like someone who's seen a textbook before. She looks to Clay and then to me and then back to Clay, I find his name sounds suprisingly easy and pleasant. I don't like the way she keeps on looking at the both of us though, and I cough a bit to show her I notice. I notice the sly glance she keeps on giving the both of us, and as I catch her gaze I shake my head furiously, trying to tell her that she's getting the wrong idea.

I'm not in any way falling for this boy, and it surely isn't because of him that I'd just slapped Bryce. I slapped Bryce because I wanted to and because my palm had been itching me to carry out the singular action so badly.

Miss Donna smiles as she also shakes her head as if to tell me yes, yes, yes. Her thoughts are definitely straying the wrong way and I suprisingly want to speak out and tell her she's interperteing things the wrong way.

I can see the faces of both boys staring at us in joint fascination, like they can't seem to understand just what is happening before either thier eyes. Miss Donna just looks at Clay and gives him some sort of congratulatory look, like he had made his first conquest, and the embarrassed look Clay shoots back at her makes me forget my anger.

So he can actually feel embarrassed. I see her gesture with a sweep of her hands and there it is, the principal's office. Excitement makes me open it hurriedly, what I see makes me burst out laughing.
