This Is Not Acceptable

Soon Lanre was called out for them to continue the shoot for the day. She went out and everyone took their various position. After the director has said “action”, there was dead silence in the parlour. This is the part after the first lady who entered had said it won’t happen because she was the first to come. After about a minute silence, Lanre blinked. She walked towards the lady.

“Aunty, please, I’m sorry! If you will wait, no problem, I will attend to you after that. But if you can’t, my employee will attend to you. This lady who just entered has special reservation. She made a direct booking with me, and I have to attend to her first”. Lanre said. Lanre had suddenly lost the weak air around her and the stage fright that was looming over her was vanquished the moment she started talking like her usual self and it had to do with business. It suddenly felt like she was not acting anymore but was just living her life.

“This is not acceptable! I still first her!” The first lady who came yelled. The other one was just quiet staring. Lanre took a deep breath. She turned to look at the other one. She was contemplating if she should attend to the one who came first or her regular customer who had booked her personally without going through the receptionist. Aisha was the one acting as the receptionist.

“You should attend to her, I will wait”. The other one said. On saying that, the director asked them to cut. He clapped his hand. Then he asked Lanre if she has been acting all her life. Lanre shook her head.

“This is my life. It’s just like you asking me to show people how I live without faking anything. So, that explains the flow”. Lanre said the director nods his head.

“We were not supposed to use this place as the place where the lead and the assist will meet, but thanks to the person who recommended you and say we should use here and include you in the movie rather than only using you backstage”. The director said.

“Actress Mrs. Richard does have a good eye for real talent”. The director said. Actress Timitola is the same person as Mrs. Richard. Since she was now married, the director addressed the actress that way to accord respect to her husband. Lanre smiled and thanked the director for making use of her beauty parlour and featuring her and her workers in his movie.

Soon they went back to shooting. They ended with the two ladies in the movie exchanging contacts. The first one was like since the first one was nice enough to let her get attended to first, she would like to treat her to a meal. This was the first meeting of the lead and the assist in the movie. But this last scene was not shot until the lady who came first had a complete makeover. This was a scheme to promote Lanre’s work as well.
