Anita returned the orange juice and presented wine to Lanre instead. Lanre thanked her. She kept savouring the wine while seemingly oblivious to Anita’s presence in the room. They got to chat later on when Lanre seemed ready to listen to Anita’s chat.
“I am so glad that you have gotten better Lanre. That day, I could not even arrange my thoughts. I was so scared thinking you would die. Even Gozie that acts strong all the time. I saw the tear drop from his eye. Thank goodness you did not die”. Anita said excitedly. Then she started to gist Lanre about her honeymoon when she saw that Lanre did not show interest in her talk about how Lanre almost lost her life in her brother’s hand.
“We had gone to Paris for our honeymoon. We spent two weeks. Omo, Paris is lit! You would love to spend your honeymoon there too. Imagine you and K there together. Oh my goodness! What a romantic romantic! I mean, the both of you walking hand in hand on the street under those romantic stars up in the sky like candle light. One dark skin and one light skin. Have you ever made love under the moonlight? The both of you will look beautiful doing that”. Anita said. If words could make someone throw up, Lanre would have done just that.
“Are you a director of porn? Because I don’t understand where all these love making is coming from. And besides, how did it move from your honeymoon, to Lanre and K. The L name, should it not be your cousin’s name there?” Lanre asked Anita. Anita told her that as far as she was concerned, she was the one K likes and if he was to be with someone, it was her, Lanre, and not Ify.
“Do you hate your cousin for some reason? Or there is a reason why your cousin can’t marry K. Because according to you, your mother wants me to be her daughter in-law that was why she made Kehinde’s mother take Ify as the woman Kehinde will marry, what is your aim?” Lanre asked.
Anita told Lanre that it was because she hates injustice and that Lanre had tried for her on her wedding day, so she was ready to do this little thing for Lanre. Lanre smirked. Anita was obviously lying to her. If Anita was being truthful, then she would not be acting desperate.
“What is the guarantee that it is me you want to be with Kehinde and that you just don’t want to use me to push your cousin sister away? I mean, you do not want people to say you ruined your cousin’s wedding. So, I’m fit for that?” Lanre asked not necessarily needing Anita’s reply. She just wants to get her reaction through her body language.
“Kehinde was your friend before you got married. Were you obsessed with him? And therefore, you cannot watch your cousin sister get married to him?” Lanre asked again.
