Find A Way

The father of the bride handed the bride to the groom and left to go take his seat. He sat next to his wife.

“Ada, our daughter is really getting married”. The man said placing a hand on his wife’s sweaty palm. Anita’s mother’s name was Ada which means first daughter in the native Igbo language. It is mainly given to the first female children in a family. Unless the parents have another name they would love to give to the child. But it still remains a tittle for the first female children.

O noticing that her hand was wet, he looked at her, studying her closely. Then he smiled.

“Why are you nervous? Ani will be fine”. The man said to his wife. She shook her head. “I know! Just let me feel the way I am feeling even though she will be fine”. Anita’s mother said to her husband.

Lanre could not help but smile at the exchange between the couple. It was beautiful. It was like watching her father and her mother in their happy days until things changed. She sighed. Then she shook her head. She would not want to think about something that will ruin her day more than it already was. She was still trying to clear her head off this morning issues. But it would just pop into her head when she thought she has forgotten about it.

And now, seeing Ify on the dress she was supposed to wear, sort of made her envious. She didn’t want to be. She is someone who when she gets envious of someone, she may end up hurting the person. And at the end, she will start regretting.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. All these while, K kept stealing glances at her.

He thought her beauty was epic. He was thinking he was mainly attracted to get beauty until their encounter at the shoe store. He was attracted to her smart mouth as well.

He inwardly groaned. “Maid of honour or not, he will find a way in getting close to her”. K thought. The innocent look on her face made him wish his hand was placed warmly on it.

He shook his head. “I like her! She is beautiful. Since she has got two things that attracts me, I will just have her for at least a week”. He said in his heart. Then he mocked himself again asking himself what he was thinking.

“Love is not for me! It’s too early to get tied up”. He said to himself, giving himself his own counsel. He has noticed his reluctance in just having for a short while. So he needed to remind himself who he is.

Meanwhile, the priest was now reciting the usual vows for the bride and the groom to recite after him when it was each's turn.

Soon they finished reciting the vows and then they both exchanged their ring. After they had exchanged their ring, the priest pronounced the bride and the groom husband and wife and asked the groom to kiss his bride.
