K decided to wait for Lanre without making a fuse about it. Although he was far beyond tempted to make fuse about her going to meet Mrs Okafor just to tell her she was leaving.
Lanre got to Anita’s mother’s room. She knocked on the door and waited for a response from the woman. Lanre entered the room immediately she heard that she could enter in. She told Mrs Okafor that she was leaving already. Mrs Okafor asked for her bank account details. Lanre did not want to give it to her. She did not want any charity. But the woman said she just wanted to thank her for all she did on Anita’s wedding. She said she wonders what they would have done without her.
After much persuasion from Anita’s mother, Lanre finally gave her account details to the woman. They hugged and she turned to leave.
“Lanre!” Mrs Okafor called. Lanre stopped and turned to look at the woman. “K is a good man when he wants to be. His mother will be happy if a fine young Yoruba girl like you can get her son hooked. Please make him cling to you and make him marry you”. Mrs Okafor said to Lanre. She just smiled. But in her heart, she was not ready to do that. She was not ready for anything marriage yet. As good as it may sound, she was not willing yet. She still has a lot she wanted to achieve. And she won’t give that up for a man who only cares about sleeping with her. K only lust after her. She was sure it can never lead to marriage. Yet she has smiled at the woman, nodded her head and left.
Lanre joined K and they both left in his car. K was driving her to the airport. While they were still on their way when Lanre received a credit alert from her bank. She immediately knew it was Mrs Okafor who had credited her account when she saw the name of the person who sent her money. The amount sent to her was four hundred thousand. It had taken her by surprise. She wished she could call the woman and thank her. But she did not have the woman’s contact information.
K noticed that she was having a good mood. He asked her why she was so happy. “You can’t believe this! See!” Lanre showed K her phone showing him the alert she had received. “Mrs Okafor sent me money! I wish I can call her and tell her how grateful I am”. She said to K. He asked her if it was four hundred thousand that was making her that happy.
“What? Is it bad? Somebody gave me something, money that is not mine”. Lanre said. K smirked.
“And I offered you five million naira”. He said to her. She used her fingers and covered her ears. She did not want to listen to him. Soon they got to the airport.
