Good For You!

Lanre felt so accomplished. She got into the Uber with a broad smile. She has just had a successful meeting with the Governor’s wife and would be the one in charge of the woman’s wardrobe as well as makeup. Her duty will be most effective on special occasions. This was a big win for her and she felt like celebrating.

“I will be working for the Governor’s wife”. Lanre shrieked. It was not the fact that she would be working for the woman that made her happy. It was because of what she would achieve.

“Congratulations!” The Uber driver said to her. She smiled at him. Suddenly she asked him if he would like to take a little time off. He told her he could not afford that.

“I will pay! I just feel like taking you out. I mean you’ve be trying for me. You are literally my driver. So I want this to be my treat”. Lanre said. But the driver insisted he won’t go.

“Why are you being such a fun killer? We should be friends by now, or aren’t we?” Lanre asked. The driver told her he would love to keep his job as professional as he could. Lanre decided not to bother him anymore.

“Please, once we get to the shop, I would get something from inside, then you will take me to Lekki”. Lanre said to the Uber driver. Then she relaxed into the seat. Just then she got a notification. It was a message from Okechukwu. She frowned wondering what it was he had sent her.

“Lanre, I can’t reach you on call. It seems it’s network or your phone is down. Hope you are fine? I know whosoever did that just wants to ruin your reputation”. The message seemed foreign to her as she had no clue what he was talking about. She contemplated calling him but decided against it. She doesn’t want to hear his voice especially not his overly concerned attitude towards her.

She puts her phone into her bag and closed her eyes. She only opened them when the Uber driver told her they had gotten to her shop. She got in and went straight into her office. Just when she got out of her office, Sharon told her that Actress Timitola had called to know if she was still coming to the venue. Lanre told her that’s where she’s heading to.

“Are you going alone? You should take one of us with you. You might need help there”. Sharon said to Lanre who was holding a make up box.

“Pascal! You should come with me”. Lanre said. Sharon mentally hits herself on the head. If she had known she would not be the one to go with Lanre, she would not had brought forth the suggestion. She watched in regret as Pascal left with Lanre. It would have been great for her to go to Lekki, the place where the rich live.

Immediately Lanre and Pascal left, Uduak laughed mockingly at Sharon.

“Good for you! Every time you want to go with madam”. Uduak said and hissed afterwards.
