The surprise that engulfs me is nothing compared to the one I find in his eyes. His face takes on a soft look, like it was melting and I can't help but find it cute. I almost groan and lean in closer when I remember exactly who and where I am.
We are in the halls and I am the girl that has just been dumped by one of the most popular boys in school, if others see me leaning into a boy's chest, I don't think it would do well for my image.
I'll be called a slut and a prostitute, and I'm sure Aron would find a way to milk it to his advantage. I don't want to do anything that would help him anymore.
"I'm sorry" I say as I move back and begin to walk off, but I can hear steps following me, and sure enough when I turn back, I see him there walking like a lost puppy as he trails my every move.
I try to walk faster and avoid him but it seems he has his eyes trained on me, and I can see the stares of people follow us as we walk down the Halls.
I keep an eye out for Scott and Oakley but I can't seem to find them anywhere, "Do you have anything to say to me?" I ask him and as I stop, he stops also.
There's a weird glint in his eyes, like he enjoys this little game that he's playing with me. He likes toying with my emotions, and he likes making me feel insecure, he likes making me feel uncomfortable, and I'm sure that the anger in my eyes tells him exactly what I think of this little thing he's doing.
He doesn't give me an answer and I keep on walking, but he still follows me. He trails me like I was holding something precious of his and I would not let it go. I get to the cafeteria just in time to see Oakley face red in anger, and staring at one of the boys on the hockey team.
I know what usually comes with that sort of anger that lights up her face, and it goes by the name of an irrational decision. I can see her eyes as she assesses him from head to toe, noticing the way he loves his cleanliness, and the way he likes that fresh air around him, her hands move to the plate of food that she has ordered and I can only imagine how this would end.
I walk faster now and get there just in time to hold her hand from spilling the cup of coffee that she has ordered on him. He looks at both of us with a weird glance and I'm not sure I exactly know him.
"What's happening?" I ask her, ignoring the fool standing near us and the other fool that seems to have stopped a few feet away from us.
She doesn't give me an answer, just breathing heavily in and out and I thank my stars for this decision that she has made.
It's best not to get into trouble when you are still dealing with emotions. It seems one surprise follows another as Scott comes in with a slightly bloody lip and a changed shirt. He looks like he's been getting into trouble and I almost groan in frustration.
