Pearl stood by Lanre. She had a victorious smile on her lips as well. What they were doing could put them in trouble. But for Lanre she was willing to go through the trouble.
“I’m here for business!” Lanre said. The senator looked at Lanre wondering what kind of business he could possibly do with her. She told him she him to invest in her.
“Invest in you? How?” He asked. Lanre told him she wanted a place in politics and most importantly, she wanted to get close to top politicians and business men. She wanted to create a spot with the elite ladies in Lagos.
“Why do you want that? I can’t do such a thing for you. In the upper society, you need to earn your place”. The man said. Lanre chuckled. She asked him if he meant she would need to steal her place. He wondered what kind of girl she was, so bold to be able to confront him and even try to use blackmail to get him to help her climb the ladder of the aristocrats and political icons.
“You seem smart! But hope you know it is not smart to blackmail a man like me? I can end your life when I want”. He said to Lanre. But she didn’t fret. She seemed less bothered about his threat. She told him if he was going to do it, he could as well start by saying yes and booking an appointment for her to meet with the women leader in the state.
The man shook his head. The girl was ambitious. “Who sent you? Are you an assassin? You want to kill the women leader? You seem too calm blackmailing a senator like me to be an ordinary girl. Who exactly are you?” The senator asked.
Lanre puts on a frown that did not take long to clear off her face. She asked the senator if he would still be alive had her mission been to hurt him. He shook his head then nods. He realised he was confused. But then he thought the girl was indeed brave. That was one striking feature about Lanre that he got. She doesn’t seem to be afraid of the consequences of her actions.
“You will get what you want as long as those videos and pictures are not released on the internet”. He said to Lanre. Then he gave her a card and asked her to reach out to him in two days. So Lanre and Pearl left there unscathed. It was like a dream to Pearl who kept on chuckling and releasing sigh of reliefs.
“I never thought it will turn out to be this easy. Honourable Ojo is a sly man. He is not easy. But you got him to do as you said. This is incredible”. Pearl said. She was over excited.
“Her Excellency! Or should I say chairlady?” Pearl teased. Lanre scoffed. She definitely would be called the first if she decides she wants to take the top seat in the country.
