Lanre gave Chidinma a reassuring smile telling her she was going on a date. Chidinma opened her mouth agape. She was somewhat surprised as one could not possibly think that Lanre was one to go on a date. Even Christian who shows so much concern about her, she would always turn him down. Suddenly she began to panic.
“Aunty you promised mommy you won’t do anything”. Chidinma said. Lanre laughed knowing where the girl was coming from.
“A date doesn’t necessarily mean it is between a man and a woman who like each other. It could be for business. I’m going on a business date. And it is not the governor’s son, ok?” Lanre said patting Chidinma’s hair. Chidinma nods her head. She was a little bit relieved it was not what she had thought. The only thing is that she still won’t know exactly where Lanre was going or who she was going to see.
Lanre left the house, leaving Chidinma alone. She was indeed going on a business date, it was more of a blind date, but it will turn out a business date. She went to Pearls house and from there, they left together.
………………………………..
Lanre and Pearl found themselves in a house with an interior design that seem a little too over the roof. Lanre felt not all the furnitures were needed in such a small space. She mentally cursed the work. Whosoever did it was probably not thinking, or the lady who lives in this flat was someone who’s sense of judgement for design was absurd. But then, not everyone was the same. No wonder a popular adage says, “One man’s food is another man’s poison”.
“Welcome you two! Are you Lanre the one that wants to see Honourable Ojo?” A lady who seemed to be in her 30’s said. But Lanre could tell it was the make-up. Looking at the way the lady was, Lanre could bet her silence on it that the lady was over 40.
Lanre nods her head to acknowledge she was the one who had requested to have a meeting with the infamous honourable Ojo. The lady smirked. “Why do you want a meeting with him?” The lady asked.
Lanre chuckled. “Of course I want connection. Or is that not the reason you are tied to him and men like him?” Lanre asked. Pearl nudged Lanre as a sign not to say something that may make the lady change her mind. But Lanre did not mind her at all.
“Lilian, honourable Ojo is one out of my five chances of getting connections. But one out of one in my chance of getting this particular one. I intend using his help to expand my business”. Lanre said to the lady who just laughed.
“Pearl, where did you say you met this your friend again? I like her! She acts like she is tough. But let her know that the honourable is a dangerous man. There will be no turning back once I get her to the hotel”. Lilian said.
