Crying Like A Child

Lanre opened the door coming out of Chibuzor’s room, their so called caretaker who she has just taught a lesson. “Oh my god!” She exclaimed opening the door to find out somebody was by the door. “Ify! What is this na? See as you make person fear!” Lanre exclaimed. She was telling Ify that she scared her.

“Lanre what did you do to Chibuzor Kwanu?” Ify asked. The Igbo language she had attached to the question she asked was just a mere exclamation. Lanre only told her that she just dealt with him a little. Then she left Ify there and went back inside the house. Dished herself a plate of rice and chicken stew.

Meanwhile Ify walked into Chibuzor’s flat to go check on him. She found him messed up on the floor. “Chibuzor!” she almost screamed on seeing the state of the caretaker. He had sweat all over him. But worst of all was the foul smell that was oozing all over the room. Ify had to hold her nose in order to block out the smell. On getting closer to him, she realises he had poop on his boxers and on the floor.

“Ify, abeg! Bikonu, don’t kill me. Please don’t be like your evil friend. Abeg save me! Anwalamuo!” Chibuzor exclaimed saying he was dying. Chibuzor’s breathing had become heavy that Ify pitied him. But she could not bear the smell of his poop. She wondered what she would need to do to help him.

“Ogini kaige meru? What do you expect me to do ehn?” Ify said. “Chibuzor you will have to stand up and pack your poop yourself o”. Ify said again. She frowned as she found it frustrating that she could not help the caretaker. Chibuzor told him that he could not stand up on his own. Ify stamped her feet on the ground in annoyance. Then she tried to help Chibuzor on his feet fighting the odour in the room. Chibuzor exclaimed when Ify’s hand touched his body.

“Chibuzor why are you screaming like a female dog in labour?” Ify asked eyeing Chibuzor disapprovingly. “Lanre whipped me with belt!” Chibuzor said crying like a child. Ify could not help but laugh out loud when she heard Chibuzor.

“You see your life! Every time you de fine woman. You feel say you be man you de slap me, now mmanna cool temperature! Your body don cool you abi. You don jam woman when strong pass you”. Ify said. She had used a mixed of Nigeria pidgin and Igbo which means, “Look at you now! You are always chasing after ladies. Then believing you are man enough, you dared to slap me, now you have come to your senses. Lanre has dealt with you”.

Chibuzor looked at Ify pleadingly. He needed her help. Ify helped him anyway. She held him and led him to the multi purpose bathroom which served as a place for the toilet as well as the bathroom. “This is the best I can do for you. Ndo!” Ify said telling him sorry in the native Igbo language before leaving his flat.
