Meanwhile the senator, honourable Ojo sat on his bed. He laughed out loud. He shook his head as he laughed. She must be thinking she out did him. But he was just letting her off the hook because of her confidence. Other than that, she still has a long way to go. But either ways, he thought she would be useful in the future.
“Òtútù abiyẹ lọ lẹhin toad nigba ti o gbẹkẹle awọn iyẹ rẹ. O gbagbe pe apakan rẹ yoo ṣubu laipẹ ati pe toad ko nilo lati sunmo lati lu (The winged termite went after the toad while relying on its wings. It forgot that its wing will soon fall off and the toad need not come close to strike)”. The senator said and burst out into laughter yet again.
“A child will remain a child to his elders no matter how tall he grows”. He said yet another proverbs before standing up from the bed. The only thing he would want to protect was his nakedness. But if he wanted to stop Lanre, he would have done that. He will let her keep her card while he helps her. When the time comes, he will use her. He immediately puts a phone call through and set an appointment with the women leader of the state.
………………………………..
Meanwhile, Lanre was tired of hearing Pearl’s ceaseless praise of her. “It was too easy. So don’t give me the credit. That man will definitely want something from me in the future. This card is not enough to make him help me. Of he wants, he could send men to retrieve it and I will be dead. The both of us”. Lanre said. Pearl asked her if that means they were in danger. Lanre told her she was not sure. But if they see the next day, then there was hope for them.
“I don’t think he will hurt us. He should know better than to do that since this card is in our hands. It may not be much, but it is good for a start. The typical African man is concerned about his nakedness. Keeping it away from the public eye is their pride”. Pearl said. Lanre nods. Then she managed a smile. She also wants to believe that nothing will go wrong.
And so when they saw the next day, Lanre and Pearl did feel hopeful. Since the next day was a Sunday, Lanre for the first time since her stay in Lagos decided to find a church where she could attend for that day. She hoped whatsoever church she gets into will be a good one. Chidinma got to tell her that there was one in the street, but Lanre said she was not going to that one even though she had no clue how it was or how they operate there.
At the end, they just stayed back at home and followed one of the popular churches live on TV as they carried out their Sunday activities.
