Lanre got into the room to see Ify already lying down on the bed as if she was sleeping. “There is food in the kitchen, it is not poisoned!” Ify said. Lanre did not answer her. She took a pillow and went to sleep in the living room.
Ify turned to see that Lanre has gone to the living room to sleep. She sat up on the bed. “Am I being too harsh on her?” Ify asked no one in particular. “I am sure she is already feeling bad. But she won’t admit it. Maybe I should stop taunting her and probably give her some space”. Ify thought. Then she laid on the bed and slept.
.................................
Ify woke up to see Lanre preparing to take her bath. She noticed the clothes on the bed. She wondered where Lanre could possibly want to go on a Sunday morning. She was tempted to ask but feared not getting an answer. She decided to observe while she prepares herself for church service. She observed as Lanre went to take her bath, dressed up in tight fitting skirt with a length below her knees, but has a slit that cuts through from the base to a point above her knees, showing off a bit of her laps. Then she puts on her wig and tied a scarf over it. Then she grabbed on her black hand bag to match the black skirt she wore. She was wearing a green top and to crown it all, Lanre the fashionista wore green heels. That’s Lanre for you.
“Are you going to church?” Ify asked Lanre. “Yeah!” She replied. Her reply sounded a bit distance, not in volume but in relationship. Ify just shrugged it off and went to prepare herself for her own church. Before she could finish taking her bath, Lanre was already gone. She sighed. At least Lanre was going to church today. Maybe she will hear a message that will change her heart. Ify wished. They she dressed up. Took her phone only to see a message on her WhatsApp. She looked at it to see it is from her cousin who was about getting married. She decided to send her a voice note.
“Ani, please don’t be angry! I already passed the message to her. I will send you her contact later when I am back from church, but for now I need to hurry. I’m running late”. She said. Immediately she was sure the message has been sent, she turned off her mobile data. It wouldn’t take her time if she had sent Lanre’s number at that time, but she was not sure how Lanre would reply her cousin if she were to chat her up or call her when she was still carrying this attitude around. She would send her cousin Lanre’s contact only when she is sure the coast is clear and Lanre is in her happy mode. After turning off her data, Ify places her phone in her bag and did same with her Bible before leaving the house.
