Postpone The Wedding

Meanwhile, the Governor already heard that his son had been to Lanre’s place. He laughed. “He finally had guts! At least one thing must kill a man, right?” The Governor asked.

“Yes Your Excellency!” The informant said. The Governor sighed.

“Christian, you have been a friend of Kehinde’s for a very long time now. Do you think this woman is the ideal woman for my son?” The Governor asked. It turns out that Christian was the informant after all.

Christian did not say anything. He just kept mum.

“I think it will be better to postpone the wedding to another two months. Or will three months be better? I want to see if he can actually rebel against his father and marry a woman who’s life will be put to danger of he does”. The Governor said. Christian only spoke at this point. He asked the Governor if he was indeed going to kill Lanre.

“Before I became the governor, you used to call me uncle Adewale, now you call me Your Excellency. Should we not drop the formalities when you are in my house?” The Governor asked. Christian smiled.

“Three months will be better. Kehinde is quite slow and may not get the clue that you want him to defer aunty”. Christian said. Both men laughed and shook their head. Christian at this point decided to take his leave and was excused. Once he left, he smirked.

“This is going to be fun indeed. Sorry pal, I will be your rival in this game. That’s the only way you will be able to come to your senses. Hope you realise someday soon that your game was stupid and needless”. Christian said. He got into his car and drove out. All these had happened about two a hours after K had gone to see Lanre.

All the while he was waiting for Lanre, his father was waiting for him. He wondered how his son would feel like after he returns from seeing the woman that seems to be calling his son’s heart.

“Kunle, your son has started again! He will not pick my calls. Imagine woman that he will be getting married to very soon, he won’t pick her calls either. He won’t even come see her, and she left Enugu to come see him. He better not be going around with all those cheap prostitutes in the street o”. Olasile said to her husband the Governor. He laughed. Then he told her that her son was no longer a small boy and that at times, he would need some privacy.

“Are you now supporting him? It is you who spoiled these children for me. Look at Temitope, she will not listen to me. She wants to marry an oyibo man. It is not like he is rich or even a politician. He is just one ordinary oyibo man that does not do anything”. Olasile said. The Governor told her that the young man their daughter wants to marry has a reasonable job as a gym instructor.
