Chapter 55

I ran to the river bank and posed, ready to jump into the water when I transform. I wore the amulet and wished that I become a mermaid, I waited but nothing happened. I almost fell off the deck because I was losing balance but Bennett caught me. He carried me back to the bar.

"I thought you said I'll transform" I asked him.

"That I didn't say no doesn't mean I said yes" he chuckled out.

"Whatever. I'm bored" I complained.

"Then let's make some paint. Come with me" he dragged my hand, and took me to a very big beautiful garden filled with so many trees and their fruits were so ripe and fresh.

"So how do we make the paint?" I asked Him.

"We pluck some cherries, put them in a bucket and squash them with our legs, and then we call it red paint. We do the same to blue berries and call it blue paint" he explained.

"Sounds like fun. I'll make up to ten bucks of paints before you make one" I whined.

"Is that a challenge?" He asked with a smile.

"Suit yourself" I mumbled.

We made about 8 buckets of paints together but wasted it all on paint fight. When we got tired, we fell on the grass and rolled like little kids.

We sat up when we heard Lenny's voice.

"She's back and she needs her amulet" she instructed.

She was talking about Nicky. I looked at my watch - how long have we been here. Wow 12 noon.

"And you both should clean up, you look like you've spent your whole lives in paint pit" Lenny stated and walked out.

Bennett and I stood up.

"She wasn't kidding Lex. We should go clean-up"

"Did you just call me Lex?" He asked in surprise.

"Don't you like it?"

"Are you kidding? I could kiss you" he held my waist.

"Let's go clean up naughty boy"

"We already did" he shrugged.

I looked at him, then at myself. We looked as clean as we were never even in the garden.

"I'm seriously loving this power of a thing" I stated, Bennett laughed.

He held my hand and before I could blink, we were already running towards Nicky and the rest at the river bank, He's so fast.

"Wow Nicky, you look fresh. Did you go back to your mother's womb?" I asked Nicky as I hugged her.

She laughed. Her skin was glittering like gold, so smooth and fresh.

"Did you go through the process of reborn?" Bennett asked her, she nodded.

"What does that mean?" I asked ignorantly.

"The mermaids do go through the process of reborn whenever they come up to the surface and go back. Or when they think that their skin no longer suits the mermaid world" he explained.

"The mermaid love to look fresh and smooth" Penny stated.

"They are the most beautiful creatures ever" the Alpha added. "Yea right, they are not that beautiful" Lenny scoffed.  Everyone looked at her in shock but she rolled her eyes.
