This particular section of the shelf was designed to be open, it didn't have a lid to shut it with.
Pulling the handkerchief, she didn't notice a medium-sized paper box on it. The box had fallen over, leaving it open with some pieces of paper and probably documents falling off.
She picked it up, noticing it was just old printed pictures and handwritten letters, that seemed a little aged too.
She saw a picture of a girl...
A young girl, probably a girl around eighteen, nineteen, or maybe twenty.
The pictures looked slightly faded, it was probably old, and she wondered how old.
She saw another picture of Ray as a child and an older looking lady, they looked alike, so she figured that was his mum.
She then found other series of the previous girl and some had a caption below them. The captions seemed like the writer was intimate with this girl.
She also saw a handwritten letter which seemed old, it says...
~To my only thoughts, I Love you~
~Becca~
Was this for Ray?
She saw another picture that left her with one obvious conclusion.
A picture of Raymond and the girl in the previous pictures. They were wrapped in each other's arms and the girl was holding up the camera that took the photo. They looked young, Ray looked like he was in his early twenties, so those pictures were obviously taken years ago.
They were a couple!
Was she Becca?
And why did Ray feel the need to keep and save these?
She had reached the end of what she found there, just left with one last letter that said.
~Till death do us apart~
~Rebecca~
She wondered who that was for and what it actually meant. Was the girl in the pictures Rebecca?
She was worried about why Ray protected these things, she put them together, reaching the box to return them before she found a piece of gold jewelry in the box. It was a necklace, It had a heart shaped pendant, with colorful inscriptions on it that said...
"RayBecca"
Okay, this! This was the combination of their names, Raymond and Rebecca. This made her heart ache, this told her all she almost needed to know. They were a couple and they must have been super In love for all this to have been exchanged or planned then.
Where was she now?
Was Ray in love with her then?
Was he still in love with her?
She knew if this was in the past it shouldn't mean anything to her, and she wasn't going to make anything out of it. So she just parked it up and left it where she saw it.
She made away with what she came to get and went to take her shower.
Scott had arrived at 5 PM, he gave her a gift card that according to him, Ray ad asked him to give her to make all her expenses with.
Ray always spoiled her with every given chance, but his taking note of every expense factor in her life just to make sure he covers it was thoughtful of him.
Scott took her to Lang's place where they picked her up and they picked her up.
"If we weren't working on our new house, we would have had dinner at Bushy," Lang said.
Amanda had eaten twice at Bushy with Ray, Bushy was a Five star restaurant, they had exotic delicious delicacies that were worth all the hype. The only problem was that the cost was for the elite, Lang wasn't quite the elite part of the society yet, but she could sure afford to eat at Bushy, well if it wasn't for her new house project.
"I guess bills on me then.
Scott, please we wanna have dinner at Bushy." Amanda said as she saw Scott's acknowledgment through the car's rearview mirror.
"Oh my...
Yes!" Lang let out.
Their meals have been served but Amanda still had those pictures and letters in her mind.
Yes, it was in his past, but they seemed important to him. She wanted to brush the thought out and just have fun, but she guessed she was way into him even his past could get her all worked up.
"Do you have a picture of you and your ex saved somewhere?" She threw that question the very second she thought about it.
Lang looked up at her, then back at her dish.
Amanda saw the confusion written on Lang's face, and she didn't want to make this hangout about her and Raymond so she decided to swallow all her questions and curiosity.
She faced her very aromatic protein packed plate, ready to empty it.
"So you mean if I still have pictures I had with my exes save and may be kept," Lang asked.
Okay, now this is not on her, because she had wanted, had decided to let this go, but Lang asked for it.
"Yea, like isn't it a little weird?" Amanda asked.
"Uhh, yeah, totally.
Why?" Lang enquired as to know why she was asking.
This is the part of the discussion that she didn't want to get to. She didn't want to look too nosy, besides they are just officially starting to date, so they might be little rough patches to clean up.
"Uhh, nothing, it's just this blog I was reading, the lady said her new boyfriend had pictures of his ex and himself from far back still saved in his closet, protected from damages."
"New boyfriend, huh?" Lang asked, looking up at her while she tried separating the beef from the stake.
Amanda knew exactly where that question was coming from, a place of disbelief. Why did she even have to say "new boyfriend"?!
"I think, I'm not quite sure anymore, but new or old, it doesn't matter.
"So, how is Tyler?"
Lang looked at her, now more confused than when she had initially asked the previous question.
"Tyler? When did I start knowing how Tyler was doing at weekends?"
Amanda tried to change the topic to any other thing, but Tyler! It was unusual that she wanted to know how Tyler was doing, and not as if there was an issue with him.
"Yea, I have not seen him in a while, last week was very hectic for me." She responded casually like she actually cared about Tyler.
"Oh, he is good. I guess." Lang said as she dipped her beef into the sauce, taking all of its flesh away from the stake.
They finished their dinner, leaving there to their karaoke spot. They decide to take a few shots, which they did and they were ready to sing their heart out. They were little embarrassing times because Lang couldn't even sing the Alphabets and not find a way to sing off-key. But she was having fun and so did Lang.
They had fun, so much fun and it was soon time to go home. Surprisingly Ray had not called her, it gave her a little feeling of freedom, trust and she loved it.
They dropped Lang off as they headed back to Raymond's.
They got back, Margi who she met downstairs informed her that Ray was back and that he was in the Library.
She knew her way to the library, so she took the entrance that led her straight to him.
He was sitting at the bar setting of the library as his hands rested on the high counter.
The library light was dim, he was shirtless but had a short on.
He was definitely not reading anything because these little rays of light were too low to read with.
He had a whisky before him, he looked in her direction as he noticed her presence.
"Hey, you." She said as she moved toward him.
"You're back."He said.
"Yes," she responded as she wrapped her hands around his neck from behind and kissed his cheek.
"You have been drinking?" He asked.
"Yea." A little bit. She responded.
It's 11 PM, you didn't call me, while I was out. She added.
"You were having fun, I didn't want to disrupt...
Though I called Scott." He said.
It was totally out of his character to not wanna know if she was safe, so she wasn't wrong for asking, and yes, of course, he called Scott, because he didn't want to interrupt her fun.
Thoughtful! She had never known anyone who looked out for her the way he did.
He guided her before him, picking her up from the ground and to his thighs in a way that her legs crossed over his thighs as she now clinched on him.
They kissed slowly and it turned into lengthy kisses as Ray's hand found its way under her shirt and on her firm moulds.
Their kiss had stopped before Amanda spoke while her hands caressed his face.
"How was your day?"
"Wasn't all that, cause you weren't there." He responded as he gave her a faint kiss on her lips.
"How was yours?" He asked.
Amanda would have loved to spend her day with him, but she still had to admit that she had fun with Lang.
"Fun, but you would have made it better." She said with a smile as she kissed his lips.
His second hand had tried to hold onto the counter, but he had mistakenly missed, pushing down a book which was on it to the floor.
Amanda had looked to see what fell, it was a book and something else had fallen from inside it.
A picture!
A picture of a lady she could now recognize since this morning.
Rebecca!
