Did You Change Your Mind?

K finished taking his bath and returned to his bedroom with a towel hanging on his waist. He opened his closet to bring out the clothes he will wear when he heard footsteps in his room.

“Did you change your mind?” He asked.

“Fool, what are you talking about?” A male voice said to him. He furrowed his brows. That voice did sound familiar, he wanted to call the person’s name but needed to turn around to be sure he was going to call the wrong name.

“Michael! How come you are here without informing me?” K asked. It was Michael, Anita’s husband.

Michael laughed. He asked K if that was how he welcomes a friend. K told him he would have hugged him if he was a girl. Michael chuckled and told him that he at least has a woman in his life he could hug forever and not just any random girl out on the highway.

“But I was expecting to see a fair girl with long slender legs, that hot chick you told Anita to bring to our wedding. Do you know it was later on when you went missing and Anita’s family were looking for a particular girl I got to realise she was the one. At first I thought she was a cousin to Anita”. Michael said. K noticed how he kept calling his wife by her first name.

“I wonder why someone will marry a woman he can’t call his wife?” K blunted out.

“You should have married her then!” Michael said. K shook his head and told Michael he gladly passed. Then he wore his brief before wearing a pair of joggers and a singlet.

“Anyway, I came here for some business and thought I could stay over at your place for the two weeks I will be here. I don’t want to lodge a hotel with Anita”. Michael said. He did not trust K with Anita or preferably does not trust Anita with K, but he has come to stay in K’s house with his wife.

“Since when did my house become welcomed to unannounced guest?” K asked. Michael did not answer his question. Rather he sat on K’s bed comfortably and crossed his leg. He asked K when he was planning on inviting him to his wedding.

“I mean we are soon going to be in-laws”. Michael said to K. He studies K’s reaction and realised K does not like the girl. He laughed.

“Last last, e go reach all of us (at the end, it will get to all of us)! Were you not the one that advise me to go on and marry Anita that she’s a good girl? Now, it is your turn, feed with it”. Michael said to K.

“If I punch that mouth of yours now, they will say I’ve started again. Make I no answer you”. K said to Michael who kept laughing.

“The both of us won’t be home often, so the cousins could keep each other company”. K said before lying down on the bed.
