He spoke of family that didn't want him, and yet always seemed to always demand something or the other from him now.
As a child his father had divorced his mom, and she had been forced to leave with him and relocate to the suburbs. She met someone who loved her for who she was and so she got married to him. The marriage has been a happy one ever since but now, his adopted father is dead and his mother is on her sickbed.
He spoke of how if she died he'd be alone in this world and the inheritance of his parents would fall on his head.
His father has suddenly returned and now he's trying to take his mother to court for illegally taking away his child away from him. He spoke of how his father had the tell tale glint in his eyes, of someone who had been jilted and had lost everything to the wiles of a woman who he left his wife and son for, and now he's back hoping to fall into wealth by using his son, and gaining the inheritance of his former wife's husband.
I had to just let out choked sobs as he told me of how his mother is in a tight spot right now, as her sickness seems to worsen by the day. She is torn over taking revenge from her former husband by stripping her own son of his inheritance, and leaving her husband disappointed, and the other option, which would just be to let things just happen how her ex husband has probably been planning it ever since he heard she had re married a big shot.
His mother had to think about his future before she takes any drastic decision. She had agreed to release his custody back to his father and she loved him too much to take the other course of action. I can only wonder the sort of dilema his mother is stuck in.
I think I can understand the reason for his irritation of that first day. I can't even imagine that my father would ever leave my mother. They loved each other too much to even be seperated for seven minutes without putting a call through to the other, they loved thier kids more than anything else in the world, I don't think they'd ever use us for money.
"What are you going to do?" I ask him and the shy smile he gives me makes me know that he's now embarrassed at the sheer fact that he'd laid out his emotion before a girl. The action makes me chuckle as I can't help but let my mind stray to how some boys seemed to think that they weren't allowed to show their emotions. The same way Scott would always refuse to tell me what he's clearly thinking.
"Your Father wants to take advantage of the fact that he's the one that gave birth to you, as a levrage ground for him to get what he didn't work for" My words seem to him like I'm saying something very obvious "Show him you aren't the son he can use anymore" I say as the bell for the end of the day rings, and I stand up to leave.
