While they wait for their order at the table, Lanre reminisced with Christian on the day they met at MT. Lanre was already heading out when Christian walked in and grabbed her hand. They both laughed finding it funny the way Christian apprehended her and asked her if she was going to give up K without a fight.
“You know, after that day, the thought of that filled my head. I was like, should I fight to get K back or should I not? I mean humans have a right to choose who de want to be with, and he had made his choice. But men was I angry when I saw that I had become a topic in my class group chat, everyone was talking about me losing K to Ify. Like I was being called a loser having brought to public what only K, Ify and I knows about. I decided I would make Ify regret that”. Lanre said.
Soon, their order was presented to them. Lanre complained the food was too much but ended up ordering for more when she finished it only to discover her stomach still felt empty. Christian told her she was eating well.
“You should be happy always, it makes you eat well. Although, I must say you de eat like who elephant match em belle (You are eating like one who got stepped on by an elephant right on the stomach)”. He said to her. They laughed it off and ate their food. Lanre felt like she’s never been truly free all her life until now. They talked about the first time they met at the hotel when he had come to call her and she refused to follow him.
“I considered you hot on that very day though! And I was like Kehinde does have good taste”. Christian said. He was driving them back when he said this. They have been talking all this while. Lanre felt uncomfortable hearing K’s name. She told him they should no longer mention K’s name as long as that day was concerned. Christian gave her a smile to cheer her up, his smile was infectious enough to cheer her up. She smiled back out him.
“Can you take me to the shop. I need to see how they are doing. At least I should go see them”. Lanre said.
“Lanre, it’s Sunday! Like today is Sunday, you had your convocation on Saturday and you left Lagos on Friday”. Christian said to her. She looked confused. She asked Christian if he was sure what he was saying. He smiled and asked her to check calendar on her phone which she did. She saw that it was indeed Sunday. She covered her mouth with the palm of her hands.
“Damn! I can’t believe I’ve been thinking it’s Saturday! Shit!” She said laughing at herself at the end. Christian told her it happens and it was normal for someone to still live in the past while in the present.
