Hello readers, check out my new book "Mr Devil And Little Me," Will be updated daily.
The call had dropped, she dropped the phone and went back to the bed in a sad mood. Just after some minutes, a voice mail notification came on her phone.
She speed up to it and ironically, it was from Raymond.
"Hey, where are you? let me come get you...
I miss you."
Raymond had used a voice mail message for the first time in a while, and he was frustrated. He felt defeated. He tossed the phone which landed on his bed, before he fell helplessly on the bed too, with his face up.
He lay there almost motionless for a few minutes while gazing at the ceiling. Heard a faint knock on the door before the entrance opened. It was Margi. Why was she wearing that look?
"Is everything okay?" He asked before sitting up and facing her direction.
"Yes, Everything is fine..."
"Just that I might have been the reason she is not here."
"What are you talking about?" Ray stood from the bed, but he still stood beside it looking confused.
"I.."
What was happening? Ray questioned himself. Why was everyone saddened about something?
"I told her about Rebecca," Margi finally said.
He now understood her misery. Why would she tell his truth for him?
What kind of connection were these women building within just a short period of time that Margi who he had grown with would tell Amanda something that deep.
He traced his hands across his hair before turning around.
"Why would you do that?" He asked while his gaze was away from her.
"I'm sorry son," she said as she moved a little closer to him.
He turned around as he found her face and he just couldn't get mad at Margi. She was a kind considerate woman and he knew she felt guilty that Amanda was missing even thou he knew it was Amanda's choice.
"It's okay."
Ray rubbed his hair roughly fighting a mix of emotions within him.
"It's fine .." he added.
"Just let me handle my business my self."
"Have you heard from Amanda?" Margi inquired.
His mind now back to Amanda and only her.
Where was Amanda? He thought.
His phone had immediately begun to ring and low and behold, it was from Amanda.
He reached the phone and it was truly her calling.
"Hello..." He answered.
"Hello..." He heard her speak in a low fainty voice.
"Are you okay?"
"Where are you? He sounded even more worried, he was more worried. She wasn't sounding very sound.
Ray noticed the striking worrying look that now masked Margi's face.
Only if she didn't go telling his business, maybe all this wouldn't have happened.
"At this hotel..."
"What's the name?" Ray was running out of patience, he didn't even understand why amid his troubles, Amanda's well being was his priority.
"Send your location to me, I think that will do."
"Okay," she responded.
The call had ended, he grabbed his car key and headed out.
Just almost immediately after he started the car engine, he received a notification of her location. He hit the road, speeding and thinking only of his woman, Amanda. His instinct was right, she looked a little pale earlier and that might not have been just from a night of disrupted sleep.
She should stay put and strong, he would be at her location in less than thirty minutes according to the map.
Amanda had started to run a fever, she curled up in the bed and wrapped in the hotel duvet because she was feeling cold at the same time. She thought she was upset at Ray, but it seemed it was just a mere thought because the moment she felt unsafe, the only person she resorted to was Raymond.
She was sick and was barely thinking straight, but she noticed his tone and loved the sense of urgency she heard in his voice.
She might have fallen asleep, she wasn't sure, but her attention was brought to the door as she heard a faint knock on it.
She managed to stand on her feet and headed for the door.
She opened it, and of course, it was Raymond.
She saw his face brighten as he saw her, he made his way inside before reaching for her face. Amanda felt his worry, she felt his emotions because his face writes a thousand words about it. He might really care about her.
"How are you feeling, you don't look well..."
"It is just a little fever," she responded.
"It's not a little fever, you are burning up and shaky at the same time." He moved her hair away from her face before dragging her close to himself and giving her a hug.
Amanda rested on his chest, it was comforting though not returning much of his hug. He rubbed her cheek while he looked down at her a few times. He retracted from her, slightly moving to the side before bending and then immediately picking her up from the ground.
Amanda gasped a little bit, his hold was firm on her and he didn't look like she weighed even a pound. One of her hands was by his neck, but through his back, while the other hand was still holding unto his neck.
"I can Walk"
"But I'd rather have you on my arm." He made his way to the exit.
Amanda was shy, she was not a baby, nor was she that sick that she couldn't walk. They took the elevator. Two couples were too stunned to speak about what they saw. They might think that she had a problem with her leg, or that she was unconscious. But she can't be unconscious and still grip his neck like she currently is.
They left the elevator, and now in the reception, people stared at them, some might even recognize him, but it didn't look like Ray cared much about what anyone thought at that time. She looked up at his face. He was not just basic handsome, he was beautiful.
Maybe he cared about her, maybe she was important to him. At that point, it was only a maybe because Ray's character could switch up the next minute.
He reached his car, opened the front passenger side, and gently placed her down. He leaned in on her, their gaze locked before she felt a sudden force. The chair had been adjusted to go down, to be more relaxing. That was why Ray was leaning in because he was reaching for it.
She was almost startled, but his calm gaze on her gave her a sense of security. She knew she was safe as he would protect her.
Ray had gone to the other side and proceeded with reaching to start the engine.
"I have my stuff in the room"
"Scott will come to get it," he started the engine and he then drove off.
On their way home, Ray had called his doctor, asking him to come and that it was an issue of an emergency.
She just rested on the chair as Ray gave her a few tempting glances.
They got home, and though she had tried to protest against him carrying her, he insisted that she looked like she could barely walk. He carried her in, she saw Margi who immediately walked towards them, reaching to her and touching her even though Ray didn't pause.
"Poor thing," she muttered.
Do I really look that bad, she wondered. What was with the overwhelming pity towards her? Maybe she looked red, where could she get a mirror? To see what was bringing so much attention. She thought.
Ray placed her on his bed before reaching to cover her up.
She tried to it up, but Ray had stopped her.
"Don't stress further, the doctor will be here soon to see that you are fine."
In no time, the doctor was there, he checked her thoroughly and concluded that she had a cold. And that since she had never been exposed to that much cold that it was why she broke down.
"He gave a few prescriptions which she took and soon fell asleep."
She slightly opened her eyes to find Raymond just before her but seated on a little stool just by the bedside.
Had he been there watching her?
She woke up without any knowledge of what the time was saying.
"Hey..."
"Hey" she responded before stretching her self.
"You look better now" he took his hands to her face, moving her hair and rubbing her cheek.
"I feel better too" she smiled before moving his hands to his hair. She dipped her hands into his soft hair as she lightly caressed it.
Raymond now stood but still bent towards her.
He caressed her cheek a few more times wearing a smile before he reached for her lips.
Their lips had joined in harmony and swam in the same rhythm. Slow and steady. Their both eyes shut and Amanda wondered how this man had the ability to make her forget everything and only focus on the present.
How did he fill her with joy just by a kiss?
Oh, she understood Rebecca now, letting Raymond go would drive anyone crazy.
Their kiss had ended but their face still joined with each other.
